Desenzano is a lovely holiday resort with a beautiful centre with plenty of restaurants and bars. Easy access to ferries.
During tge four days we were there, we visited the castle and the Roman Villa. Whilst we were there, the Giro D'Italia finished in the town which was quite exciting!
We spent half a day also visiting Sirmione by ferry and half a day visiting Pescheiria del Garda by train.
We ate at the yacht club, and the Ristorante Al Portico, both at tge Eastern end of town. And the Santa Pizza at the Western end of town. We preferred the first two restaurants.
We were using public transport. Apart from the ferry, the bus terminus and station were half an hours' walk away up a hill.
There are plenty if buses but we never really git to grips with the bus transportation system. Probably vecause of tge Guro and tge narket on Tuesday morning interfered with the routes!

Glorious surroundings, in a clean and friendly resort.
Glorious surroundings, in a clean and friendly resort.
Ferry trips are a must but can be very crowded.
More restraunts than you can shake a stick at, but are prevalantly pizza, not much else in the way of true Italian quisine.
Busses and trains are great during the day but stop running at around 20.00, and hardly run at all on Sunday

Desenzano is probably the biggest of the towns on the lake.
Desenzano is probably the biggest of the towns on the lake. It's not the prettiest of them but is most accessible by train/bus and the port provides more ferry options.
It's easy enough to get around but a few of the streets, a block in from the harbour, are steeply uphill. A lot of the footpaths have decorative cobblestones, which shake up a wheelchair. But, wheelchair users go free on the ferries, and their partner at half price, which is very decent. Ferry staff are very good at getting wheelchairs on and off via ramps. Some of the bigger ferries even have lifts to the top deck. A very good base for a holiday.

Evening walks.
Evening walks. A nice short day trip to Verona no guide needed. Not too expensive. Fantastic views of the lake. Sadly no boats running to cross the lake. A little boat crossing twice a day would be helpful as it is November and out of season

Newly renovated, very clean and cozy hotel with friendly staff in Desenzano.
Location is very good, not so far away from the city center and quiet at the same time.
Free parking lots for 3 cars outside of the hotel, at least one was always free.
Room was nice and well furnished. Bathroom with good equipment. Fridge in the room. Balcony with table and two chairs.
Good continental breakfast supplemented with fried eggs and bacon.
All in all nice place to stay for a reasonable price.
The location was good, not right in the centre so nice and quiet but close to the beach and easy walking distance to the ferry port, shops and restaurants. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The breakfast was the best - everything you could want with a lakeside view. It is not far from the train station but a steep downhill there and uphill back so I chose a taxi, which was inexpensive and the hotel are happy to arrange this for you. The room was clean and comfortable.
What's not to like??? super cute, super clean, super comfy, and really felt like we were staying somewhere special. The host was extra welcoming, was not in a rush like some, and answered all our questions, laid out the map. Best place we stayed in Italy out of the 6 places. And if you wanted a refreshment, there was a small vending machine. They really thought of everything. it was 0.8 mi from the trains station, we walked to it in 20 min, and only 10 min from the ferry.
Lovely villa with great location in the center of Desenzano. Everything is very close in walkable distance when going out. Cozy villa, really nice and clean rooms with everything you need. Great spacious bathroom with rain shower. Hostess Roberta is so kind, helpful and lovely. Managed to make late self check-in effortlessly thanks to got instructions. Would definitely return when visiting Lake Garda. Very good value for money.
Everything about this hotel was excellent! The staff were very helpful and would help you with anything! Breakfast was great with plenty of choice.
There is a secure car park also that is free to use if you require.
The location can't be beaten as it is right on the edge of Lake garda with great access to desanzano.
This will always be my first choice hotel to stay in desanzano, for value for money can't be beat.
Breakfast was good, beds and room were comfy. We had an awesome view of Lake Garda...beautiful to wake up to. It was a very relaxing stay, staff were super cool and very accommodating. Short walk to ferry to take you anywhere on Lake Garda. We went to Sirmione which was just gorgeous. In the evenings we took a short walk from the hotel to eat at some wonderful restaurants...each one better than the next.
A very good 3* hotel, the room exactly as pictured, quite spacious, very clean, the staff is very friendly, there are even slippers, we had a lake view room, got exactly what we paid for:amazing view both from the room and the bathroom.
Even though this is the centre of Desenzano, we didn’t hear any of the outside noise in the room.
The air conditioning works perfectly.
Everything was what you would expect very neat clean and tidy hotel, very close to Desenzano 2 mins easy. The breakfast was a nice assortment of things, all in all I would use this hotel again depending on the price. The front desk staff were excellent. The carpets in the passage very nice along with the door to the room which sets a nice welcome to the room which was a J suite.
Great hotel at Lago di Garda. Bit away from larger towns, but still close enough to Sirmione and Desenzano. Great selection for breakfast, option to sit and eat outdoors. Options for lunch snack, as we as for a dinner. Nice and small indoor pool. City beach 100m away. Cars parked in an indoor parking. Room spacious and clean, and staff always available.
Amazing location with direct view to the Lago di Guarda.
During our overnight stay, a storm passed and the rear windshield of our car was broken by hail, and apparently at night the hotel staff sealed the glass with a film, which we found out in the morning. Really thanks to them for that help.
The hotel is in the heart of Garda and located perfectly for exploring the city. The rooms are quiet, have air-conditioning, private bathroom, comfy big bed, furnished with taste. The host is vey welcoming. Will definitely save this place for another visit to Garda Desenzano🤍
This is a wonderful hotel, an absolute gem in a stunning location. The facilities are excellent and the staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. It's only a few minutes walk to the beautiful town of Desenzano which has many excellent restaurants.
W enjoyed our short stay at Piccola Vela. The hotel was gracious and lovely, the grounds were beautiful. Our room was generous and comfortable. From this location we were able to walk and explore. A nice stay by the beautiful lake Garda.
Good location in Desenzano del Garda, you can get to the beach in 5 mins.
