My wife and I stayed in the one bedroom cottage high up in the winery with stunning views of the Douro valley by day and the sparkling town of Montcorvo just below with its historic church by night. We walked through the winery a short distance to the pool and tennis court and swam in the infinity pool. It was amazing. The people in town were nice but private. We were there on a Sunday and found bustling Pizzaria Panoramica which made us a delicious dinner. We usually stay in 4 star or higher hotels that tend to be forgettable comfort - but this place brought us back to what is memorable in a truly unique experience. We loved the fresh bread, honey, eggs and jams in the welcome basket- and we cooked breakfast and watched the sun shift across the valley in the morning. If you like a little mix from the standard, and are a bit outdoorsy, this is the place to stay!

Location: Between the Sabor river and the Douro river, near IP2. When you cross the bridge on the Sabor go always up until you find the only yellow house – it’s the hotel.
The location is quiet, with great views to the mountains and the Sabor river. The beach is close by. We recommend the Lamerinho restaurant (ca 800 m). The menu is very short: fried fish from the river served with chips and a salad. For the all-you-can-eat-and-drink (including wine and soft drinks) you will pay only 12,50 € pp (cash payment only).
The place is a good base to explore south part of the Douro International Nature Park and the UNESCO site of the Coa Valley.
Hotel: The building has three levels, each at the ground level (quite frequent in Portugal). The hosts live at the highest level, and the lowest level accommodate the hotel, 4 rooms, dining room and the terrace with great views. The hotel is separated and independent from the private area of the hosts.
Room: small but functional, electric sockets available near the bed, lighting is OK
Bed: large, for my wife it was very comfortable, for me little bit too hard, but I easily solved the problem with a duvet put on the mattress.
Bathroom: large and comfortable, large shower cabin, good pressure of water.
Breakfast: Excellent. If you prefer French style you can eat homemade jams, and homemade cake, fresh bread. In case you prefer German style you will find local meats, ham and cheese. We were also offered to make sandwiches to have a lunch during hiking we planned.
WiFi: Good in the dining room and at the terrace, weak signal in the room.
Parking: at the yard (rather tight). Alternatively there is also a parking space at the street – safe and more space.
Staff: Excellent. Paula is very friendly and helpful. We could put our food into her refrigerator and were offered a boiling water to prepare our afternoon tea. If you stay more than one day ask Paula for a dinner. She loves to cook and prepares great food.
Quinta de Gandarem offers pet-friendly accommodations in Torre de Moncorvo. It is a 5-minute drive from Foz do Sabor river beach. There is a water park at 656 feet. Each house has a private kitchen.

one of the most unique and perfect places ever, this a must stay location
It such a lovely village with outstanding landscapes.
It such a lovely village with outstanding landscapes. You can walk and wonder around the village, go up to the mountains for some incredible views or even go to the Foz do Sabor river to get some sun. It's a perfect place if you want to be in contact with the nature (and yourself). It's one of my favorite places in Portugal - it can take your breath away.
