Everything! The location was perfect for everything we wanted to do. Breakfast was amazing every morning ( Texas shaped waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruit, yogurt, pastries, cereal, toast, granola bars, all ingredients to make breakfast tacos, milk, orange juice, coffee, apple juice, lemonade). The rooms were spacious, cleaned every day, and the beds were extremely comfortable. Parking was free and staff walked the parking lots every 30 mins or so at night to make sure all vehicles were good. The staff was absolutely amazing and always friendly and so nice. Walter and Yash were my favorites! Walter was the absolute best and can turn anyone's day into a positive one with his funny and cheerful self! This honestly was the best hotel we have stayed at to date!!!! The price was extremely reasonable!! The kids loved the pool and even though it was in a smaller size it still fit everyone's needs! Will definitely stay here again. I'm usually a Hampton Hotel person but this hotel just changed that!

FAQs about hotels in San Antonio

The Legend of the West

San Antonio in Texas is home to 2 of the state’s top attractions: The Alamo and the Riverwalk. One of the city’s former Spanish missions, the Alamo was the site of a deadly battle that cost folk hero Davy Crockett his life. The other remaining missions - Concepcion, San Jose, San Juan, and Espada with its aqueduct - are dotted around the city. The attractive Spanish Governor’s Palace also remains.

The San Antonio River runs right through the city, below street level. Known as the Riverwalk, its banks have been cleverly developed to house riverfront restaurants, bars and shops, and are spectacularly lit for Christmas. There are several San Antonio hotels by the Riverwalk which are also close to the Rivercenter Mall, the city’s biggest shopping center, while La Villita artisan village has more traditional crafts.

Across the road in Hemisfair is the Tower of the Americas, a tall observation tower with a revolving restaurant overlooking the Alamodome, a huge sports and convention venue, home to the annual Alamo Bowl collegiate football game. Booking.com has several San Antonio hotels near the Alamodome, and more accommodations near San Antonio Airport.

On the outskirts of the city are Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. The city also hosts the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, one of the country’s biggest Western events.

A great city to visit! So much to learn about Texas History! Also, so very many choices of activities! The construction in downtown was frustrating to drive around! I would avoid the park & pay, because I’m not good with some things on my phone. (I am 75) We ate on the Riverwalk!

I went for an event, so we only got to stay 1 night but I've been in the past 2 times for vacations. All I can say is plan your visit, the worst thing is sitting around deciding on what to do. Also the riverwalk was a waste for us because we spent $ on parking and didn't do anything. We went around 7-8pm so a lot of people were drinking and that's not for us. So if you go there have a plan because we didn't really know what all to do before the zoo and ot being a tourist location. Things are expensive. Though I can say, from the past 2 times in my life of going I recommend taking some tours, going to the drive through safari and natural Bridge caverns, SeaWorld, and definitely visit a mall or 2. Traffic wasn't bad but there are a lot of exits etc but you'll be fine if you're a decent driver.

My kids and I enjoyed walking around the Historic Market Square and seeing all of the colorful items for sale. Many of the products I saw- especially clothing- were authentic, "made in Mexico" items. We also enjoyed a good "stick-to-your-ribs" meal at Good Time Charlie's. We are also glad that we took a Go Rio boat tour along the Riverwalk to learn more about the history of the area; our tour guide was very informative and entertaining. We tried puffy tacos at Henry's express location because we were running short on time before our flight home and I thought the food was OK; I'd like to try Ray's puffy tacos on our next visit.

We had a wonderful stay at The Madison in the King William Historic District this November. We loved the free parking which was a plus as all the hotels next to the Riverwalk charge $30+ a day for parking. Our host, Kevin, greeted us when we arrived and was very helpful answering all our questions and showing us how things worked in our apartment. We enjoyed the neighborhood cafes which were in walking distance from The Madison. If we ever come back to San Antonio and the Riverwalk, we will definitely stay at The Madison.

It was a great location. Opened my curtains and right there was the Riverwalk. The staff was wonderful. The hotel was very clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was a reasonable extra charge but very good food for a buffet style. For a location directly on the Riverwalk we felt this hotel was a good deal as it includes on site parking in their parking garage. One side of the hotel faces the Riverwalk and you might get a room on that side at no extra cost if you request it.

We just loved the feel of the hotel. The music in the Colonial Room and by the pool were perfect for setting the ambiance of an old hotel. 40s music for breakfast, 50s poolside... it was just absolutely perfect.
