Facing the Tagus River and built on seven hills, charming Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world. It offers unique tram rides, intimate Fado performances, great dining venues and much more.
The city is famous for its districts: the Belém's famous monuments; the Alfama's labyrinthine streets, bars and small shops; and the trendy Alcântara's docks. Lisbon’s most popular nightlife and shopping venues are located in Bairro Alto, while the traditional heart of the city beats rhythmically in the Baixa.
Enjoy a walk in the greenery of Jardim Botânico, admire the architecture of the Jerónimos Monastery or explore Feira da Ladra flea market. The Chiado area serves the city's best traditional Portuguese food. No meal is complete without some famous pastéis de nata!
Getting to the city centre is only a metro or bus ride from Lisbon Portela Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel, a friendly guesthouse or a cosy apartment, Booking.com has plenty of accommodations for your holiday in Lisbon.
City was interesting, vibrant and fairly clean. People were friendly and helpful. We either walked or used the subway and/or buses. All public transit was clean and very efficient. The variety of food was wonderful. We would definitely come again.

Lisbon seemed like a really energetic and young spot (in comparison to our time in Terceira, Porto, and Coimbra), even with having so much rich history. There was a ton to do and see! We enjoyed city center (the oldest neighborhood), and like any important cultural space, it attracted many people and parties, so it probably doesn’t offer a clear representation of Portuguese life (because we/other tourists take up a lot of space/resources). We loved doing the touristy stuff honestly - tuktuk tour, kayaking in Sesimbra, sunset cruise, etc.
PSA: There’s a ton of construction, so getting rides takes a bit longer, and getting to the airport can be pretty long. The train was great! I wish we had learned the trolley or bus system. They seemed readily available.

Lisbon is a city full of culture, food and great architecture. Lots of tourists, plenty of seafood and local favorite pastel da nata (custard tart). Sunny but pleasant weather in June was an added advantage.

Lovely city but I was not impressed with the waterfront area - I'm comparing it to Porto though. City is extremely hilly and the cobblestones are slippery - can be a challenge for some. We did enjoy Lisbon but 4 days would have been sufficient - we had 5 days at the beginning of our trip and 1 day prior to flying home and we felt it was too long. We did a day trip to one of the beach towns - it was lovely.

