Ponte de Lima is a perfect place for a pilgrim on the Camino to take a rest day. Perfect place to get your laundry done properly, catch up with your sleep. Lots of nice restaurants to eat in. Many interesting alleys to walk through and enough sights to take in a day.

Ponte de Lima is a remarkably well-preserved, historically important village in Northern Portugal. It has been a crossroads for centuries. Probably for a Druids-like culture, definitely for the Romans, for hundreds of thousands of pilgrims walking the historic Camino (Caminho in Portuguese), as well as for people traveling east-to-west from the mountains to the Atlantic.
Today, Ponte de Lima continues to be an important crossroads as well as gathering space for walking & hiking, cyclists, various forms of boating (with a champion training center along the Rio Lima), horse riding, international gardening and more.
It's hard to fully explain how much cultural importance there is in Ponte de Lima for the Minho (region), Portugal (as a country), and, indeed, all of Europe in such a small village. Well worth visiting.
I spent three weeks there, fell in love with the village, and like it so much that I intend to move there.

The village is beautiful as well as the bridge, which we walked from end to end. There were several good restaurants to choose from. Everything is within walking distance. There are great sculptures spread throughout town. We would come again.

My wife and I have been visiting Ponte de Lima for 30 years.
My wife and I have been visiting Ponte de Lima for 30 years. It has changed and become much busier over the years. However, it has managed to retain its friendly low key ambience. It is still possible to recognise the town of years ago despite the changes. A truly lovely place.

Picturesque, regional town, with old architecture and great walks within the town and its hinterland. The town opens onto a broad riverfront with great views including of a historic multi-arched bridge which gives the town its name.

Ponte de Lima is a historic town, with a medieval and a Roman bridge across the Lima. Fascinating. We stayed there overnight as part of a Minho cycling trip (self-arranged).
Had a lovely supper at the Restaurante Encanada.
For one who visits simply for the pleasure of it, Ponte de Lima is Portugal in a dream.
Mercearia da Vila is in the centre of the old town, on the main pedestrian street, looking down past the church to the river, just a short stroll away. It is a B&B of the highest standard, pristine, with great attention to detail, a very warm welcome from the hosts, and a superb relaxed breakfast on the ground floor where the grocery store used to be. These are facts.
But beyond that, our brief stay was indeed like a dream. Rather magical, perfect.
We really enjoyed our stay at Guest House. Diana was extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast was great and we had a very quiet room (3rd floor, at the back of the hotel). Everything was extremely clean and nice. Rooms and fixtures are modern. Nice common area on each floor. The location was excellent - right in Ponte de Lima and few steps down to the river and Ecovia and many restaurants. I would highly recommend staying here. We would not hesitate to stay here again next time we visit Ponte de Lima.
Wonderful friendly happy people. Very clean. Easy check in / out. The price is the best we have found on whole cycle trip through Northern Portugal. A sort of kitchen area with utensils, plates etc and some cakes, bread, jam, coffee, tea, kettle and sink.
Beautiful view from the room.
We really enjoyed.
It is over the river from ponte De Lima. We walked 30 mins in and took a cheap taxi back. Recommend this accomodation 100% :)
Ponte de Lima is a city full of history, and so is Quarto das Lamparinas. Step back in time and enjoy a room in an old quinta oozing charm. It has all the basics inc a great hot shower, kettle with a range of herbal teas plus access to a wonderful garden and woodland. It's a minute's walk to all the restaurants and the famous bridge. The host is helpful and friendly, a perfect stay.
The rooms were immaculate and right in the heart of the riverside area. Katerina was extremely helpful, recommending a good restaurant, and giving us a good overview of Ponte de Lima. Each room was individually decorated with walls painted to reflect the bedspreads in a particular room. The attention to detail in such a small place was extraordinary.
Very modern, newish hotel in the far side of the Lima River parr of Ponte de Lima. Hotel is immediately at the end of the bridge, across from an Alberge and the toy museum. Very nice hot breakfast included, with bacon and scrambled eggs in addition to the standard continental fare. Room seemed almost brand-new. Helpful staff. Great stay.
The entire property was spotlessly clean. Diana was exceptionally energetic, personable, and helpful. The breakfast was fabulous with scrambled eggs offered and prepared by Diana. She was also very informative about Portugal and proud of her establishment and heritage. Finally, she helped in securing a bus ticket. Very comfortable stay.
The location is about 8km outside of Ponte de Lima, which took us off the Camino route but the facilities were very good, with very welcome air conditioning after walking from Barcelos in 30 degrees plus temperature. There is also a swimming pool. The receptionist was friendly and helpful.
The hotel is amazing. The staff is really nice and amswer to every request. The breakfast is off the charts, so many and deicious options. The parking is easy accessible and you feel safe letting your car there. I would recommend it to everyone wanting to visit Ponte de Lima.
Loved everything at the Villa, so much space, very clean, modern, pool was great, quiet, great help from Sergio and we felt really welcomed. If we would happen to travel back to same area of Portugal, we would most definitely come back to this place.
Perfect location in the middle of the historic centre of Ponte de Vila. The bed was very comfortable, the hotel was very quiet, ensuring a sound sleep. The breakfast was enjoyable and the staff were so kind it made leaving difficult!
The property, situated within a patch of nature just a few minutes away from Ponte de Lima, was a great place to relax. If you can't decide between the town and trees this place puts you in a good position to easily enjoy both.
The hostess was very nice and sweet. There is free parking in the back and it is an easy 5 minute drive to the free parking lot at the center of Ponte de Lima. Breakfast was good, rooms were clean, the shower was very nice.
Great location. Nice, modern renovation in an older building where many historic details have been retained and highlighted. The hotel staff was very friendly, helpful, and professional.
Great location and lovely accommodation! Christina gave us advice on Ponte de Lima, where to eat, what to see. great to have laundry facilities on site! we loved it!
