Gateway to the western fjords, Bergen is a picture-perfect postcard of Norway at its best. Colorful, wooden houses in UNESCO World Heritage-listed Bryggen contrast wonderfully with the lush greenery of the surrounding Seven Mountains.
For fantastic views of Norway’s 2nd largest city, hop on the cable car to Ulriken Mountain. Alternatively, hike or take the funicular railway up to Fløyen Mountain. With beaches sheltered from the North Sea by islands, Bergen is Norway’s busiest port and a popular starting point for fjord cruises and deep sea fishing.
The fish market in the narrow streets of the historic centre is a popular attraction, while just north is 12th-century St Mary’s Church. Around 1,000 years younger is Bergenhus, one of Norway’s best-preserved forts. Further north is Gamle Bergen, a reconstructed wooden village offering insight into the past.
Cobbled Strandgaten street and Lagunen Storsenter shopping center are just some shopping options, but items aren’t cheap. As you wander around the city look for work by Dolk, Norway’s best-known street artist. Other cultural attractions include many museums and a good music scene ranging from classic to indie.
Booking.com’s range of Bergen accommodation extends out towards Bergen Airport in Flesland, the departure point for many workers on the offshore oil and gas rigs.
Amazing city. Compact and so much to do. We are outdoorsy by nature and Bergen was a dream. The Ulriken, Floya, Mount Prest in the Flam region. We managed to hike all of them. Public transport is amazing
Lot of eating options - we had great Eritrean food at the Horn of Africa- delicious. Also some great falafel snd shawarma joints. Lot of vegetarian options as well. we did a day trip to Flam including stopping at the Twindefossen waterfall, Flamsbana, Stegastein view point, Mount Prest hike, Undredal Stave church and cheese factory.Still came off thinking there is a lot more we couldn’t do
Overall a great city to visit

Bergen is a beautiful city with historic places and great natural beauty. We loved the Fjord Cruises, the colourful houses in the wharf, the hiking to the Stave Church ( Viking Church ), funicular to Mount Floyen and everything around Bergen.

Bergen is a beautiful city with a very relaxed atmosphere, plenty of restaurants and bars ( not cheap though ). It is in a stunning location with a good range of Fjord cruises available which are a must do. Because of its location you do need a bit of luck with the weather, I was very fortunate on my stay.

Floyen mountain on foot, aquarium, Nordnes winter swimming...
Floyen mountain on foot, aquarium, Nordnes winter swimming pool are great attractions. I ate in the apartment, there are plenty of shops opened from 7 am to 11 pm. I was without a car, but I bought a Bergen pass for free days, I used the public transport. But I was mainly walking. Beautiful district is near Johanneskirken, unfortunately the church was closed. In generally, all churches in Norway are opened only once per week. I was disappointed in museums expositions, it was a waste of time for me to visit. Edward Munk everywhere. Nobody can really see there, in Oslo or in Bergen, the works of the greatest Norwegian artist as Hans Hude, Adolph Tidemand, Thomas Fearnley and many others. It is the same, as to leave Norway without Edward Grieg! Political demonstrations in both cities held until the sunset, Free Palestine. Disturbing, has nothing to do with Norway really. Locals not taking part in it. Why not arrange public discussions on OWN issues?

Bergen is a great, relatively small city.
Bergen is a great, relatively small city. This was our second visit, and we enjoyed this visit even more than the first as we stayed longer and were able to get away the Vagen area and explore other parts of the City.
It's easy to get around without a car, and there are many good restaurants.
Cruise ship visitors tend to overwhelm the downtown area and Mt. Floyen. The atmosphere was much better (less crowded, more relaxing) without the cruise ships. No doubt the local merchants feel overwise.