Saw the Monastery which was definitely worth the visit.
Saw the Monastery which was definitely worth the visit. Found a great place for Natas - Castro - Atelier de Pastéis de Nata on R, Garrett 38 - the best we had during our visit to Portugal. Tiny shop but you can eat what you purchase on the terrace directly in front. We easily found charming places to eat around our hotel. The Portuguese people we met were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed having our breakfast at a local café near our hotel. We were astounded that all cars and buses stopped in their tracks at round points to allow pedestrians to cross very busy streets. The old city was lovely and easy to walk around. We tried to buy tickets for 2 sights online with our phones. First of all you must connect to the Portuguese National Monuments sight. For some reason the sights would not accept our credit cards from Canada. The receptionist at our hotel helped by purchasing our tickets for the Monastery and we paid her back immediately in cash. However, this which meant we were sadly unable to visit Sintra National Palace. We probably should have splurged and bought a ticket with a group before leaving Canada in order to see this unique sight (transport and ticket included). Bought a 24 hour ticket for the red and blue hop on hop off bus. We only used the red bus. There was a long boring stretch along the docks to the Monastery and Belem Tower. We waited over 40 minutes for a red bus to take us back to our departure point. The audio guides or head phones did not work on the bus. We noticed other passengers had the same issue. Would not recommend the hop on hop off bus. We think we might have preferred the Yellow bus and tram option. Took the metro (subway) fairly easy to use.
Browns boutique hotel had everything and more, the location was perfect for exploring Lisbon and all the entertainment around the local area, The room had all the facilities you would need including fridge, coffee and tea making and a complimentary bottle of wine. The staff were excellent and accommodating of any request made. The breakfast was easily the best we have had over the last 5 hotels that we stayed in during our 3 week trip. We would highly recommend the hotel and will look to book again when visiting Lisbon again
The hotel has a good location - metro stations, from which you can get to the airport or the city centre, are within walking distance. In addition, the neighbourhood is not in an overly touristy part of Lisbon, which means you get to see a bit more of normal life in the city. The staff were friendly and the check-in went smoothly. The room we booked was larger than others in hotels in this price range, very spacious. The fitness room was also an advantage, even if it was a bit outdated. Overall a good hotel.
If you’re looking for a 5 star hotel with free foot massage, jacuzzi and spritz aperol served in your room every evening, go elsewhere. If you need a simple, functional, clean and comfortable room with a lovely, caretaking landlady, in a house which maintains coolness inside despite hot weather and is located in a quite and nice neighbourhood of Lisbon (a few hundred meters away from the river, the tower of Belem and the Jeronimos monastery, all of this at a very reasonable price, this place is for you!
We booked 2 beds in a 4 room dorm which was our best decision to book in The centre house Lisbon. Rooms were so cute clean and modern . Very spacious and beautiful. Loved my stay , staff was amazing, helpful. It felt like staying in a luxury hotel/ hostel.
Everything was perfect for us, our roommates were amazing. The hostel had really good vibes and the best thing is its right in the centre . Everything is around it. I wish to go back again to lisbon and stay the same place. I highly recommend it.
The staff are amazing, especially Martini, who goes out of his way to make every guest feel welcome and special. The position is unbeatable and should get 11/10. It's right in the very best heart of Lisbon. You are also just a few meters away from the Metro Restadoudoris. Take the metro from the airport 1.50€.. Don't come expecting a 5* hotel, but rather a boutique hostel with a 5* vibe. Highly recommended.
- Hotel EXE Liberdade is in Lisbon's lively center, offering modern comfort and easy access.
- The stay was satisfying, best generally comfy, plus for central heating.
- The hotel's central location is perfect for discovering Lisbon's cultural and historical richness.
- Rooms are modern, well-furnished, and equipped with all necessary amenities for a comfortable stay.
- Quiet rooms, kind staff.
Absolutely best hostel ever. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. They go above and beyond to make sure you have the best time in hostel, in Lisbon and in Portugal.
They have dinner Events, pub crawl, fado, etc. They also gave us a guide for beaches on the West Coast. They als kept some of my stuff and I picked them up 2 weeks later when I returned to Lisbon, this was a huge help.
Just about anything - in particular the kindness and helpfulness of the staff. I travel extensively (at least pre-Covid) but how you are treated in this hotel is par to the best 5 stars in the world. An extra thanks to the bartender (whose name I do not remember but who introduced me to amazing wines) and the two ladies who did the free guided tours, Mrs. Silvestre and Mrs. Guitana.
Exceptionally clean, extremely spacious, and beds were very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and attentive. They would reach out to me via WhatsApp to make sure I had everything I needed. Keyless entry made check in very easy. I would absolutely stay here again in Lisbon. Best aparthotel I’ve ever rented jn Europe and my mom and grandma both agreed :)
Quiet luxury oasis in the middle of historic and touristic Lisbon. Gracious, comfortable flat with well appointed kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom, and garden terrace. Well priced - you are getting SO much more for your money as compared to a 5 star hotel at twice the price.
We most appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. We chose the hotel based on its proximity to the airport and we appreciated the secure parking in the parking garage. The food and service in their restaurant were among the BEST that we experienced in Portugal.
This is a beautiful boutique hotel with glorious accommodations right in the heart of Lisbon. We loved everything about our stay, from the comfortable bed to the luxury bathroom and the delicious breakfast. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. 100% recommended.
Best location and great hosts. Much better than expected. The rooms are very comfortable and the patio is great! Very good breakfast. Atmosphere from a hostel, but comfortable as a 5 star hotel. Amazing and surprising place in Lissabon! Highly recommended!
Everything. I don’t normally compare hotels from other countries to the US hotels because the standard is different but this hotel is at par to any 5 star US hotels. Highly recommended. Will stay here again when we return to Lisbon in the future.
Best location. Supercentral, metro is next to the hotel, airport is accessible via metro in 30-40 mins.
The building looks very pretty and the interior design is cool too. It was a pleasure to arrive here and to spend a short stay in Lisbon.
The location is fabulous for tourists, especially if they are new to Lisbon. I regularly visit Lisbon, but I recommend it for sightseers. Also, my room was huge with some of the best pillows ever in a hotel room.
If i ever gave 5 stars to a hotel, I didn't know what I was talking about.
This has been the best hotel I have been to, the beds felt like sleeping on clouds, and the room was spacious and comfy.
Big rooms, nice decoration and tall ceilings - tried several of these "boutique" hotels in Lisbon and this one was by far the best one in terms of value for money.
I highly recommend this Hostel to stay for your next trip to the fascinating and lively city of Lisbon. It’s like a 5 star hotel without the expensive price.
the hotel is very neat, clean, stylish and cozy. I’ve been to Lisbon so many times and it is definitely one of the best boutique hotels I’ve ever stayed at
