Fun for the Whole Family
Located next to Walt Disney World, the city of Kissimmee was founded in the mid-19th century. It is located on the shores of Lake Tohopekaliga, and is the seat of Osceola County, Florida. Kissimmee offers not only a range of hotels near Disney World, but includes a charming historic downtown and activities in contact with nature.
The small town benefited economically during the last years of the 19th century thanks to a drainage operation in the territory of southern Florida that used the area near the city as a base. But the economic crisis in 1893 forced the operation to stop, in the same moment that harsh weather ruined the citrus industry. The opening of Walt Disney World in 1971 brought a real economic renaissance.
The city also includes several modern sports complexes, like the Osceola County Softball Complex. Activities in the surroundings range from cruises through the lake, to visits to the Kennedy Space Center. Hotels in Kissimmee can become a perfect base to explore central Florida, including nearby Orlando.

Kissimmee/Orlando area is a high tourist area and expenses are high here but they don’t have to be. Plenty to see and do that doesn’t cost anything such as Margaritaville where live bands play on Saturday nights and national parks to explore. Come prepared with lots of patience for the traffic, and coins for the toll roads.

They did not make the bed for us for the two nights we stayed there. We had to call them to replace towels every time. I was disappointed. Very close to all the theme parks. Easy to get to from Orlando International Airport. Great selection of shops and restaurants within a short drive. Supermarkets within 10 minutes of the villa we stayed at.

Kissimmee is ideally located for all the theme parks and water parks. We would breafast at Golden coral or Denny's or iHop. Our main reason for going to Kissimmee was to visit Disney World. We did not have an opportunity to take advantage of other attractions and the many shopping options. The kids club means that there are facilities for kids, don't expect animators or organized activities. Poor breakfast as everywhere in the US. If you have bad luck of noisy neighbours expect to stay awake because there is no insulation. The motel is made of cardboard.
