Poros is a great island to visit and many come by yacht small and large because the harbour stretches the length of the town. All along the edge of the water are cafés, bars and restaurants. The architecture of the old buildings is beautiful. There is even a rule that all roofs must be terracotta tiles! The beaches aren’t the best I’ve been to in Greece but there are some decent ones on the main part of the island away from the town.

Fantastic island, vibrant yachting community.
Fantastic island, vibrant yachting community. Ferries from Athens drop you in the centre of Poros. Stunning walk along harbourfront, views to the sea and mainland and the beautiful hilltop town. Very good restaurants with cheap and fresh seafood. Lots of shops, inexpensive supermarkets and bakeries. Good walking around the island with marked footpaths. Great beaches nearby, nearest 10 mins on foot. Free minibus around main part of the island and inexpensive taxis. All round great destination for all ages.

Poros is one of the most underrated islands of Greece, indeed. It's very small but beautiful, serene, calm , clean, quite and picturesque. Only 1hr 15minutes ferry travel from Piraeus port of Athens. There are lots of restaurants, caffe, supermarkets, shops. All types of food are available there including Greek food specially. People are welcoming, friendly and very generous. If needed laundry shops are there too. The clock tower is an added area where people can go see the entire island from bird's view. It's not so expensive like Mykonos and Santorini. But one can get the flavours of Santorini or Mykonos there. As a whole it's worth visiting Poros.

Calm, non touristy. Good food.
Calm, non touristy. Good food. Easy to walk or get a cab anywhere. We were off season (late September) and came by ferry for a few days break from Athens but have been before in high season in our yacht and it was good then too. Ate at Dimitris and Apagio Tavern, great meat and fish at the market, good coffee and lunch at clock cafe, good bakery and great ice cream and helpful pharmacy in the square by the meat and fish market.

Poros is an authentic, laidback Greek island, which also happens to be a major stop-off for yacht charters and flotillas. But, if you're not a yachtie, (we're not) they don't spoil the feel too much.
Only a few paces away from the yacht berths, you can find ouzeries where they still give you proper, free mezes with your drink, as you watch the old boys play backgammon and shoot the breeze. Or you can relax in more upmarket, restaurants and bars - but you've come to Greece, be more Greek! If you're in the square boasting Destino's Kafeneion, the locals' bar next door and Pavlou Shop which sells "plumbing fixtures, beach equipment and church supplies" you're in the right place.
The hotel is situated in a highly convenient location allowing easy access to beaches and to the main town, all within easy walking distance. The hotel is well maintained and managed and the staff at the hotel were both exceptionally welcoming and very helpful with any requests. The breakfast provided was plentiful and varied and even satisfied my fussy child!! The pool area is excellent and was heartily enjoyed by us. I would highly recommend staying at the Saga Hotel - it felt like a home away from home, like we were part of the family.
Odyssey Suites is an absolutely beautiful little hotel on the Island of Poros.. All with lovely views of the sea. Fabulous balconies to watch the sunset while looking down on the roof top herb garden with bougainvillea growing freely. . Beautifully decorated. Nothing was too much trouble. We managed to stay another night and Dora couldn't be more accommodating. The breakfasts were amazing. You could never go hungry here. Dinner was equally delicious. Dora is one of the nicest people ever. We can't wait to go back.
Poros is beautiful and amazing island, hotel Alexandros is located probably in the nicest place of Poros, surrounded by well-designed private houses with blossomed flower trees and palms. The accomodation is spatious and has all the nessesary appliances, kitchenware and a nice balcony to have a cup of coffee. The beach, supermarket, bakery and restaurants are nearby. Mr. Alexi, the owner, is a real gentleman, kind person always ready to help. Coming back to Greece, I will allways choose Alexandros.
The hotel was very nice! When we arrived we immediately got shown our room, which was great. The staff is very nice as well. The pool is nice and when it is closed during the afternoon it is only a short walk to the beach. There is a taxi boat in Poros Town that takes you to Askeli beach for only €2 (you can also take this boat back to Poros Town and to Monastery beach). The kitchen has everything you need. The balcony was very nice and had a very nice view.
This is a wonderful hotel. It's decorated very tastefully, it has a very nice view of a bay with a cute beach and the fact that it's not located right in the main town makes it not that noisy. The rooms are big and very well equipped. Just the shower curtain was a little difficult to manage because it kept sticking to the body. The wifi coverage is exceptional even at the beach across the street. We would definitely come back here.
Pleasant, cosily furnished, spacious enough apartments with a nice terrace. A charming all-encompassing view of the island of Poros, which we enjoyed every morning and evening. We stayed in these apartments for two weeks and we had absolutely everything we needed. Unlimited generous hospitality and care for everything we asked for. Our stay was great, we definitely recommend these apartments. Thank you! 🙏🏻
We had a spacious bedroom with lots of electric sockets and a huge dining-and sitting room with a fridge , stove ,washing basin , crockery and cutlery , television and two balconies with a marvellous view over the pool and Poros harbour. The pool was crystal clear with reclining chairs under sun umbrellas and a nice adjacent bar where drinks and snacks were served.
We received such a warm welcome from Ana and Theo that we immediately felt at home, not only in our room but in the lounge downstairs, which had nice soft music and a very cosy atmosphere. The decoration was different from the usual in hotels, and we liked it.
Our room had the most wonderful view on the bay.
We would come back to this lovely hotel any time.
I always love to stay here when in Poros because it’s a cozy hotel tucked into the hill and right on the sea which is convenient even for people with mobility issues. The food is mediocre but there are many restaurants not too far away. The property is in a great location with amazing views from every room. And each room has a balcony overlooking the sea.
Excellent location on the island with one of the best views I've ever had in a hotel.
The people, Alexandros and Maria (if I am not mistaken), were super friendly and helpful. With their hospitality from day one, I felt that we knew each other long time!
I will definitely choose this hotel again next time I visit Poros!
Εις το επανιδείν!
The hotel is a beautiful old building dated 1826 with big comfortable rooms and a
nice view to the port. Very close to the chora and close to the most beautiful beeches of poros. Alexis, the manager of the hotel is very kind, helpful and made our stay even more comfortable. Great place, recommend 100%
The room was great, view great, treats delivered each day (Cakes) were exceptional. Flora around the property made it very beautiful. Loved the quiteness of the island. Easy access to Poros town either on foot or by taxi (which was not expensive)
Great value right in the heart of Poros town harbor. Room was comfortable and modern. Well appointed with a nice bathroom and terrace. Everything is literally right out your door as is the fast ferry dock. Very friendly staff. Just book it.
Good location above the town with lovely views over the active channel between the island and mainland. Spacious terrace very nice to have breakfast and evening sundowners.
Host was very responsive and helpful.
Great place to stay on the island of Poros - 10 minute walk from the centre of town. Great communication from the host and I loved the motorbike ride up to the apartment.
