The only hotel at an altitude of 6562 feet in the UNESCO World Heritage Site Etna Regional Park, Hotel Corsaro is 984 feet from the cable way and meeting point for excursions to the crater. Etna's paroxysm the days we stayed was a pleasant surprise to say the least.

The Etna Golf Resort & Spa is located at the foot of the volcano, right inside Mount Etna Nature Reserve. It offers unforgettable views and elegant, air-conditioned rooms. I like the area especially the Golf ground.
We chose to walk independantly from the top of the cable car. The bus goes higher but you do not get long at the top station. We walked to a fumerol and took our time watching Etna blast dust into the sky. The volcano was producing fine ash as the crater wall was collapsing, it was not safe to go very high so we decided it was not worth paying for a guided tour.
Etna is incredible. It has so much to experience from the long mountain road with lava flows on every other turn to the fruit that grows near the bottom. Take a trip up the cable car and see the ice and the heat come together in addition to the lava field. The shear size of this active volcano makes it one of the most impressive sites we have ever visited.
Absolutely stunning and surreal scenery. I wish I had allowed more time for this visit as I would have loved to do the longer excursion up the volcano which included a 3 hour hike to the top craters. I will definitely have to go back to do that now!
The most interesting part of stay in Nicolosi is climbing on the volcano. Especially that it is still active and while trekking in some places the vapor was coming out. You could also touch the ground and it was warm, in spite of the temperature -5C on the top.
Just walk on your own. No guide. Take the elevator up and take the walking path down. We got passed by some bikers, but we were alone there. It's something you must have seen. But you don't need to be in a crowded bus tour or guided group to get the full experience. The path down follows the winding skislope (not the straight down version!) And it is moderate. It will take about 1,5-2 hours when taking your time. Remember to pee before leaving for the descent as the barren surroundings do not offer any privacy :-).
Get there early! It is a little bit like 'Volcano Disneyland', so arrive at the south car park for about 9.00am when the cable car starts operating to take you 'up a level' and beat the coaches. Even with the thousands of visitors the experience is still well worth it - the views are amazing. Oh, and there are about a dozen souvenir shops on site: no need to go into them all as each and every one sells exactly the same thing!!!
Beautiful hotel with spectacular views of Etna, Catania and the Sea. Very friendly and helpful owners/staff. Masterfully restored old buildings, modern and clean inside. Beautiful and well kept grounds with large pool, and many terraces and decks to lounge around. Outside the town, but close enough to visit easily. Close to Etna.
The property location was highly accessible for the local amenities. Staff were attentive and efficient, and the morning breakfast was more than enough to set us up for a nice days hike up Mt. Etna. Will travel back again in the near future.
Easy parking available (you can park near your window). Within walking distance from town center. Very affordable if you have a car and plan a visit to Etna (the north approach). It's a quiet neighborhood
Excellent place to stay before starting the Etna trip. Fair price, clean and well-maintained accommodation. Balcony with beautiful view of the sea and Etna mountain.
Close to Etna for hiking.
Get a guide and don't try to get to Etna yourself - best to ask Mimo, the owner of Etna Hut, to hook you up with Nocho who is a GREAT guide and worth the pay!
One can easily reach the base camp of Mt. Etna from Nicolosi and from their choose a way to climb the mountain.
20 mins drive away from the cable car to Mount Etna
