We flew COPA from Los Angeles to Manaus & when we saw they offered a free stopover in Panama City, we thought why not! As soon as we got off the plane we caught a bus to Portobelo & stayed 2 nights - just lovely & such interesting history. We then stayed 3 nights in Hotel Caracas in Casco Viejo & were so lucky to be there for Nov 3 & 4 8 Independence celebrations.
We also took an eco tour out onto Gatun Lake with Fernando & went to Miraflores.
You can walk to all places in Casco Viejo, uber is cheap, lovely restaurants, friendly people. We could easily have stayed a week. Absolutely recommend a visit to Panama.

There is always something to do and places to go visit, eat and shop. There are options for getting around- taxies, shared rides, metro train, and buses.
Restaurants everywhere we went give plenty of options for the taste buds.
Overall happy atmosphere all day and night.
The rainy season did not stop us from enjoying the trip.
Police presence was not overbearing and public safety seemed to be taken seriously for toursit and local population.

It's truly a beautiful sight at night.
It's truly a beautiful sight at night. I had a city view from my room so the lights and buildings in the city were unbelievable. Most buildings had security guards and the roads were never quite deserted at least the ones I passed during night time walks.
A few of the food establishments (Starbucks Papa John's and KFC) closed within reasonable times 10 and 11 p.m.
The driving is not for the faint hearted and crossing the main streets can be challenging on those streets where the pedestrian crossings are far away.

Shopping is great, the people are friendly and helpful and try to help even if the can't speak your language. Be mindful of the area that you book your accommodation as some of the really useful information about the location and safety is not always included. I learnt that the hard way.

People say Panama is safe, but you gotta watch out for your belongings.
Criminality is high in Panama and you can't do anything about it.
Recommended to stay in a hotel, not Airbnb. It's way cheaper. Look for just one trusted taxi driver to drive you around, and do not trust everybody. You can get assaulted very easy in Panama.
The place is nice, some people are nice, their food is awesome, very nice Malls and the traffic is organized sometimes. They drive very responsible in Panama.

Perfect location in the historic part of Panama City. Great cafes, shops, museums, galleries, water and CBD views. This hotel has the best communication offering hotel transfers or tours. The staff are brilliant going over and above to help me even before I arrive. There is a restaurant in the hotel which has the best menu I’ve ever seen & with delicious food from breakfast to dinner. There is double glazing on the windows so everything is really quiet. I wish to highly recommend Las Clementinas. Thanks a million for having me stay!
Location was great, hotel room was clean and comfy, the gym hall was full of good stuff, besides you had on the opposite side of the hotel a true gem of a café-bakery - Toño's - or, if you prefer well established chains you could go just 1 minute to PAUL's, C. 50 Panama City for an equally pleasant experience.
Among so many attractive stays in Panama City we have chosen this particular hotel for a totally particular reason: it has BALCONIES, and you can escape the terrible American habit of letting air in only via AC systems!!
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is well located and the bed was comfortable. The wifi worked well. Overall I enjoyed my stay and it is a fun place to stay in Panama City.
Nice Hotel, clean, very good breakfast buffet, good location - $2 - $3 in an uber into town. Walking distance to multiplaza mall. A good base for your trip to Panama city. Staff were helpful.
Decor of room and hotel was beautiful and clean. Buffet Breakfast was fantastic the best I had had since my different stays in different hotels in Panama City. Staff was very friendly!
