A darling of Shakespeare, beautiful Verona is the literary home of Romeo and Juliet. The medieval families of Montague and Capulet immortalized in the tragic play did actually exist and some buildings relating to the Montagues are still present.
Sorry to disappoint, but the place purporting to have been Juliet's house in Verona was not actually where she lived. However, it’s still worth suspending reality for a while and stepping out onto the balcony to see if Romeo turns up.
Another of the must-see Verona sights is the Arena, a largely intact Roman amphitheater which is now the spectacular setting for outdoor summer operas. Smaller Roman relics include the stone bridge that crosses the river by the Roman theater whose remains are partly beneath a house.
The city’s narrow streets house many cafes and restaurants which have cheaper fare than the touristy ones by the Arena, although admittedly the views are less impressive. Life in Verona is laid back and elegant, so expect to see some well-heeled Italians on a post-dinner passeggiata.
Verona Airport is a little out of town, so you’ll need to take a bus to get to your Verona hotel, apartment or B&B. Book with Booking.com for the best choice.

Verona is a beautiful city with stunning architecture and lots to marvel at. I found the locals to be very friendly and helpful. It has a relaxed vibe and full of energy. I spent 4 nights and managed to travel to Venice, one hour by train, and Lake Garda, 15 minutes by train. I could easily have spent 2 weeks in Verona to lap up the marvelous atmosphere. Surprisingly, most restaurants and cafes were reasonably priced and the smaller restaurants along the many side streets provided fantastic food.

City is full of history, traceable from Roman, through Medieval to Renaissance in its atmospheric architecture. Very compact city, allowing for discovery of special restaurants and bars, many of which serve craft beers and good quality wines from NE Italy. Makes a good base for visiting wineries and lakes. We did Valpolicella, including an e-bike tour in Valpolicella and a trip to Trentino with its regional wines. Food and wine tour on the first day was a good way to familiarise yourself with the city. Maffei museum has some great art from Middle Ages to 20th century. Peperino pizzeria makes great Neapolitan pizzas and even serves craft beers in ice-buckets, like wine. Osteria Scudo di Francia is up a quaint side-street and serves authentic food in comfortable and hospitable surroundings at about £45 a head for 2 courses and a glass of good house wine.

Idea place for a short break (we stayed 4 nights which was ideal).
Verona is a beautiful old city with amazing architecture, delicious food and a great relaxed atmosphere. Wander from square to square, up lovely little streets and discover Roman remains, wall paintings, churches and grand houses. Fall into coffee shops and little restaurants serving delicious food which are generally less expensive than UK.
Don’t forget to cross the river and explore further afield. No need for public transport as everywhere is walkable. We also took a day to visit Lake Garda - just hop on the train and you’ll be there in 20 minutes

Visiting Verona is an immersion into an ambience that seamlessly blends history and romance. Renowned for the tale of Romeo and Juliet, it offers far more than the famed Capulet balcony.
Explore the Arena of Verona, a Roman amphitheatre still used for concerts. Delight in the vibrant squares such as Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza Bra. Savour exquisite wines in the nearby Valpolicella region and indulge in the rich local cuisine.
Verona is an essential destination, offering culture, history, and natural beauty at every turn.
Our host was amazing! They provided great customer service with good communication and smooth access to the apartment which was a perfect fit for our 6 night stay in Verona. The location could not have been better, it was an easy and safe walk to/from the train station and the historic center. The light and spacious apartment is located in a quiet neighborhood with all the latest amenities. The clothes washing machine and well equiped kitchen was an added bonus! This will be our 'go to' spot when in northern Italy!
The hotel is nice but it seems like Verona is very expensive. This was the most expensive hotel we stayed in on a two week drive through Italy, but was the least inviting, furthest from the city and most basic as far as the rooms.
The breakfast was good and the staff nice and helpful.
There is carparking under the building for 10 euro a day.
The hotel is quiet and you can walk to the city center but it is about 20 minutes.
There are good places to eat close by.
The location was perfect. Could walk everywhere. The longest walk was about 20 minutes to the train station. But the host was kind enough to have a ride transfer scheduled for a reasonable cost. The unit was by far the lowest cost of our 2 week Italy trip but it did not disappoint. It had plenty of space and all the amenities you could need. They also provided great recommendations for sites and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and time in Verona.
We had been staying in the Dolomites for a week and then just finished our Italian trip staying just 3 days in Verona so that we could go to see the Opera Rigoletto in the open air Roman Arena. The boutique hotel was really lovely with stylish furnishings. The bathroom was modern and fully fitted out. We had breakfast that included really delicious pastries made on the premises by a very pleasant lady who also served us our breakfast.
The location was superb, the room was small but pleasant and the breakfast was the best I have come across in Italy as besides the usual continental breakfast it included scrambled eggs, small sausages and bacon as well as fresh fruit and yogurt.
When my laptop could not connect to the hotel wifi, one of the employees let me connect to her mobile phone as a hotspot!
On our trip through Italy we spent a night at this hotel. It is near the city center. After a 20 minute walk you can see the beautiful old town. In front of the hotel is a street with free parking. The alternative is a parking garage (10 € per day). The breakfast was really great and there was even a free gym.
We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you very much. 🤗
Stone throw from the Verona train and bus station so it’s very convenient to connect to the airport and other parts of Italy by public transport. The place is clean and comfortable the owner is very friendly and quick to respond . We choose the place as it’s handy location to catch an early flight back
I’ve been traveling through Italy for two weeks and this was by far our favorite stay. Its exactly what I hope to find everywhere we go. Our apartment was beautiful, in a very old historical building, large, and comfortable. Oh, and of course the location was as good as you could possibly get.
The breakfast was good, the lady serving breakfast was very helpful, friendly and always smiling.
The room was comfortable enough for a few days stay. The location inside the train station was perfect for travelling around Italy and only a ten minute bus ride to the center of Verona.
Beautiful property, great location for exploring Verona. Lovely room with everything you needed for a short stay. The breakfast provided is wonderful and brought to your room which is such a luxury. The host has such a pride over the hotel and the city which shows throughout.
Our stay was simply outstanding! Absolutely every need was taken care of - it was better than a 5 star hotel. So many special touches to add to the comfort and make guests feel special. Trust me, you won't find better in Verona.... no matter how much you pay!
Location was a very short walk from the city center and parking nearby was 7€ for a day. The place felt secure and The area was pretty nice and full of scenery. The room is a very good size and very clean compared to my other stays in Italy.
Hotel Milano and Spa was located just by the Arena and Piazza Bra. everything we wanted to see in Verona was easy walking distance from our Hotel. They also arranged airport transfers for us and the rooftop bar is a great chill out area
The host was incredibly well and hospitable, they help a lot to me because it was my first travel to Italy. you can trust me that this beautiful area and this family of B&B La Magia is the best way to stay in Verona.
The room has a nice size to move around in, it had a little balcony and the air condition was the best working in Italy so far - quiet and effective. Location is great to explore the inner city in a few steps.
Location is great, the room is really big compared to another places stay in Italy. Common area as well is quite nice. Angie was really nice I would stay here again for sure
Equivalent of an airport hotel right at the train station in Verona. Clean, quiet and comfortable with friendly staff! Regular buses into town, also after the opera.
