This has been our most luxurious stay in Ireland - we added breakfast to our stay and the breakfast was like a brunch for us - plenty of food - make sure to make your own fresh squeezed orange juice. We did not use the spa - it seemed to be extra charge (pool free). The room and bathroom were large, clean and beautiful - the cost was similar to our modest B&B’s.

The location was great - I walked with my luggage from the train station. I had a wonderful dinner (vegetarian) in the dining room and then took a walk down to King John's castle to explore the area. It felt very safe and it was wonderful to walk along the river. I hope to return and highly recommend this small, friendly hotel.

FAQs about hotels in Limerick
On average, 3-star hotels in Limerick cost $165 per night, and 4-star hotels in Limerick are $189 per night. If you're looking for something really special, a 5-star hotel in Limerick can be found for $255 per night, on average (based on Booking.com prices).
Limerick revels in one of Ireland’s most iconic views – the River Shannon curving past King John’s Castle, a 12th-century fortress that could have come straight from a Grimm fairytale. Frank McCourt wrote ‘Angela’s Ashes’ about his childhood here, and his former school is a museum about him, set amid elegant Georgian architecture in the Newtown Pery district. Equally attractive is the custom house, now housing the Hunt Museum's eclectic collection of art and artefacts.
The 12th-century St Mary’s Anglican Cathedral is the city’s oldest building used daily, while St John’s Catholic Cathedral has Ireland’s tallest spire. The coexistence of the two is symbolic of the 17th-century accord between Jacobites and Williamites, supposedly signed on the Treaty Stone.
The Milk Market is a bustling hub of local produce sellers, and the shops of pedestrian Cruises Street are surrounded by restaurants and bars offering great nightlife, including some where you can jig to traditional Irish folk tunes.
The city is also sports mad. Munster Rugby play in Thomond Park, while the Gaelic Grounds ring with the sounds of hurling and Gaelic football supporters. Golf courses, a racecourse and greyhound stadium complete the picture.
Booking.com’s Limerick accommodation includes luxury hotels with spas and swimming pools, and cheap apartments near Shannon Airport.

It's a nice city to stay in for a couple of days.
It's a nice city to stay in for a couple of days. It's better to do it over the weekend so that you can visit the local milk market and King John's castle. A half-day walk around the city, a half-day for the castle, and a couple of hours (in the morning!) for the milk market.

Limerick is a really friendly city.
Limerick is a really friendly city. There are loads of lovely places to eat at reasonable prices. Nice shops. Pretty castle. Loads of parking places. Milk market at the weekends is a nice place to go for a couple of hours. Lovely churches too. The story cafe is a super place for breakfast or lunch.

Surprising to discover the extensive number of fine residential roads into city centre with beautiful old properties. Lovely quayside for strolling and a great choice of cafes and restaurants. Very satisfied with all our choices.
Didn't see everything Limerick has to offer so would be willing to return again.

Limerick isn’t what I expected… it’s much nicer.
Limerick isn’t what I expected… it’s much nicer. The people are friendly and welcoming in most areas. Some areas are a little scary and wouldn’t like to be on my own but overall the city itself has a great buzz. Great restaurant options and copious amounts of coffee shops. Cool and trendy with traditional areas too.

We booked a king room.
We booked a king room. Unexpectedly, our room was actually a suite. We were presently surprised, and it was large enough to entertain our other couple who traveled with us. The one downside: we were on the front of the hotel, overlooking the street, and it was very noisy at night. The A/C didnt work in the hotel and we were on the 7th floor, so we slept with the windows opened. We were offered another fan, but declined, as the daytime temperature was comfortable with opened windows.
The location was good, just a 15 minute walk to the city centre. The staff were amazing. The restaurant/bar attached to the hotel seemed to be a pretty popular place with the locals so it was a great place to have a pint. This also meant the staff were working extra to service both areas but they were still very attentive and extremely helpful while it was busy. Shoutout specifically to Alex, he went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and provided excellent service right from the check in :)
This was a perfect choice for a first few days in Ireland. The overall experience was comfortable and convenient which is important when dealing with jet lag and unfamiliarity with your surroundings. The breakfast was absolutely worth the price and I highly recommended pre-paying for it when you book this hotel! It's centrally located in Limerick right on the Shannon river, and just about a 1/2 a block from Dolan's pub which has great music on the weekends.
Absolute Hotel is well managed and well maintained. Our room is spacious and very comfortable for a 7-night stay. We originally did not book any breakfast, because we learn from past experience that it's better try first before making commitment to it. But after the first full breakfast, we were so impressed that we had breakfast there every morning in the hotel. The location is great, very quiet and not far from the city centre.
Great position, room very big and quiet for a good sleep.
The check in was fast and the staff very kind and professional.
Having a bar and a restaurant inside the hotel and a multistories parking just outside was a huge plus, especially when it rains and you're late for dinner!
I will definitely stay at Limerick City Hotel again the next time in Dublin!
Situated in Limerick City this hotel is within easy walking distances of restaurants, pubs and attractions. Our room on the 6th floor was large and well appointed with a good sized bathroom with bath and separate shower. Breakfast was well presented with a good and varied selection all cooked freshly to order and the staff were friendly and informative.
WELLLL! After we landed at Shannon Airport from JFK, NY, we drove up to Limerick to begin our Irish Adventure. We arrived at the Limerick Strand to discover that the hotel and 1/2 of Limerick was experiencing a power outage. The staff was beyond courteous and professional and assisted in getting us functioning rooms as soon as they could.
This is one of the rare properties that has not followed the rip of Ireland brigade and vastly hiked their prices like all other accommodation inLimerick city center.Very reasonably priced ; pity it’s only available during summer months .
Thank you Courtback .
Great Views, quiet room, well thought out restaurant menu & pricing, excellent for a weekend stay with a partner. Didnt have enough time for the gym nor the swimming pool, will tray again next time. Sure to book this hotel next time I am in Limerick City.
The Savoy is a lovely hotel in the heart of Limerick. The staff was very helpful, the room is comfortable, and we enjoyed the view of the city from our room. Breakfast was good, but we found nearby cafes much more inviting.
The Staff especially in The Off The Bone gastro pub were friendly and efficient. We felt very safe there and enjoyed watching the Ireland v All Blacks game. We visit limerick regularly and this is our Hotel of choice.
I came with my wife from Morocco for a holiday, she really enjoyed Ireland in general, and the stay at Dromroe in particular. The service is good, the room was clean and comfortable, we will definitely come back.
Great, friendly and helpful staff.
Lovely modern hotel overlooking the city of limerick and the river Shannon.
Lovely rooms and ambience around the hotel.
Very nice dinner and breakfast in the hotel restaurant.
Comfy room on first floor with a lift to get our bags up. Stayed for over two weeks. Good free breakfasts. Friendly, helpful staff. Rooms cleaned a lot more often than US hotels. Great city center location,
The room was very nice and the beds were comfy. The hotel is right beside a bus stop for a bus route that goes straight into the city centre where you will find all the nightlife of Limerick city.
Very comfortable “budget” hotel in a terrific location. Right in the city centre. Bonuses included its nearness to the Milk Market, Viko Viko restaurant (next door), and Mother Macs for a pint.
