Booking.com misrepresented the location of the hotel as...
Booking.com misrepresented the location of the hotel as located in Panama City, Florida, not Panama City, Argentina. Booking.com certainly received my online payment once I made the reservation which I later realized that I could not reverse the charges. Once I landed in Panama City, Florida, I later realized after an employee at a Best Western in Panama City, Florida informed me that they had no booking number on their file that matched with mine. They even investigated further and found that the booking number was for the Best Western Plus Panama Zen Hotel in Panama City. Nowhere did it advertise online did it say that the location was in Argentina. I assumed the location was in Panama City, Florida. What makes matters worse is that there is nowhere in the booking.com website do they have an 800 number that you can speak to someone directly to resolve this issue. I am still waiting to hear back from booking.com when I made the complaint about the inaccuracy of the location of the hotel. When I made the online reservation in booking.com, I checked three times to make sure that the "where to" location was in Panama City, Florida. There I found in their list of hotels in Panama City, Florida the hotel as mentioned above as Best Western Plus Panama Zen Hotel. This is a very deceiving. Panamá city was amazing for me full of colors, culture and a lot to appreciate and learn from locals and also indigenous people in the surrounding islands within the country. There is a lot to do In Panama City and it is important to plan your stay to avoid getting lost in time.

The people were very welcoming and I felt safe walking around the city during the day. I hired a driver at a reasonable rate and had a great city tour, tour of the Old City, the Panama Canal and more. This worked out better than "tours" since I had hurt my back and was moving slowly. Also this made it easy to ask my questions as well as for him to give me "history" lessons as we traveled. My very basic Spanish skills were enough to not feel totally lost but there were many shops where English was not spoken so learn a bit before you go. Highlights of the trip were the Panama Canal, the Old City, and my trip around the island to an old Fort.

Panama City has positives-we found the Metro and bus system useful and very cheap, but with the price of Ubers you might find them more convenient. We had no issues with the Ubers we used. In terms of things to do these were our favourites: 1)the Canal-the IMAX presentation was informative and watching a ship transit was fascinating-check to make sure there is a ship going through when you want to visit-there can be hours between them 2)the Biomuseum-we thought it was great especially if you are travelling with younger kids 3)the Old City- we enjoyed it but it is a tourist place- we found it interesting that while the Old City is a ‘must see’ it is bordered by areas of the city which are very sketchy, especially at night. 4)the board walk by the sea is a nice place to spend time in the evening And that was about it for us. We are not out at night so can’t speak to the nightlife. Other than that we found Panama City, loud, and difficult to navigate on foot. I just stayed in Panama City for 2 overnight layovers. I was a single female traveler who always felt safe. Panama City is sophisticated and cosmopolitan. Everyone I interacted with courteous and friendly. I hope to return soon to see more of this beautiful country with a big heart.GretchenUnited States of America

The room was perfect for me, spacious and comfortable with a well-functioning wifi-connection, a work space and a practical little kitchen. It would have worked perfect for a couple as well. I used the gym and the pool, and was very happy with both. The hotel is in an excellent location, close to stores, restaurants and the Iglesia del Carmen metro stop. Staff was helpful and very nice. We were able to walk to many attractions and we could also take taxis to other locations. Our most expensive taxi was from the airport, which was $30.00. within Panama City, it ranged from $6.00 - $2.50. Everything was clean in the hotel. All the employees were super friendly and helpful. You can set up tours of the city with Iván, just ask the front desk to make a reservation for you! There is a bar within the hotel and they have a Happy Hour everyday!

A big living room with dining table, a small kitchen and a separate bedroom and bathroom with beautiful tiles in the shower. There is a great restaurant under the hotel with a cosy garden with good cocktails and good food. The people from cleaning and the manager were very kind. They even gave us free check out so our baby could do his nap before heading to the south.
