It has become very popular on social media, it was as beautiful as i imagined. Kotor is surrounded by the mountains, and the sunsets and sunrises are incredible. We went for some adventures, and booked rafting on the Tara river, paragliding and planned to go up the Kotor Cable car and ride the mountain coaster. The people are friendly, there were some great places to eat. I don’t think that the infrastructure is ready for the increase in tourism, the roads are mostly single lanes around, through and over the mountains, there are some big roadworks taking place and it took nearly 2 hours to travel 20 kms. There was an accident on one road and it was took 4 hours to clear, this closed a major route. By their own admittance, the driving there is a bit crazy with little regard for the rules for the road, pedestrian crossings and red lights. That said, it has some beautiful buildings, interesting history and the scenery is incredible, i hope that the increase in tourism doesn’t spoil it too much.

Kotor is a beautiful place, but there isn't lot's to do.

Kotor is a beautiful place, but there isn't lot's to do. Definitely look at walking up the Ladder of Kotor and not the fortress wall route. It's free, has a drink and food hut part way up, it's a longer but shallower gradient and has MUCH nicer views. Plus you don't get some mardy local demanding money. The cable car is easy to get to and well worth the views and a cocktail. I went to Dubrovnik for the day which is very easy (leave on the first available bus to avoid border crossing issues and weekday if you can). A nice change of pace. Some good places to eat - specifically for meat eaters BBQ Tanjga, La Cathedral for pasta and Ombra for a few options (bit more spenny) and Pizza Pronto for a quick easy and very tasty by the slice pizza.

Beautiful city, walk away from the cruise ships if you want a taxi, they will try and rip you off f they think you are from the cruises. Old town has some lovely any restaurants. If you can make it, walk up the city wall to get a gorgeous view of the bay. Local people so friendly. Hire a private speed boat to get a tour of the Lady in the rock church and Perast island, you can barter for a good deal. Highly recommend 'La Catedral' pasta bar, it's tiny but the pasta was amazing and there's always a queue to get in at night so go early evening, 5/6ish or for lunch!

The city center is undeniably charming, but it's extremely overcrowded (I visited beginning of July). The sheer number of tourists makes it feel overwhelming, and the prices are well beyond what you’d expect.. even for a popular destination. Traffic is another issue; even short trips can take up to an hour due to long queues. You can also sense that the local workers are overwhelmed and burned out, which unfortunately shows in their lack of politeness and patience.

We were travelling around Montenegro for sometime and this was the worst hotel we stayed in by a long run. From the initial arrival where we greeted by an aggressive car park attendant to the complete lack of air-conditioning in the room, the stressed staff, the poor food And the uncomfortable rooms this place was awful. Not only was it terrible value for money being at least one third more than many other higher quality hotels we were ignored by the staff and the bottles of the water in the fridge had the security seals broken and have been refilled with tapwater by previous guests. Avoid this place at all costs. There are much better hotels in the area.

Kotor Bay (Kotor, Perast and Budva) is a perfect destination for 5 days. It's beautiful, luxurious and very relaxing. It felt like a more picturesque and less crowded version of Italy. We used Kotor as our base and visited Perast and Budva and it was the perfect choice. - Perast was the best destination for restaurants, relaxation and enjoying boat rides to visit the lady of the lake cathedral. - Kotor was great for historic old town, ice cream, shopping et al - Budva was great for beach and night life with a smaller old town

This was an amazing stay for us in Kotor! The location might be the best part, in the Old Town in an old building. You're surrounded by quietness, as the windows are placed towards a small courtyard. The room itself was kept very clean, tidy and serviced by a nice and helpful host. Furthermore, you have all the amenities you need, even a small kitchen! We loved our stay and will come here again when we get back to Montenegro.

Lovely hotel with only 11 rooms, and very friendly staff. Often there was only one member of staff looking after reception and the bar but it didn't matter at all. The breakfast was really good. A little further from Kotor Old Town than you might expect but reception always booked us taxis on request. The jacuzzi on the top floor is a lovely touch with outstanding views overlooking the bay.

The apartment was based with the overlooking view of the old town and the pool was amazing!!!! Host was very helpful and the wifi was amazing (very big thing as there is no data available in Montenegro). Old town was also only a 15 minute walk and the host gave us recommendations for restaurants and things to do.

Perfect location, close to the sea and to the old town, as well. Great advantage that it's not on a hill, easily accessible. We went for Oceanlava Montenegro and we were literally seconds away from the startline of the swim. The room with no balcony was equipped with a kitchen that came in handy.
