The people were very welcoming and I felt safe walking around the city during the day. I hired a driver at a reasonable rate and had a great city tour, tour of the Old City, the Panama Canal and more. This worked out better than "tours" since I had hurt my back and was moving slowly. Also this made it easy to ask my questions as well as for him to give me "history" lessons as we traveled.
My very basic Spanish skills were enough to not feel totally lost but there were many shops where English was not spoken so learn a bit before you go.
Highlights of the trip were the Panama Canal, the Old City, and my trip around the island to an old Fort.

Panama City has positives-we found the Metro and bus system useful and very cheap, but with the price of Ubers you might find them more convenient. We had no issues with the Ubers we used. In terms of things to do these were our favourites:
1)the Canal-the IMAX presentation was informative and watching a ship transit was fascinating-check to make sure there is a ship going through when you want to visit-there can be hours between them
2)the Biomuseum-we thought it was great especially if you are travelling with younger kids
3)the Old City- we enjoyed it but it is a tourist place- we found it interesting that while the Old City is a ‘must see’ it is bordered by areas of the city which are very sketchy, especially at night.
4)the board walk by the sea is a nice place to spend time in the evening
And that was about it for us. We are not out at night so can’t speak to the nightlife. Other than that we found Panama City, loud, and difficult to navigate on foot. For us, 2 days would probably have done it.

I just stayed in Panama City for 2 overnight layovers.
I just stayed in Panama City for 2 overnight layovers. I was a single female traveler who always felt safe. Panama City is sophisticated and cosmopolitan. Everyone I interacted with courteous and friendly. I hope to return soon to see more of this beautiful country with a big heart.
I spent almost a month at Coral Suites as I was in Panama for work. The room was perfect for me, spacious and comfortable with a well-functioning wifi-connection, a work space and a practical little kitchen. It would have worked perfect for a couple as well. I used the gym and the pool, and was very happy with both. The hotel is in an excellent location, close to stores, restaurants and the Iglesia del Carmen metro stop. Staff was helpful and very nice. If ever in Panama City again, I'll certainly stay at Coral Suites again!
Apartment is in a decent location with a supermarket, pharmacy, several fast food joints and some restaurants within easy walking distance.
It's a large, comfortable property with a functional kitchen and laundry room which is very useful if you like to be independent and more self sufficient.
The owners/property managers respond quickly via WhatsApp to any questions.
As with most blocks and hotels in Panama City there are good facilities here, including a gym, pool and communal areas which also have WiFi.
The location is excellent, very central and easy to navigate. Metro stop, large grocery store and several nice bars and restaurants within a 5 minute walk. The breakfast bar is amazing (the coffee definitely exceeding my expecations!), the gym and pool are really nice, and I loved that this was an apartment (with a full kitchen, laundry and comfy couch to relax) during my 10 long days of work in Panama City. Felt like the perfect mix of home + hotel!
Many thanks for exceptional service to Ana at the front desk. She got me an early check in, exchanged larger currency and was able to set up my phones and computer for hotel WiFi. Also prompt and reliable taxi service with Jose:+507-6426-7543 who really knows his way around Panama City and is available for charter to other areas of Panama. The last digits of his vehicle: 0575. The breakfast was the best I have ever had. Not to be missed!!
The room was simple yet very clean. The cleaning staff is very friendly, keep up the good work! For a short stopover in Panama City this hotel offers a small room at the right price. The area surrounding the accommodation isn’t the prettiest, but you are in the capital so you can kinda expect what you’ll see on the streets surrounding the place. But the location was easy to visit all the main attractions in Panama. So we can recommend it.
Due to protests in Panamá, I was retained in San Blas for two more days than expected so, unfortunately I was not able to check in at the hotel. The hotel, however, refunded me for the night due to unexpected circumstances, which was very nice, since my reservation was non refundable. Hope to come again to Panamá city and stay in this hotel in a near future!
Beautiful hotel in Casco Viejo, so a prime location for exploring the older part of Panama City. We also had a great room that was perfect for the two of us.
We particularly enjoyed the rooftop pool. And it was easy to get to the waterfront pathway system.
The breakfast buffet was well done.
The hotel is spotless and decorated beautifully. The staff are attentive. The breakfast was delicious. The restaurant that is attached is very good. The location is ideal for walking to Panama City Old Town. Not too far from the airport PTY - about 30 minutes by cab.
The room size was excellent, the air conditioning worked excellent. The bath provisions were excellent, the view of Panama City was outstanding. The breakfast was excellent as well as eating areas and atmospheres within the hotel. The price was excellent for the location.
This property is palatial and full of amenities, right in the middle of Casco Viejo. You can stay a whole weekend exploring the hotel's offerings or walk right out the front door to access some of Panama City's top restaurants and bars that are just steps away.
Location Is great, Is it close to the best beaches which were always empty. The room size was good enough. AC worked well, the view from the room was great. The staff was very limited during our stay but Tayrel took care of everything we needed.
Location. Panama City has a good Metro network that gets to the airport, and the hotel is only three blocks away. The personnel was reliable and serviceable. I enjoyed the swimming pool. Rooms were large and elevators always available.
Hotel Casa Panama was perfectly situated in Casco Viejo in Panama City, close to the shopping, Presidential Palace and many options for either a swanky rooftop bar or local street food. The staff was so helpful and friendly.
Nice Hotel, clean, very good breakfast buffet, good location - $2 - $3 in an uber into town. Walking distance to multiplaza mall. A good base for your trip to Panama city. Staff were helpful.
Decor of room and hotel was beautiful and clean. Buffet Breakfast was fantastic the best I had had since my different stays in different hotels in Panama City. Staff was very friendly!
