In my opinion, Sapa is now an extremely bad place to stay for more than a day or two. Crowded with people and traffic, a very noisy city full of smog and garbage. On the other hand, it is an ideal base for short scooter trips to the surrounding areas. But if you can, look elsewhere for cheaper accommodation. We found good food only with great difficulty and very far from the center, basically unreachable without a motorbike. Today, Sapa is a classic tourist attraction with all the classic ills of the tourism industry.

The city of Sapa has turned into a super touristic city,...
The city of Sapa has turned into a super touristic city, with crowding, bustle and traffic jams on the streets. Everything is very expensive with very low value for money.
Unfortunately we encountered many children in local costumes dancing or taking photos with tourists for a few baht. Local organizations advise tourists not to give money or candy to children so as not to encourage them to drop out of school.
However, the surrounding villages are very beautiful to enjoy the nature, the wonderful view, peace and quiet, The transportation from Sapa to the villages is relatively cheap for citizens who trade with Euro or Dollar. In the surrounding villages there are many good options for accommodation and food with wonderful nature, good services and reasonable prices. There are many hiking trails and all hoteliers can arrange to have a guide at a low price. You can thus meet people from some local tribes and discuss their way of life.
Prefer the surrounding villages, anyway no attractions are inside Sapa.
Currency exchange is not very easy. ATMs only spoke Vietnamese, the bank only opened in the morning, and the currency exchange shop gave a much lower rate. For credit or debit card transactions they charged an additional 5%. Many attractions only accepted cash for the ticket.
In summary I recommend staying outside of Sapa and carrying enough cash.

Sapa is a well known tourist destination.
Sapa is a well known tourist destination. The Cable Car to Fansipan was really awesome. The Cable Cars are a bit expensive for Vietnam standards, but it's completely understandable considering the engineering used to build it. They are still much cheaper than ones I've been on other places in the world(Hong Kong, Gatlinburg USA, others).
The Glass Elevator/Bridge about 30 minutes drive from the city was an amazing experience and highly recommended.
Around the Sapa station area, we tried to sit and relax from walking around all day. Some street sellers dressed in ethnic outfits stood right next to us even after we said no several times. Even after we bought something, 2 more of them showed up and wanted us to buy more. After 10 minutes we had to leave, because we couldn't relax due to their aggressive selling.

Fansipan summit is a breath taking view from suspension...
Fansipan summit is a breath taking view from suspension cable cab. Buy the tickets one way to the summit, then walking down to visit all the pagodas. Bring along a warm coat, ears cover because the summit weather is unpredictable. The day we visited Fansipan, lowland temperature was 19 degree Celsius with clear sky and fully sunny, by the time we reached the summit around 11am. the temperature was dropped down to 2 degree Celsius with high wind and partial cloudy. Most Sapa villages have unpaved trail, be sure to purchase knee high waterproof boots at the Sapa main market if you plan to visit those villages during rainy season. Bring small Vietnamese currency such as 1000VND or 2000VND if you want to give out to the little kids beggar or for a chance to take a picture with them

