Sitting in 120 hectares of Douro Valley vineyards, this traditional manor house has been converted into Portugal’s first wine hotel. We had a wonderful stay, one of the most relaxing places we have ever visited. Staff was great and dinners were five stars!
The modern LBV House Hotel is inserted in the center of the Alto Douro wine region. The hotel staff was very friendly! The facilities were beautiful and clean, and my room was spacious and comfortable. The views overlooking Pinhao and the Douro were spectacular. I had an amazing stay, and I can't wait to return!
Located on a wine producing estate, on the right bank of Douro River, Quinta De La Rosa is a family owned property, 1.2 mi from Pinhão. There is an outdoor swimming pool available. Everything was wonderfull, site seen, premises, gardens, staff, wine tasting !!
Located in Pinhão, Dois Lagares House has free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden, a bar and a shared lounge. Great reception by our host who were expecting us. Breakfast was very good and with lot of detail. The place is as new and as such it is quite comfortable. The view is exceptional
Located in Pinhão, Casa da encosta Douro Valley offers garden, free WiFi, a shared kitchen, and a shared lounge. This villa provides air-conditioned accommodations with a balcony. The villa was really nice and well-equipped. The porches were very relaxing and the view was awesome. Great restaurant at the bridge below, Ponte Velha.
Located in Pinhão, Casa do Riacho offers seasonal outdoor swimming pool, free WiFi, a shared kitchen, and a shared lounge. The location, the orchard and vineyard, the swimming pool, the oranges, the kayaks, easy walking distance to the local shops, the friendly and welcoming host. Would recommend to others.
Located on the right bank of Douro River, in the center of Pinhão village, Casas Botelho Elias offers self-catering villas in a natural setting. We had a large suite with bedroom ,sitting room , kitchen and bath, not a modern feel but cozy and traditional with nice linens and reading lights. The Casas is a bit off the beaten path so it was quiet with no street noise. Access might be a challenge for some, as it is in a maze/warren of stairs and terraces, and it was 92 steps up to our front door. Casa Botelho Elias is a 3 or more generation family home. The younger generation is making big improvements gradually and the overall effect is charming. They share their large sun terrace (fig trees, tables, umbrellas and lounges )with the guests and also provide private outside setting at each unit. Small markets and cafes were available just minutes away with fresh and local products.. not to mention great wine and port. (See photo of eggs in a bowl.. amazing color yolks!) Rita and Pablo were very nice and accommodating. We would definitly stay there again. Pinhao is a perfect place to explore the top of the Douro Valley with all its vineyards, river trips, and walking paths.
We stayed at Quinta De La Rosa, located 2 km west of the city, so it was easy walk into town. It sits on a huge bend in the river very scenic. There are at least 5 -10 quintas (vineyards) located within easy driving distance. They are all very sophisticated, offering excellent wines and ports. There are a few restaurants offering simple fare at reasonable prices. in town. We had our best dinners at Quinta De La Rosa. This is the heart of wine country.
Pinhao is a lovely quaint town on the banks of the Duoro. There aren't that many shops to browse in - the usual tourist stuff, but that is not so important. The views are lovely, and great promenade along the riverside. there are lovely restaurants and bars to sit at and watch the boats come and go. I would love to go back.
The river cruise was a highlight of our trip, walking the vineyards at Quinta de la Rosa was a special opportunity to feel the labor intensity of the wine region. Great restaurants in town, good train ride from Porto and wine tastings were plentiful!
We enjoyed walking thru the small town of only 650 population, everyone was friendly and helpful. Our dinning experiences were good, remember no one serves dinner before 7 pm, so stay in town for a beer or glass of wine and enjoy the local cooking, music and even some dancing in the street!
Pinhao is situated on the picturesque Douro River, and the hillsides are covered in vineyards, olive trees and other vegetation. It is not a bad trip by train from Porto, and the views from the train are quite lovely for a large portion of the trip. I recommend visiting a Quinta outside of Pinhao. One can then take in the scenery and history of the country and participate in a wine/port tour and tasting. We visited Quinta de la Rosa and it was perfect. It is a great place to stay, to eat, and to do a wine tour/tasting.
Relaxing 1 hour boat ride up the river for amazing views. Took 2 winery tours, which were different from each other. The one across the river in an open air bus had amazing panoramic views and stops to be in the vineyard. The winery by the bridge in Pinhao was very informative about the processing of grapes, and the historical culture. Both had great tastings! It was difficult to find good vegetarian food in the restauants. The small grocery store also had limited options for preparing food for vegetarians.

This hotel has an unbeatable view of the Douro valley, vineyards and river. The terrace where drinks and dinner are served as well as the beautiful small pool are the places to sit and enjoy the location. The wine tour is excellent - you really get to see the place and the guide was fun and very knowledgable. Food in the restaurant is great. Service very good. Walk through the vineyards to work off the dinner and first class breakfast! Would definitely go back.

An amazing house amongst vines and orchards, so tranquil, well equipped, scenic, comfortable and beautifully decorated. It’s close to Pinhão cafes and many wineries, within walking distance. Everything about it is superb. We enjoyed kayaking up the river, oranges from the orchard and the warm welcome from our host. This is a very special place. You will want to stay longer!
