Set in a converted cluster of fisherman’s houses along Portree Harbor the hotel offers plenty of character and quirks. There are 17 bedrooms with attached bathroom with all expected facilities.

The restaurant was amazing. You have to reserve for a spot as its tiny. Recommend you do so as restaurants in Portree are limited.

The check-in process was fast and the staff were helpful.
The restaurant offers a sumptuous and soul satisfying lamb dish.
The property has a charm that only a heritage property can provide.
The bed was surprisingly comfortable to sleep in

Beautiful new hotel, price on the higher side vs what you can get in the island, like Edinbane Inn or Three Chinneys. It should have been 30% cheaper for it to be value for money.

A very lovely, cozy, and beautiful place! Just a few mins away from the main center, super convenient. Hosts are very nice and friendly. The breakfast is freshly made and very delicious!
On average, 3-star hotels in Portree cost $254 per night, and 4-star hotels in Portree are $329 per night. If you're looking for something really special, a 5-star hotel in Portree can be found for $340 per night, on average (based on Booking.com prices).
A location for myths, legends and beautiful nature.
A location for myths, legends and beautiful nature.
Things to see and do:
1. Plunge your face in the water under Sligachan Bridge for a faerie blessing.
2. Hike up to the old man of Storr.
3. Go to the top of the Bride Veil's Falls and drink a sip for good luck.
4. Visit Talisker (Book months in advance for a distillery tour), but the visitor shop is worthwhile regardless - you can engrave a bottle or draw your own bottle from a cask yourself without a tour.
We spent more time in the surrounding areas than the actual town itself, special sites and nature. The town itself is good for a night or two, but I'd focus my efforts on the landscape of Skye instead of the inside of the shops of Skye.
Be sure to factor in opening times for certain restaurants. Most places have a "no booking" policy, so you can expect to stand in line when wanting to eat out at the recommended places.
Spots to eat that we tried:
- The Lower Deck Seafood (Queue 30min before opening time) located on the harbour side.
- The Isles Inn (Walk-in 30min before you're hungry) with live music almost every night around 21:00ish.
Spots for great coffee:
Talisker - just outside they have Caora Dhubh Coffee Company. Worth the coffee itself if you're after the best cup of coffee in Skye.

Portree is lovely.
Portree is lovely. We visited in early may and the crowds were mostly manageable. I would be a little concerned in the heart of the season. My suggestion to the powers that be would be to consider shuttle busses to the popular sites from centralized collection points; discourage rental cars from driving to the sites independently in some way. The small roads and on-site car parks can become overly crowded. We couldn't get near Quiraing for the traffic on the winding one lane road. In all other respects, Skye and Portree are lovely and a pleasure to visit.

I only spent one night in Portree so my judgement is limited. Even before the tourist season started, it was quite crowded. I can’t imagine what it must be like at the height of the season. Skye is lovely but expensive compared to other locations in Scotland.

Skyelight Apartment is at a great location, very near to...
Skyelight Apartment is at a great location, very near to Portree town centre, maybe 1-minute walk. Nicely furnished, warm and cozy. Note though there is no washing machine. Otherwise, a wonderful accommodation.
The room was very well curated. Compact but very efficient. The host was very nice, always available for all our needs. The location of the BnB is absolutely perfect. It is not directly in front of the harbour but it only 2 minutes by car from Portree's centre. It has lots of space for parking and for people travelling by car is right next a gas station. Overall, a perfect base in Skye to go and see all the magnificent natural wonders of the area.
We spent 4 nights here for our Skye trip and everything was absolutely perfect! We really appreciated the milk, eggs, bread, cheese and all the other goodies to start us off before going to the grocery store. Bed was the comfiest out of all the other places we stayed in Scotland. The Isle of Skye was so magical, we hope to come back and wouldn’t hesitate to book here again!
Excellent hotel , great food , clean and comfortable room.
Our week stay was greatly enhanced by the team who work at the hotel , friendly , helpful and happy to spend time sharing their knowledge of the area.
Hotel location is perfect for exploring the Island and only 10 minute's walk into Portree. Plenty of parking available at the hotel with easy vehicle access .
Everything was wonderful! Amazing lodge with great location. Nigel provided some great snacks, a nice surprise upon arrival. Interior of the lodge is modern and well outfitted. Beds were very comfortable.
4 miles into Portree, 3 miles to Old Man of Storr. Easy access to the entire island. A wonderful base camp for exploring the beauty of Skye.
The view from the room over Portree harbour is fantastic. The breakfast is excellent and also the restaurant meal we had was superb, they even gave us a window seat with harbour views as it was our wedding anniversary. The staff are so friendly and attentive so if we’re ever back in Skye we will be booking this hotel again, wonderful!
Staff were very accomodating. Location was excellent, on the harbour with magnificent views as advertised. Breakfast was exceptional.
We had an issue with our toilet not working and as it was the weekend we were moved into a sister hotel (The Pink Hotel) nearby, also on the harbour which had much better rooms and facilities.
We really enjoyed this stay. Our room was just perfect and we also had a great view.
Parking was easy and it's just a short, pretty walk to the town.
It was great returning to our hotel after a full day of exploring and hiking the Isle of Skye.
The restaurant was perfect and the service was wonderful.
House was spacious warm and very comfortable. So well equipped and clean. Location 5 minutes from Portree Centre
Absolutely beautiful Loch on the doorstep-
Best restaurant in Skye is the Cuillin Hills Hotel with great views of the loch and is within walking distance from the house
Mery and Les were very good hosts, they gave us tips to access Portree, where to have the best ice-cream and which places to explore in Skye.
We were also very satisfied with our breakfast, and we had our first tattie scone in Scotland and it was delicious.
The location and view from the room was incredible (see photo for view from single room No. 5). A short walk to everything in Portree and a nice central location for driving around the island. It was also nice to have free parking so close to the hotel.
The Royal hotel is in a great location - opposite the harbour so had a lovely view! Room was good size and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was great each morning and had a big variety. Staff were very polite and helpful during our stay.
It was a hidden gem on skye. Close enough to Portree but with spectacular view of the surrounding area. We were able to buy groceries in Portree and enjoy a lovely meal with all the supplied kitchen equipment taking in the views.
Our room had a fabulous view of the harbor. The hotel has an excellent restaurant only for hotel guests which was significant because Portree does not have many dinning options and it's not fun to go hunting for food in the rain.
Staff were all very nice and we even got a free upgrade so our room had a view of the loch and the colourful hotels in Portree it was unreal! Dinner and breakfast were both top quality thanks for having us!
I loved that it was centrally located in Portree. I loved that I could make a res for supper and breakfast. The food was phenomenal and the staff was welcoming and kind. The entire hotel was beautiful!
The hotel is in the heart of Portree.
Staff it’s been amazing and also the room, clean and comfy.
We had everything we need, if you are around Isle of Skye I would really recommend this place!
Free breakfast so delicious and the service is very nice and staff all warm and helpful. Location is perfect! Would definitely choose this hotel again next time visiting Portree.
Really great location on Isle of Skye next to portree. Really nice privacy and next to stag farm so you can see wildlife outside your window. Lots of space and big kitchen.