Sapa is a bit overhyped thanks to Social Media.
Sapa is a bit overhyped thanks to Social Media. I would stay 4 days in total. Two for hiking, once north, once south (or taking motorbike tours), one for a traditional ethnic workshop like batik or embroidery and one to go up Fansipan, the highest mountain in Indochina.
Sapa is a small city that has become increasingly touristic and you will encounter several places that operate with fake google ratings.
The staff were amazing, really helpful and polite! The location was amazing just 5 mine away from a great pub and 10 mins away from the center of town. The facilities were completely clean and there was complimentary tea coffee and water available.
Beds were very comfy especially compared to other hotels I went to in Vietnam. Breakfast was incredible it was buffet style service and a free option off the large breakfast menu as well included. 10/10 definitely recommend for a stay in sa pa
Everything! I booked this place about 2 minutes before I showed up as my original hotel fell through, and got super lucky. The location was great, central but slightly off the main street so nice and quiet overnight; the place was very clean and very comfortable and the service/hospitality was phenomenal. By far the best accommodation experience I had in over 3 weeks in Vietnam. They have 2 cats and a dog and it was just really homely. Highly recommend.
The best hotel we had in Vietnam ! Super clean room, great breakfast, helpful staff and comfy beds. Kim the hotel manager was the nicest! He let us leave our bags for a night after check out (we went to a track) and even got us a room so we could shower. We had a long bus drive after and we didn’t had time to buy food so the staff made us sandwiches! If you go to Sapa you have to go to this great, lovely hotel. we had a blast 🫶🏻
I LOVED my stay at La Beauté Sa Pa. A beautiful and calm location, friendly host and fantastic food! I did a cooking class and hike through the homestay and she also helped me book taxi’s, buses etc as well as letting me check in late.
The vibe was great and I appreciate their lovely service. My favourite food I’ve eaten since I came to Vietnam!
I wish I could’ve stayed longer! Would definitely come back.
Fantastic hotel! With heated pool and sauna Amazing set up .The location is great, close to the center Rooms are clean, the mattresses are wonderful. This also applies to breakfast, both intercontinental and Vietnamese. The tour organize by the guide at desk is nice trek to some village up in mountain where you I can see and feel relax and service comes with a big smile, which makes you happy!
Located at the center of the city it is Good value for the money… hotel staff is very helpful and cheerful….. we got our Tracking mountain done through the hotel which came out be more economical than if we had done it separately……rooms are quite comfortable and spacious …… highly recommend to indulge in their spa services …..we enjoyed our stay at Moc homestay Sapa
We stayed in Muong Hoa View Hotel during our recent visit to Sa Pa, Vietnam. The room is located at a short distance from Sun Plaza and Notre Dame Cathedral. The room was very spacious and clean with all modern amenities for a comfortable stay. The hotel offers amazing and breathtaking views of Muong Hoa Valley. The hotel staffs were friendly and courteous.
My wife and I stayed at Sapa Soleil and ended up extending our stay because it was so nice. The hotel is only a few months old and everything still looks brand new. The staff goes above and beyond to help make sure your stay is memorable.
We took advantage of the restaurant, pool, and massage services during our stay and they were all top notch.
We stayed here for 3 nights and felt like home with face full of smiles as well as great hospitality.
They stayed up late and allowed us to check in the middle of the night. Also accommodates our custom food requests.
It may not be a 5 star hotel but we will remember this stay as a highlight on our Vietnam trip.
Highly recommended ❤️
Staff can speak English, this is very very helpful when traveling in Vietnam. During winter time, the beds are equipped with warmer pad and it's already warmed when we enter our room! Staff also helpful in arranging transportation during our stay. We definitely recommend this homestay for your accomodation in Sa Pa.
The staff did an excellent job of accomadating and providing a very welcoming experience. The hotel offered all the general amenities in a casual of environment. The attentiveness and urgency in customer care will always be remembered. I will recommend the Eden Central to anyone who funds Sapa in their destination.
This was one of the best hotels we've stayed in Vietnam. View from our room balcony was breathtaking. The staff working here really try to help you in anyway they can, they always greet you with a smile. Room was really clean and comfortable and plenty of options for breakfast. We would love to come back here again.
If one ever ends up in Sapa, one of the best hotels I have ever seen in my travels and unbeatable when it comes to value for money!
The staff was amazing, special thanks to the early check-in and the reception staff who really helped!
Breakfast was very good, location perfect
This was the nicest hotel we stayed in whilst travelling Vietnam. The hotel is brand new and everything feels so clean and fresh. The rooms are really bright and spacious, with super comfortable beds. The owners where very helpful with everything. It is worth to comeback.
The hotel is absolutely beautiful! The pool and rooftop bar are amazing and the breakfast was so delicious with a great variety of Vietnamese and western food! the interior and exterior were both equally matched in their beauty!
The staff were the kindest we have seen in Vietnam, great rooms and great breakfast. We want trekking, and The manager offered us to come back to the hotel after to trek to take a shower for free even days after checkout.
The family owned hotel is the best experience in whole Vietnam so far for as :)
They are perfectly prepared, organized and so kind.
We enjoyed our visit and would come again!
The hotel is beautiful and was beautifully decorated for Christmas. In room dining (Vietnamese food) was tasty and good value for money. Very quick laundry service.
