Lovely little fortification town at the bottom on Lake Garda...
Lovely little fortification town at the bottom on Lake Garda, with access to river Mincio. Good starting point to explore the lower bottom of the lake. Great connection to Venice/Verona and Milan. Must be careful when you buy train tickets. Apparently there are different companies that run trains and we were not told that our tickets won't be valid on all trains. Buses are very unreliable, taxis are cheap (compared to UK) and the drivers are great source of information. There are a few companies I would recommend: Il Giardino Segreto B&b And Apartments, Velolake Via Contro Bastioni, 37019 Peschiera del Garda for bike hire, restaurants La Plume and Osteria Rivelin - authentic Italian food - no pizza in sight :-), Pasticceria Pavòn Via Risorgimento, 5, 37019 Peschiera del Garda - Great staff and the cakes are exquisite!

A pleasure to visit, plenty of restaurants and bars. the usual tourist shops but a few other shops if you want italian fashion. There are some boat trips that are easy and cheap but also some that are all day. I personally ate at a restaurant called La Locanda, I had a fillet steak which was cooked to perfection, everything about this place was a dream. Great location to explore the lake and other cities like Verona Venice and Milan. Very clean great market on Mondays. Family friendly . Only slight downside as a couple was the lack of genuine Italian Resteaunts as a lot catered for tourists so fairly basic food choices. Having said this we ate at an incredible fish Restraunt on a converted barge best seafood we have eaten.

The town was easy to get to by following the path along the coast from the Hotel. Peschiera del Garda is a really lovely place to visit, eat, drink and relax. Very clean and adorned with lots of flowers over the bridges. The walk around the old moat walls was very interesting. If the walk is too much to do, visitors can take a trip on a small boat and all families are made welcome. The Italians we spoke to were all very friendly in the Shops and the Restaurants. A big plus for us and 1 of the reasons for choosing the town was that the train station is close by. This makes it very convenient for getting to Verona for instance. If we visited again, we would fly (from Gatwick) to Bergamo rather than to Milan Malpensa. The total train journey is about 1 hour rather than 5 hours.MikeUnited Kingdom - Scored 1010

We wanted to visit Lake Garda, as we had previously enjoyed 2 nights in Venice. We chose PESCHIERA del Garda as it has a direct and very comfortable train service from Venice. PESCHIERA del Garda is a fabulous place to stay with copious bars and restaurants. We also hired a boat which cost is 150€ for 3 hours which means you can visit other towns around Lake Garda in style. The only thing that’s missing from PESCHIERA del Garda is a choice of international cuisine. I know we’re in Italy, however after 4 nights of Pizza and Pasta a Mexican / Thai / Indian / Chinese restuarant would have made a welcome change.
