Ideally located in the highest village in Portugal, El Rei Dom Manuel Hotel is housed in a historic building, its rooms offer breathtaking and stunning views over the landscapes of Portugal and Spain.... A hidden gem in a beautiful mountain village. We booked this last minute as a stopover for one night and regretted not staying longer. A small, cozy, family run hotel. The staff were really helpful and pleasant. The food was delicious and the ambience was very relaxing. You cant go wrong with this lovely hotel.

Located in 2 small traditional whitewashed houses in Marvão, this charming pousada offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains from its restaurant. Location was unique for us , our first time to stay inside a fortress/walled city. It’s comfy,BF was standard but quite good.

Hotel José Régio has a fitness center, garden, a shared lounge and bar in Portalegre. This 4-star hotel offers an ATM and a business center. The room was incredible. The choice of pillows allowed me to find "just right". Location close to bus station and near tourist sites.

Located in the heart of historical Portalegre, Rossio Hotel is a themed eco-friendly, design hotel, which features solar panels, UTA units in the rooms and reuses rainwater for several purposes. room was very good and quiet with a good bathroom, Breakfast was excellent, and the receptionist was very nice and supper helpful I will definitely stay there again.

Surrounded by the lush forests of the São Mamede Mountains in Portalegre, this former convent is decorated with several historic armors, weapons and antiques. The hosts/owners and their daughters were very nice and welcoming. The bed and overall comfort were also pretty good. They have 3 donkeys and one of them is pregnant so expect a new little one in a few weeks if you visit.
