It is definitely a hidden gem in the wild. Either you love it or you hate it. We definitely loved it and had an amazing time. You will also love it IF you are a nature lover, want to relax in a very serene and natural atmosphere, are searching for a different kind of hotel experience off the beaten track and shiny 5 star hotels. Be aware, that you won’t have aircondition in your room, but due to the jungle location, it gets cooler at night than in other locations. The food is very delicious and offers locally sourced products. Our favourite was the green banana curry and the oat meals for breakfast.

Breakfast was very tasty, the staff are all lovely and helpful. The hotel is up a fairly steep hill, we would usually walk down it and find a tuk tuk and sometimes walk up it if a tuk tuk couldn't take us up.

For our last 3 nights in Sri Lanka, we picked the Sayura beach hotel, because we were 9 people and could not find a hotel in Unawatuna that had 6 rooms available. It turned out to be a great choice, because the hotel was excellent and situated on a small beach where we could swim with turtles every morning. The hotel itself was very nice, with huge rooms and fantastic sea views. The rooms were spotlessly clean, great showers and large balcony, that overlooked the beach,
Breakfast each morning was a feast and there was a large choice on the menu to suit everyone. The staff were very friendly and the beach setting was just perfect. Although you could not swim in front of the hotel, only 50m to the left on the beach was a large lagoon with no waves that was perfect for people and kids to swim with turtles.
It was only a 5min tuk tuk ride into Unawatuna, so we were very near in the nightime, when we wanted to try some restaurants and bars. I would recommend this hotel as a great spot to stay.
