The only nice thing about this place was the beds were comfortable. I wouldn't recommend this place. It's not warm and fuzzy. It's a boarding house with little assistance from the proprietor.
Offering a garden, Hale Mauna Loa Upper Level with shared Hot Tub provides accommodations in Volcano. This property offers access to a balcony, free private parking, and free Wifi.

We had a great stay at Hale Mauna Loa, communication was easy, the house was amazing, very spacious and clean, being surrounded by nature and it sounds, it was a very relaxing stay.
We loved it.

This was our second stay at Volcano Village Estates. My husband and I chose to come back this year for my birthday. I called ahead to ask about our stay and Lafayette was very helpful with places to find dinner and details about our stay. John also reached out to us by text to offer extra options and accommodations should we want them. Upon arrival, the greeting was warm and inviting once again. They made me feel very special and cared about. I appreciate that very much. The estate is a very lovely place and I can’t wait to come back. Huge Mahalo ❤️

We enjoyed walking the short trail behind the Lodge as well as the longer trails in the nearby Park. Kilauea Lodge is a warm, welcoming facility.
Volcano Eco Cabin Retreat is a chalet located in Volcano, 9.9 mi from Kilauea and 6 mi from Volcano National Park's entrance.

The cabin was super cute and tidy. Very relaxing to fall asleep to the sound of rain. We were able to finally slow down and destress from our busier time on the Kona side.

The green, beautiful lush forest-like atmosphere in Volcano was so breathtaking! It was peaceful and quiet (except at night) you could hear the little frogs (koki frogs) nonstop but you eventually rest and they fade as you get closer to sleep.
Even driving feels awesome!

The park was very crowded around dusk.
The park was very crowded around dusk. There were lots of cars and few places to park. It might not be that way if the volcano had not been erupting. Because of previous eruptions, part of the rim road was blocked making fewer places to actually view the caldera. Make a reservation at one of the 2 restaurants at the Volcano House for dinner around sunset for the best views. Take a sweater or sweatshirt. The wind was chilly in June. We ate at the Rim restaurant. The food was very good. Expect to pay over $35 per person without cocktails. We were dressed for a nice restaurant and were disappointed that so many people were so very casual. But, it is vacation and Hawaii.

The volcano itself was absolutely incredible.
The volcano itself was absolutely incredible. Doesn't matter how old you are, it's just one of those things that fascinates and draws you in. Must see for anyone who has the opportunity since you never know when it will shut down.

Volcano National Park is amazing!
Volcano National Park is amazing! I would plan to spend at least a day and a half there if you are visiting Big Island. There is so much to do - the highlights include hiking across a crater and visiting during the dark (after sunset or before sunrise) to see the eruption!

Although our accommodation here was nothing amazing, the location cannot be left out of your big island itinerary! I wish someone had have told us to visit the National Park after sunset (or at sunrise) before our final day here!! That would be my top tip to people staying in this area. It would have been great to see the glowing lava.

Got to see the crater smoking with hot lava, but the weather was cool and misty/foggy, so no "orange glow." The place was packed with tourists, even so. Parking lots overflowed. We enjoyed most the early morning (6am) walk to the eruption site: very few people. Many nene sitings. The Volcano House restaurant has a less-expensive sister, the Rim restaurant, right next door. Good food, great views, but like everywhere on the Island, trés expensive. Next time I would bring more money!
Other than the park lodge this was definitely the best place to stay in the Volcano National Park Area. The room was very clean, spacious and well furnished. and I imagine s were much nicer than the park lodge however the lodge had a bar and restaurant which seemed pretty lively. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We had dinner at the restaurant which was good but a little on the pricey side but still nice. Able to park right outside the building.
From the minute you walk in it feels very welcoming. Very peaceful and clean. The house is in a neighborhood with locals but very quiet and everybody was friendly. Very close to all activities in the Volcano area. About 20 minutes from Hilo. The house has one bedroom in the main quarters with a kitchen and living room. Another two bedrooms each with bathrooms in the back connected by an outdoor patio. It was perfect for our teenage kids to stay there.
We loved everything about the Teapot Cottage! The location was so close to Volcano National Park yet secluded to enjoy the beautiful nature surrounding us. It was absolutely beautiful inside & out with the utmost attention to the smallest details. The breakfast foods provided were scrumptious & made our trip that much easier & so memorable. The communication was fantastic & staying here was a highlight of our island trip. Thank you!
I loved the beautiful rainforest neighborhood and the clean and charming way the rooms were decorated. The hosts were wonderful and really enjoyed getting to know them during the wonderful breakfast they provided. it was extremely conveniently located near the Volcanoes National Park and being able to stay late at the park to view the lava at night and not having to drive far at night.
Exceptional breakfast and snacks. Cosy room to relax in after a day of hiking and exploring. Great location close to the Volcano national park and a short drive away to local restaurants and cafes. Very comfortable bed and well equipped kitchenette. The hosts thought of everything required for a comfortable stay. Photos don't do the room justice. This place will be hard to beat!
The room was clean, and very nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable, and the coffee and snacks were much appreciated. The location was perfect for exploring Volcanoes National Park. Hearing all the birds singing at night was very cool! Wifi also worked very well. Overall, a very enjoyable part of our Hawaii vacation!
This place is fantastic! I highly highly recommend booking this. The room is fantastic, it has private access, it's spacious, it's cosy, the location couldn't be better for Volcano National Park and to watch the lava in the crater and the it's very good value for money.
Excellent choice for a Volcano stay, right outside the park. Owners were kind, helpful and accommodating. Our plans changed at the last minute and they went out of their way to make sure that we were still able to stay and enjoy.
A perfect location for exploring Volcanoes National Park. Such wonderful hosts. The property had everything we needed for our two night stay. The rainforest surrounding was superb. Would recommend this property to everyone.
The hotel is 7 minutes from the national park. Such a great convince allowing us to go during the day and at night to see the volcano. Our room was great!!! Very big and spacious. Go there! You will have a good time!
Wonderful location in the middle of rainforest! Very comfortable room with a lot of space and the breakfast made by the host was very tasty. Definitely going to come back if we'll visit Big Island again!
Loved the artsy house and beautiful yard, made it feel like a real home with Hawaiian decor. Beds were comfortable and location to the national park was optimal. Advance communications were very helpful.
The location and the ambiance. Away from the big hotel tourist crowds. Quiet, lush and 5 minutes from Volcano National Park entrance! Small fun restaurants and general store ver close. Owner was so nice!
Great location, close to Hawaii Volcano National Park. The property is very well maintained and professionally cleaned/sanitized. It has everything we need during our stay. We would stay there again.
The corner window to the view of the rainforest was great! The room itself felt very secluded and private. The location was very ideal for getting to the volcano national park.
In a lush green setting, this rustic spot is great for anyone wanting to soak up the natural beauty of Volcano. Spacious , easy and plenty of amenities.
