The hotel is beautiful. The staff was friendly and always had a smile on their faces and ready to assist.
The restaurant was great, the food was delicious, fresh and very tasty. Much of the produce was grown on site in their garden. The sauna was great, and the private beach was nice. We loved it!! This was the first time that I have ever considered living somewhere other than California.

Hope Josefa has the perfect score for what a traveler dream to stay. First of all, it's the closest hotel to the ferry.(5 minutes fast walking ) Not only the superb location, the hotel has the most beautiful courtyard in a safe and quiet neighborhood even though it is conveniently located in the center of the city (10mins walk to the street market). But the best of all about the hotel is the quality of the employees who keep the property in such immaculate condition in addition to their courteous and helpful manner in customer service. These sisters, Betty and Veronica, are the true assets to the hotel. If you find a room available, you should consider yourself lucky. I cannot think of any other hotels in Santiago which can exceed Hotel Josefa, the overall scores such as: location, safe/clean/quiet, employees, decoration, landscapes, for the price..! As a bonus, on the way to reach the front door of Hotel Josefa, you will be impressed by the magnificent mural on the wall which was done by the local artists. And not to forget to mention, the real hot shower..!

The market is fabulous for fibery things.
The market is fabulous for fibery things. Backstrap looms, cotton weaving yarn, and finished yardage and garments. NOT touristy, hard to find coffee before ten a.m., and very little English-speaking. It's a noisy and bustling center for locals (rural Mayans). The shops and the market are a bonanza if you are a fiber tourist. If you're looking for an idyllic green and quiet oasis on the lake, you need to look to the outskirts of town, or hop on a ferry to one the many smaller, more tourist oriented communities

Such a beautiful place.
Such a beautiful place. Went on a bird watching tour, Rolando our guide was very knowledgeable. We saw at least 45 species and he knew them all by their song.
I get the feeling the local people are tired of tourists. Do not take photos without asking first and expect most people to say no.
A good place to kick back and enjoy nature.

The hotel has a beautiful view, pool, and gardens. The restaurant serves a decent amount of options and the food was very good. We were able to enjoy all during the day when we arrived. However the entire town had lost power that day and the hotel did not have a generator. We spent our one night there in the dark with a few candles. The hotel did its best to accommodate this issue.
We loved the property! It had beautiful landscape, the staff was very pleasant and attentive, the rooms were very clean and beautifully decorated, the pool was beautiful, and there were many seating area. It was a wonderful nature escape and disconnection. the view of lake Atitlan on the property is speechless
Nice location, right near the end of the road leading from the docks. Didn't even need to hire a tuktuk as it was basically a few steps away. Nice and secure with a locking gate. The all-women staff (woman-run hotel!) was incredibly friendly and laughed at my friend and I getting into the cold, cold pool...
Casa Josefa is the cleanest hotel in Santiago. It is located centrally in town so the life of the town is very near by. The garden and pool are immaculate. The staff is very helpful. If you are traveling on a budget, this is wonderful. Great service. Great rooms.
This was a very nice hotel, where I got to have my own tiny room inside the bigger dorm. The dining area and the balcony on that floor was very nice as well! The hotel is also only a couple of minutes of walking away from the central park.
Clean nice room, staff was really friendly. Not everyone speaks ingles, but they try to communicate.hotel was beautiful with a lot of green and plants.the food in the restaurant was good so you don’t have to look for a place to eat.
The location was good. It was nice to arrive at the hotel dock and leave from the dock. The restaurant was excellent and the food was fresh. Great service by the waiters. The kids enjoyed the pool.
Staff were all very friendly, the hotel price was reasonable, the rooms were clean, there was hot water, the swimming pool was nice, and the hotel is a walkable distance from the rest of the town.
Very impressive property. They have a helipad and a dock on the lake… you can take a private boat from any town on Lake Atitlan. The staff was super professional and friendly. Very clean.
great location !! so close to the dock - just around the corner from the large restaurant on the corner. BEAUTIFUL MURAL as you turn right to get to the hotel !!
