The room was so nice, great views of Okanagan Lake and vineyards. The room was very thoughtfully designed, and the patio was a nice addition to be able to sit with a glass of wine and enjoy the view. The breakfast was such a nice touch, and the patio it was served on also had a fantastic view. We loved everything about our stay!

The town is just 5 to 7 miles north of Penticton and 35-40 minutes south of Kelowna. It is convenient, especially to those wanting to be in close proximity to Penticton. There are several wineries close to Summerland and fruit and vegetables stands ( of course the latter in the summer months). Summerland also has bike trails that enable one to ride to ODore Lake and Princeton. Those wanting to ride horses will also enjoy (and share) the bike trail that runs parallel to the Kettle Valley rail.

We used the property as a base to visit the beach and visit the local area - went to Penticton. If we'd had longer we would have visited a few of the local wineries but ran out of time. Shaughnessy's Cove was a nice place for an evening meal with a view of the lake.

Variety of hiking / walking trails was great, as were the challenging golf courses which were carved out of a combination of mountains and canyons. E.G., some greens were pretty challenging to hit! There were a variety of different types of restaurants but beware: many (like the Chinese food place) were only open for lunch and virtually none were open past 7:30 PM. We especially enjoyed the Japanese Bistro. You have to be in pretty fit condition to hike or cycle in Summerland due the incline of many roads and trails.

Summerland Downtown had lots of small individual shops.

Summerland Downtown had lots of small individual shops. It is near the Kettle Valley Railway which is definitely worth a trip. The lakeshore is children-friendly and has good amenities for all, young and old. There are hikes up the Giant's Head Mountain which has amazing views when you reach the top. We visited Thornhaven Winery and Lunessence Winery. They both had superb views from their patios. We received a warm welcome and our tasting was tailored to the different wines we were interested in. Everyone was ready to please.

Summerland was a quaint little place with tons of cute antique and vintage shops, local microbrewery, bakery and wonderful coffee shops. I loved walking the downtown in the mornings before it got hot! Very friendly people live here. A lovely 2 day stop over. Thank you! Check out the Country kitchen for a wonderful breakfast!

There were ants crawling up our bathroom wall. The fan in the bathroom was loud, squeaky and not always working. The AC did not keep the room comfortably cool. I was saddened to see the run down motel that years ago was impeccable. Unfortunately would not stay there again.
