The host is very friendly and very helpful. Our apartment was on the 2nd floor and she was kind enough to let us check in early. It is a very spacious apartment with a lovely kitchen, bathroom and lounge. The sea side at Lynton and Lynmouth is approximately 10 minutes drive from here, and there is plenty to do in a 30 minute radius. The Ilfracombe aquarium is also in the same radius as well as several other places to visit. The area has very little light pollution and on a clear night the view of the stars is spectacular. There is a very good telescope made available by the host for stargazing as well. The tv also had all the Freeview channels on it and if you are not out at night you can simply relax in the lounge with a book or a series.
There is a communal lounge on the ground floor which looks stylish and is very comfortable. There are also lots of brochures and information available on the area and what to do. The self catering apartment we had allowed us to get up any time and move around freely and on our own time. The kitchen is well kitted out and all we need to get was the ingredients when we were not eating out.
There is a steam railway a few minutes walk from the apartment as well. Unfortunately we could not make it as there was so much to see and do in the area.
Take comfortable walking shoes as there is a lot of walking in the towns and villages.
All in all a very good experience. Would recommend Moorlands to anyone.

Most of the staff were very friendly. However the manager did not value me as a customer even though I paid for a double room just for myself. I believe I was allocated an unsuitable (main street outside) room to be asked to pay more to upgrade to the more expensive one.

The B&B is in a great location, in a pretty setting. The home was well-appointed and cozy. It is only a short walk to the town center and restaurants, shops, etc.
Breakfast was very good. The bathroom was large and nicely renovated.

We recently had the pleasure of staying for three days at a stunning Victorian-style Rockvale House bed and breakfast, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the kind and generous owners made us feel completely at home, ensuring that every aspect of our stay was perfect.
The house itself is a beautiful example of Victorian architecture, with cozy, impeccably clean rooms adorned with great furniture that enhances the historic charm. The hot showers were a comforting end to our chilly evening walks in the scenic neighborhood.
Breakfast each morning was a delightful affair with a variety of delicious options, perfectly starting our day. The views from the property are undoubtedly the best in town, offering a picturesque setting that is both tranquil and inspiring.
The location is superb, with the unique addition of an old-style cinema just 50 meters away. We enjoyed a lovely evening watching a movie with locals, which added a special touch to our experience.
The area around the property offers great walks, ideal for exploring the local beauty and serene landscape. This place not only provided a wonderful stay but also left us with beautiful memories. We are already planning our return to what we consider the best place we've stayed in. Highly recommend for an authentic and exceptionally comfortable getaway!
Nearest town Lynton is a lovely place. We discovered an excellent tapas bar there called Oak Wall. We did not eat at the hotel but were informed by another guest that the food was excellent.
Hotel is also served by a bus route opposite. There are many good beaches close by including Woolacombe and Ilfracombe

Was expecting host to be present at breakfast time.
Was expecting host to be present at breakfast time. But plenty of space in kitchen provided. Breakfast was basic but good. The room was lovely, very clean and tidy. It would have been lovely to sit in the garden beneath our room as such a lovely view, but it was overgrown and not accessible. Patio available only has sun first thing and not the same view. Lovely to be able to walk to the local pub which served great food.

Parracombe village is remote , quiet and picturesque.
Parracombe village is remote , quiet and picturesque. Despite hourly buses to Barnstaple & Plymouth a car is pretty much essential.
Nearby Lynton & Lynmouth are local tourist hot spots and the Valley of the Rocks rewards you with spectacular cliff top views along the coast.

Would not recommend Parracombe or the Fox and Goose to all...
Would not recommend Parracombe or the Fox and Goose to all and sundry but I would to friends who appreciate this environment.
We don't want all and sundry knowing about the place and not appreciating the location and spoiling it because many uneducated working class oiks who don't know how to behave and expect everything to be perfect could ruin the village and hotel

We came to Parracombe on a family history tour.
We came to Parracombe on a family history tour. I specifically wanted to visit family graves and the home of my grandfather in Bodley. I was not disappointed. The bonus was the pottery and a fun ride on the old railway, used in the past by my father.
Parracombe is charming and it’s inhabitants friendly. Quiet location well placed for touring. An excellent menu and great breakfast at the Fox and Goose. Plenty of parking a bonus.
Parracombe is a pretty village well off the main road in North Devon, a good centre for walking. The accommodation is very modern and a cross between B&B and self catering so for a family or 2 couples who know eachother it is ideal. It has a kitchenette where one is provided with an excellent continental breakfast and it is possible to cook ones own meals in a microwave. The pub is a short walk away.
The hotel has been refurbished and updated during lockdown and was absolutely refreshed and the rooms were superb, the breakfast was one of the best I have experienced also the staff were very friendly and good, Nicki the owner has done a fabulous job in making our two night stay excellent.

The food was great for dinner and the service.
We really enjoyed our stay at Highfield House, the rooms are newly decorated, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Parracombe is a lovely village conveniently situated for visiting Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and Lynton & Lynmouth. A good continental breakfast is provided and the host Jaye is very friendly and helpful.
