The apartment was very quiet, the balcony offered a view to remember fondly, the people in town so friendly and helpful. We ate twice at the favourite restaurant Ali recommended and we did not regret it. We travelled to Ephesus and selected the inclusive ticket which was 52 euros and it was worth every penny. Plan 4 to 5 hours, go as early as possible to avoid the crowds. We were there at 8:30 and the Firmin the parolier! By the time the crowds started we had walked the entire sight and avoided the heat.

We spent 3 days - one day in Selcuk ( there are 3 sites including Ephesus Museum worth one day) and one day doing Ephesus with a private guide( excellent and picked by the hote) and make sure you do the Terraces( many tours don't include it) and finally you can do 3 amazing sites 1-2 hours away - Piriene, Milietus and Didyma ( very few people do this but worth it). The hotel staff can help you

Smaller and less touristy with locals attentive to your need and willingness to help. Ephesus Archeological Park was the highlight of the visit. There is no dearth of choices for eating - from local Turkish dishes to Burger King. Selchuk is more convenient to stay as beginning from morning you can at your leisurely pace cover St John's Basilica, Artemis Temple, Ephesus Archeological Park and Virgin Mary's House all in one day.

we stayed in Sirince.
we stayed in Sirince. An antique village in the mountains outside of Selcuk. A 19th Century experience in small town Turkey. Bring good shoes for steep hills and uneven ground. Good natural foods from local farms. Expect an authentic experience.

I’m not sure why anyone from away would come to Selcuk...
I’m not sure why anyone from away would come to Selcuk unless they were there to see the antique ruins of Ephesus. That is certainly why we came. If you are in Turkey- I suggest it is a must see.
Ephesus is one of the most excavated sites in the world. It is humbling to see how much as a civilized culture we have forgotten- or forgot and have had to rediscover over the millenniums.
That said, Selcuk had decent dining options, and other attractions like the Ephesus Museum (where the artifacts are housed), and the Saint John Basilica which are fantastic. Both are blocks from the Akanthus hotel (which I reviewed separately and highly recommend .

Lovely town, the people were very friendly and helpful.
Lovely town, the people were very friendly and helpful. Easy to go around. Saturday has a fruit/veg, utensils market behind the bus station. Bus station in the centre of the town. Nice restaurants and good food and prices.
Beautifully maintained hotel and family owned and managed. This hotel is in a beautiful cobblestone are close to many great restaurants and a short walk to the main area of Selcuk. It is walking distance (a few blocks) to St John Basilica. Bugra is a fabulous tour guide and will ensure you see Ephesus and the House of Virgin Mary and any other sights even further away. He is knowledgeable and has excellent English. Rooms were spacious, clean, good AC. One of the best places to stay while seeing the surrounding sights!
Wow what a stay!!
This was such a cool accomodation.
Really great proximity to Ephesus, although I would suggest it’s best if you have a car or have taxis organised as it’s a bit of a walk into town.
The staff/family were so so friendly and helpful.
And now onto the best part, the food! Hands down some of the best food we ate in Turkey, these guys can cook! Breakfast was insane, such a huge spread and dinner showcased the beautiful local ingredients.
The domes were very cute and clean with comfy beds.
The beds are actually so comfortable! So much better than others we encountered during our 2-week Turkey trip. The staff were welcoming and accommodating, offering an upgraded room and an earlier breakfast than normal as we were planning to check out early. Breakfast was a delicious spread of classic Turkish delicacies, served in a beautiful back garden. The location is within walking distance to historical sights and great restaurants and shopping, but on a relaxing street away from the noise.
Location = perfect, breakfast = perfect, hotel = perfect, room = perfect, staff = perfect.
This should be on the list of Best Small Boutique Hotels in the World.
The Manager, Arda was fantastic - helped us with an awesome tour guide (Nizam), restaurant suggestions, sightseeing - everything he touched turned to gold for our stay in Selcuk.
Walking distance to Temple of Artemis, Isa Bey Mosque, St John the Baptist Basilica, Ephesus Archaeological Museum and main restaurant area of Selcuk
We loved the lovely Selcuk wall decorations and ottoman furniture as well as the leafy cozy courtyard which serves as the dining area. The charming hotel is situated in the historic quarter of Selcuk town, in a quiet bougainvillea filled neighbourhood a few streets from the basilica of St John. It is also quite close to Ephesus. There are quite a few pocket-friendly dining options about ten minutes walk away. Breakfast on the site is served on the table and is freshly prepared and ample.
Up on the hill but the view worths it.
If you don't have a car, no worries, they are always available to drive you.
It's an amazing peaceful place, well decorated with big rooms and clean and nice swimming pool.
Everyone is nice and helpful.
Delicious Turkish homemade breakfast.
I enjoyed it so much, so I extended one night.
A special thank you to Meli who was an amazing host. He made my staying perfect, organizing with me all visits and next steps. Best time ever in Turkey.
The property is a restored heritage building in the old city center of Selcuk. It is absolutely beautiful and well thought of in every detail, from architecture to food and hospitality of staff to the interior details and landscape features of the courtyard and pool…everything we experienced was just perfect and allowed us to take a much needed rest and soak in some authentic luxury amid a series of tiering and long excursions in Selcuk.
Villa Dreams claims to have the best views and it does! Our balcony overlooked the town of Selçuk, the fortress and the ruins of St. John's Basilica. Every evening, we looked forward to watching the sun as it set and, later, the moon along with Venus above Ayasoluk Hill. The staff was helpful in recommending restaurants and how best to visit Ephesus, and breakfast was wonderful! Instead of a buffet, it was served to us at our table.
The property, room, and views were all gorgeous!! We really loved the Turkish bath in our room and the full closet setup to hang up our clothes. If you eat at the restaurant, definitely try the curry chicken. It was probably my favorite meal in all of Turkey. I really loved the mythology theme to the hotel and the view of town at night was beautiful. It was such a great stay!
Hard to believe such a beautiful hotel is in a mountain village only 8km from Ephesus. The staff is incredibly helpful and welcoming, the food is the best we had in our travels in Turkey. The breakfast is a feast. And the houses are beautiful, old Ottoman style. We would come again just to stay and eat here !!
Hotel Kalehan blew us away- the food in their restaurant was some of the best we had in all of Turkey, after multiple high end places in Istanbul. The grounds were gorgeous with tons of flowers everywhere, and a lovely pool. We loved the staff and had a lovely stay. Highly recommend for anyone in the area!
Overall, our stay at Nisanyan Hotel in Selçuk was delightful. The boutique hotel boasts a peaceful atmosphere and is conveniently located near Ephesus, just a short drive away. The stunning views over Sirince village were truly memorable. The breakfast spread was rich, fresh, and delicious.
The best host you may ever meet. Really awesome guy who will explain you everything and guide though local places of interest. Very nice and cozy hotel right near Efes and Artemis Temple. Closed parking, so you are not afraid for your car.
The property and facilities were absolutely beautiful and extremely comfortable. The staff at the hotel were also extremely friendly, warm, and accommodating. If we are ever back in Selçuk, we would stay here again in a heartbeat.
An absolutely charming hotel. The staff took so much care to create a delightful experience. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was exceptional - the best we had in Turkeye!
Super comfortable bed, good curtain that blocks light (difficult to find in Turkey). Call for pray couldn't be heared, so we could sleep in. Nice breakfast and easy to park in the street around.
Good location, some nice shops and restaurants around the corner. Pretty old building, nicely decorated and super clean rooms. Breakfast was very good, although not the best we had in Turkey ;)
