Love this place so much. One of the best accommodations in the south we have stayed so far. The place was clean, kitchen with pots n pans, there is an oven n microwave too. Love everything about the house. A fridge, not the mini kind. Adorable laundry room. Everything is simple and clean.

Everything was superb. A concrete truck was to arrive at 8.00 a.m. the day of our departure and Rohanna advised us of this the night before and apologised profusely. There was little noise and no problems.

Being on the water was brilliant!

Being on the water was brilliant! Went to sleep and woke up to crashing waves. Beautiful rocky paths along the water! It was cold - bitter wind at night. Take a couple layers. Nice fireplace and view in the common area No food!!!! There is a market in town and a takeaway place - both closed at 8:00. It is a pretty rustic, rural place. We ate at a quirky backpacker’s spot in town, called Stella’s Chinese Takeaway. Had a really good veggie burger and bag AF crispy crinkle fries. Ran Nextdoor to grocery while they were being made and then ate there. Portions wer large.;-)

My adult children wanted to see the southern end of NZ so we drove from Wanaka to the Bluff - stopped at the Golden Age/ Anchorage for a pint then on to Stirling Point then on to Bluff hill. It was a beautiful day - we saw Rakiura-Stewart Island and the views were amazing.. We were too tired to travel back so booked an airbnb for the night - Motupōhue Base Holiday Home - 2 beddy which fit all 6 of us. Off loaded our gear and went to Eagle Hotel, played some pool, played some pokies, ordered our takeaways and went back to airbnb, ate our kai and chilled!!!

The visit to Bluff exceed our expectations.

The visit to Bluff exceed our expectations. It is a very small industrial town, so didn't think there would be much to amuse us, but there were some lovely walks and sites, and the fish and chips shop was the BEST (the one next to the Foveaux Hotel), totally recommend it, even for those not always fond of fish and chips.

Come on Booking.com get a Bluff photo and not one of the Nuggets at the northern end of The Catlins. Bluff village is sad with very few shops but stunning vistas. Great food at Oyster Cave with great views of the ocean. Lands End Hotel needs to lift its maintenance and/or get a reassessment of its Star Rating. Will stay in Invercargill next time.

There is nothing like visiting the very bottom of the South Island. Stirling Point is a must to visit with the Bluff Landmark sign and there are a few nice walks to go on. Oyster Cove is lovely for dinner, but you must book as it is very popular. For lunch we ate at Hayz @ The Anchorage Restaurant and Bar, Gore street at Bluff and their meals are amazing. We had Paua wontons and Whitebait Fritters. The meals are huge and presented beautifully.

Marvellous view from the top of the hill.

Marvellous view from the top of the hill. Everyone very friendly and helpful. Very generous portions served in cafe at lunchtime, but no oysters available in Bluff ( my husband went there especially to have Bluff oysters!) Boats unable to go out for 2 weeks due to weather.
