Duration of stay: Sunday 12th October to Thursday 16th October 2014 On arrival, we were issued with one electronic room key of the ‘credit card’ type. It did not work, no matter how slowly or quickly it was inserted or removed from the electronic door lock. Another resident on the same floor commented that this was not the first time it had happened to her on the frequent occasions she had stayed there. Returned to reception where staff member re-programmed it and also issued a second key. Neither of these worked. Returned to the lift to go back to reception and was met by Tatania, a staff member in the lift who said that she would sort it out. Not only did she re-programme the keys yet again but returned to the corridor with mw where my wife was patiently waiting for access to the room. Tatania tried both keys which again did not work at all, so, she then produced a metal ‘normal’ key for the door which she advised us to keep for the duration of our stay. She also reported the failure of the electronic lock to the maintenance staff. A short while later, the maintenance guy appeared at the door asking about the faulty entrance light which we explained to him that we didn’t have but we did have a faulty lock. However, we had already discovered that the sink in the bathroom was blocked and after washing our hands, the water did not drain away. He said that he would return with a plunger. In my humble opinion, as a qualified Engineer, a plunger would not be sufficient and told him so. He returned a short time later with plunger and unsuccessfully tried to clear the drain with it after blocking the overflow with tissue. I recommended to him that he remove the bottle trap under the sink which he eventually did only to find a complete mass of hair and sludge which had clearly built up over a period. He removed this with a large amount of tissue and carried it away. The sink worked perfectly after this.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The lounge bar was good and staff very attentive.
Breakfast was good but they need a bigger room as all tables were for 4 people so mostly had to sit with strangers and some of them not friendly! The bistro in the evening was in the same room as breakfast and the picture shows it all nice with table cloths etc. but when we went there was no tablecloths and only 2 staff so service very slow and food overpriced. It felt we were eating in the breakfast room and not a bistro as advertised. There were 5 lights out on our floor (5th) as you got out of the lift which made it very dark and it was like that for the whole week!
Everything, which is why this was our third or fourth visit.
There was nothing we didn't like!
Pro's Staff polite, attentive, efficient All areas kept clean at all times Food - only ate breakfast at hotel which was excellent. Eggs cooked a certain way, no trouble for kitchen to accommodate. Cannot find fault Cons Not really cons but poolside could do with a few more sunbeds (only two) rest are up on sun deck of which stairs not great for some who has mobility issues.
The only thing that I felt ruined the persona of the hotel for an evening venue, was the live singer - my god, was like sitting in old folks home lounge. Needless to say left half way through first song and went out to find some lively excitement elsewhere!
The position was central to shopping area. Official buildings. Changing of the guards frequently too.
Having to leave !!!
The price is very expensive, The hotel is not that clean
Room service Views Huge bed Clean room Friendly staff
The hotel had a great central location and was easy to find Excellent breakfast the choice was endless but make sure you take up the offer of the discounted price when you check in. The staff was friendly and helpful the lady that cleaned our room was so lovely said hello to us everyday and came to say goodbye when we left . rooms were clean and had plenty of space .

From start to finish the staff were excellent and the location is right in the heart of Gibraltar. Highly recommended!
There was nothing to dislike.
Large well lit room with comfy Queen size bed. Vast choice for breakfast. Staff friendly and oblidging.Bar charges very reasonable
Charges for parking and WiFi.Should be free considering charge for room.On checkout invoice room charge was £63 per night more than Booking.com quoted.Rectified when queried. No reason given.
Wifi prices Telephone call prices Lack of at least one free bottle of water
I had several issues regarding my stay at the O'Callaghan Elliot. I have written to them 3 times detailing this and haven't even had the courtesy of an acknowledgement. Shame really as I like the hotel and location!
Location, look, comfort, business centre
High prices for phone calls, some cleanliness issues in the bathroom
Location Pool Parking
Having to pay for parking Swiming pool floor slippery Expensive but all hotels on the rock are
Good room size, well positioned in old town.
Bath room was black and lacked proper ventilation, a/c noisy. wifi very slow and mobile reception in room poor.
The swimming pool area is in desperate need for upgrading and refurbishment. The tiles around the edge if the pool and the plastic gratings were dirty, it wasn't a pleasure of sitting around it or enter the pool. I have booked this hotel at such expensive rate for the pool facility and the advertising regarding the amazing views and panoramic views from the top floor restaurant and pool area, but I was totally dissapointed. The breakfast also was pretty poor and we felt sick after it. Staff was very friendly and polite and helpful.
The charges for the room is pretty high and we would have expected parking to be included in the hotel service as Gibraltar is known to be a dificult place to find public parking. We were pretty disappointed with our trip and stay over in Gibraltar, we found the town quite dirty and not really much to see to need to stay overnight....
They are very attentive to the guests need and problems. Excellent service. I would recommend it without hesitation to any anyone.
Air conditioning in the room very noisy and not very efficient. Needed better and more car parking facility, at least allow the guests to be able to book a space in advance.
Swimming pool, friendly staff, excellent room, great location
Internet difficult to access. New code every day and convoluted access system. Make this simpler because it's VERY important. Very expensive. Poor balconies.
The hotel was very clean and nicely decorated with a very really nice roof top pool with fantastic views of the rock and sea. Good food and friendly staff. We will be going back to the hotel again.
Our evening meal was excellent.
The receptionist was unfriendly and uninterested. The bar staff were in attentive to us. The bathroom ceiling was too low and the sink too high. The total cost of 12 hours in this hotel was exhorbitant. It seems they are profiting from a lack of competition on the rock.
