Hotel in Messina
Relax in the spacious, comfortable rooms of Hotel Royal Palace, set just 328 feet from Messina train station and the ferries to the Italian mainland and the Eolian Islands. Having in mind that we made the wrong decision when we chose this hotel because it was near the station and not near the center of town, we were wrong because all the area of the hotel is central and close to everything. What we thought, that walk to the Cathedral was long, did not really prove to be long because the streets were busy and pleasant to walk in. We were promised free parking in a privately owned garage at the back of the hotel and nobody told us that the height of the entrance was very strict and I nearly got stuck from the ceiling but €6 parking solved the problem. We actually had a problem with the A/C that was really noisy and when I complained, the lady at the concierge upgraded our room without any question asked. Breakfast was abundant and the service was perfect.

Located just 656 feet from Messina Port, Hotel S. Elia offers spacious and elegant rooms with air conditioning. The S. Elia Hotel is decorated in a Liberty style and features antique furniture. Great location- halfway between the train station and the cathedral (even closer to the ferries). Close to lots of restaurants. Easy to find. Big room. Good breakfast and nice staff.

Located along Messina's main shopping street, 1.2 mi from the G. Martino Hospital, Vmaison Luxury Hotel features air-conditioned rooms, a restaurant and a terrace. Excellent property. Complementary water, nespresso machine in the room, very nice and top level toiletery. The hostess offered to bring sicilian speciality in my room: delicious! Pantagruelic top level breakfast, including granita with brioche. There was sky tv and I was able to see my favourite tv show. I forgot my passport and they came at my meeting to deliver it..what a service!!

Set in Messina center, Hotel Touring is next to the train station and 10 minutes' walk from the harbor. It offers reading and TV lounges, a bar and air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi. Although the outside might appear drab the inside was lovely. The small reception desk area was from another era. I loved it. The desk clerk keeps your key when you leave and takes it off a peg when you return. The lobby and stairs and halls are covered in terrazzo and marble and tiles. Gorgeous.

Offering air conditioned rooms with satellite TV, Hotel Messenion is just less than half a mile from the Duomo, Messina's cathedral, in the heart of the city. It was very expensive for the place. On top of that the breakfast was not included. The bathroom was very small. Overall look is outdated.

Just 5 minutes' walk from Messina Cathedral and the Fountain of Orion, Opera Relais offers rooms with air conditioning and heating. Everything was good!!! Location, staff, rooms, shower, bed, linen sheets, breakfast!!!

Located in Messina, a few steps from Sant Elia Church and a 10-minute walk from University of Messina, Elysium B&B has city views and free WiFi. There was a large ledge/shelf in the corner of the room (so nice to have extra "countertop" space). Everything worked well and was clean, and the staff were friendly.

Hotel Sant'Elia, Vmaison Hotel, and Residence Acqua del Conte got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Messina.
The city boasts an excellent, recently built museum/ gallery with two very well- presented Caravaggios. Overall, we found it less lively than many other Italian cities of comparable size, and the choice of bars/ restaurants smaller than anticipated.
It is a really ugly town and apart from the catherdral and clock tower not really worth visiting. The town is dead during the day and really noisey and bustling at night time. Plenty of reasonably priced restaurants to choose from.
Destroyed by earthquakes and allied bombing, Messina has no «old town» to stroll around in, which is what I am after when travelling in Italy. Worse, the Irish pub, which might have saved the day, plays only loud punk music, «except on St Patrick’s Day», I was told.
Messina has so much history, and such amazing landmarks. Really great views from up above the hills to the oceanfront. Even if you have one day or a few hours to explore it is worth the stop to explore and take in some great local food as well!
Easy to get around. Loved the historical precinct. The city has a good safe feel. Good shopping to be had and tasty local food. I’ll Comparello is a must for casual dining and Piazza Cairoli for passeggio and ice-cream.
Definitely check out the 12pm clock show at the Duomo. Have never seen anything like it. Bonus if you can be there at the same time as a class trip full of cute, giggly kids. Great local and unexpected experience.
