The location was within walking distance to the train station and sightseeing. The front desk staff was very helpful as we arrived before the room was ready. WE were able to leave our bags while we did some sightseeing and when we returned, our bags had been delivered to the room.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, they provided us with all the information to get the most of the city. The room was very comfortable and well equipped. Having breakfast served at the second floor with a beautiful view of the city is a plus. The property is in a great location at walking distance from the historic center of Messina.

Unaware that ferry arrival at almost midnight was at a cargo terminal, miles from anywhere, no taxis but helped by kind crew member. Nervous as solo traveller but most accommodating receptionist guided me by phone into stay. Tramline on waterfront easy access to station.
Only stopping point to Palermo - can’t judge attractions.

Messina is a pretty city in a beautiful spot that is off the radar for most travelers.
The cathedral, rebuilt after the 1908 earthquake, is beautiful, with Byzantine mosaics in the apses that miraculously survived. The clock tower mechanical clock is spectacular even though it only operates once a day.
The regional museum is full of treasures that were salvaged from churches destroyed in the earthquake. The highlights are two Caravaggios and an Antonello da Messina triptych.
Interestingly, Messina appears not to promote itself. The tourist office seemed to always be closed. I ended up asking in shops what sights to see, how to get to them on busses, and for restaurant recommendations. Locals were very glad to help me with that information.

The town is Ok for a day & night.
The town is Ok for a day & night. The cathedral at 12pm is the biggest thing in town and it is worth a look for the curious. Note all the bars around the square have a surcharge just to sit down - which they don't advertise. Try the Sri Lankan restaurants around town, delicious food at a great price.

we only stayed 3 nights, the area we stayed was very busy not far from ferry crossings. We visited Taormina and Cefalu, 2 nearby cities. Didn't get to see much of Messina itself. Did visit beach which was very nice.

Messina doesn't have a lot of attractions - the Camponile was interesting to see at midday, as well as the Norman cathedral, for which you could really see the Mudejar influence - something I found surprising for Italy.
OTOH, it also means there were fewer tourists about, which suited us to a tee.
If you are into hiking, it looks like the mountains above the city would have some nice trails with views out over both the Ionian and Tyrrhenian seas.
Really liked this place and its friendly hostess. It's very quiet, surrounded by nature, with beautiful overgrown lemon garden. The room is basic but very stylish and has everything that you'll need - good bed, AC, bathroom. I didn't remember the last time I slept so well!
The hostess, Dina, is a great conversation partner and showed us around the garden and village. On top of that we've got a bunch of recommendations for best places in Sicily. Thanks again!
Exactly what I needed for Messina, as I wanted to stay in front of the promenade. Clean and spacious room, lovely balcony, cute breakfast, the lady that I met in the morning was very friendly. I parked my car exactly in front of the building, that was very convenient and it is free-white colored line. If u are hungry, try the pizza restaurant 50m on your left hand side, as you get out of the property :P I will go back to Blue Mediterraneo soon!
The staff was very kind, always keen to help us. The breakfast is very rich and tasty varying from salty foods to sweets. Cleaning was exceptional, every day the bin was emptied, the room cleaned and vacuumed, clothes and stuff folded. The hotel is placed relatively close to the center of Messina but a little far away from the beach but there are buses that work all day. I greatly recommend this hotel if you visit Messina :)
Fabulous hotel. So nice to stay in a real staffed hotel in this age of AirBNB. Very clean premises, comfortable bed. Nice breakfast area and excellent breakfast foods. Room was spectacular - large bedroom, good bathroom, kitchenette, and a large sitting room with couch and large work table. Good location - easy walk to and from train station and ferry terminal.
It’s located in the heart of the historical city ofMessina. The street gives directly to the center of the city and is at few steps from the beach.
The rooms are beautiful with a lot of historical and art designs. Excellent personnel and I really loved everything about this place.
The also help by offering guides on touristic sites during your stay.
we were stopping over for one night to catch early ferry to mainland after one month in Sicily, hotel was a good price and location to ferry terminal to get back to mainland and close to a good restaurant and a nice little granita bar nearby for a last hurrah! breakfast included was a good way to start the day the morning coffee was great!
Above all we stayed with two lovely people for a week in their old farmhouse and orchard up in the hills above Messina.
Friendly, helpful, they made us feel very welcome.
Good breakfasts to start the day before we took off to explore the bird life. And delicious dinners! What wonderful fish. And endless cups of good Italian coffee
I arrived late to hotel. Stuff was really gentle. Morning breakfast was also perfect enough. Rooms were clean. Also after breakfast I needed to go to Messina central station, thanks to owner, he took me and I arrive on time. I'm really thankful to all of you, guys from here😊 you're doing perfect job, I really appreciated👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Amazing family running the place, Carmello was so great, helped us with everything we needed and gave us the best advice. It is very close to the center ant the port, and a short bus ride away from the beaches. It was clean, the beds and pillows super comfortable. Great place to stay!
the owner likes digs a d the hotel has an nice eccentric decor. it sounds odd but it is subtle enough and everything is new and clean snd well designed. The staff were really great and helpful. they have AC and an a modern elevator… rare in Italy. great location.
Really convenient, in the center of Messina, near the historic center and near the motorway junction. Clean and with all comforts. The owner is kind and helpful. I recommend it to everybody. How to find yourself at home.
Location
Best water pressure in Europe! Great coffee & kitchen facilities.
Carmelo is extremely responsive & accommodating.
First floor, no stairs is a plus. Would stay here again if ever in Messina.
Staff provided all information about the room I need. Location close to train and bus stations, bars or restaurants surrounded. Very good quality bed, just like a hotel room. Very comfortable stayed.
Very spacious room with a beautiful view to the port of Messina. There plenty of restaurants around. The apartment was clean and tidy, the host was very nice and explained everything presently.
The location of the hotel is awesome. I literally stayed in the best neighborhood of Messina. It is very easy to arrive there from the Messina Centrale train station.