Bergen is a beautiful city with plenty to do.
Bergen is a beautiful city with plenty to do. We stayed at the Radisson in Brygge and found this a central location, with cafes, restaurants, and food all around us on the wharf. We ate in Olivias on the wharf and then Siam Rahtree ( with one of the best massaman curries since I was in Thailand ) And also one of the most stunning sunsets i've ever seen. We went on walking tour with Sami from Twentytour and this was just the best introduction to this beautiful city. Got some books downstairs in Norli with great recommendations. Bergen, you are a beuat!
Spacious room with sitting area (couch and desk); fridge and ironing board/iron INSIDE the room! Most comfortable bed of all the places we stayed during our ~2 weeks’ travels. Spacious bathroom and great shower. Would welcome face/wash cloths for the shower but most of the hotels we stayed didn’t offer these either. We had read prior reviews and did pack our own -thankfully! So close to the airport (1.5 miles) and also close to many restaurants; huge mall too. Huge and good breakfast! Great place to stay in Bergen!
Boutique hotel with helpful, welcoming staff and great food. Nice, clean, quiet room with comfortable bed. The location couldn't be better for a tourist in town to see the sites. Everything we wanted to see and do was a convenient walk from the hotel. Check in is at 3:00 but we arrived around 1:30 after taking the train from Oslo and they were able to get us right in, which was lovely after a 6 plus hour train ride. I enjoy staying at hotels that feature an artsy style concept and this one has that.
It was our first time staying at any kind of hostels. And this place honestly made our trip to Bergen even more special. I think people who travel to Bergen, Norway are a special kind who loves nature, so meeting new people who traveled to here was absolutely amazing. I wasn't expecting to meet anyone, but I did in my room. The staffs are also very kind and lovely. The beds were comfortable and warm. Breakfast provided at the hostel was a buffet, and it helped us to kick start the day.
This is a great downtown hotel with fun decor and exceptionally friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast was fantastic with a lot of delicious choices, much like in almost all other places in Norway. It was very conveniently located to the train to the airport. We took a taxi there because we arrived very late at night, and it was our first time in Bergen, but it's only a five minute walk to the train, and we could have saved ourselves a lot of money.
This was my second stay at this hotel. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and the shower has good temperature and pressure. The best thing about this hotel is the location, it is very close to the bus station and the light rail (Bybanen). We arrived by bus and were able to carry a large suitcase across the street to the hotel. It was also very easy to catch the light rail to go to the airport.
Hotel was wonderful - friendly staff, very nicely decorated and clean. The room had blackout shades, which was a must-have in Norway summer. It took us about 20 minutes to walk down to the harbor, but it was a scenic walk and we enjoyed stopping at cafes, shops, etc along the way. Would absolutely stay again. Parking was very easy once the staff explained how to access it.
A boutique hotel beautifully situated on the waterfront south of Bergen centre. Modern, tasty and colourful design of rooms and public spaces. A combined reception, lounge and breakfast area with a welcoming feeling inviting guests to hang around. A small but perfectly usable fitness room. Good value for money.
Absolutely loved this hotel! Probably our favorite of our Norway trip. The hotel is right in the harbor, so you could not have a better location. The hotel itself is historical, and it’s absolutely beautiful. Room was spacious and the bathroom was stunning. Breakfast was great too! Staff was so friendly.
Room was clean + nicely furnished. Room was also surprisingly quiet given how close it is to the airport runway. The location is unbeatable if you have an early flight our of Bergen: the terminal is literally just a 5 minute walk from the hotel. They also provide a cold buffet breakfast starting at 4am.
One of the best hotel breakfast I’ve had with so much options. All staff very super friendly and helpful. The location is great with the hotel positioned in the middle of Bergen central, with walking distance to most of what Bergen has to offer. Would definitely book again if visiting Bergen.
The location is located in a quiet, residential like, neighborhood.
You can park your car, even a larger one (5m30).
Public transport will take you to the center, which is not very far from this location.
The host can give you very good tips about Bergen, and Norway in general.
The do have the best breakfast in Norway! Of all the hotels I have stayed in Norway, they have hot breakfast. That’s so amazing! The room is what you paid for small but doable. The staff is very amazing. So honestly I’d stay there again.
Games, free coffee, spa, and location. Really great!
Also receptionists or waiters we’re all fantastic. Also breakfast soooo many options!!!
And all that for an affordable and low price compared to other hotels in Bergen/Norway.
Breakfast was wonderful and the workout room was excellent (if you like free weights and a few machines).
The location is also perfect, particularly if you are doing Norway in a Nutshell from Bergen to Oslo.
The Hotel is not big but is enough for you to stay there a couple of days, ammenities where okay but is common in whole of Norway that this area is well done. Not a bad location at al
Beautiful boutique hotel with a Parisian feel in central Bergen. Breakfast was stunning and staff all very helpful. A glass of bubbly on our arrival was a wonderful touch.
it’s a really modern and tastefully decorated hotel located just by the train station. Breakfast was the best we ever had in Norway! Highly recommended!
