I can’t say enough good things about this gem of a place. The decor, attention to detail, and general vibe of the Karoo Moon House was incredible. It was a real shame we couldn’t stay longer - it would have been a perfect long weekend. We also really appreciated the little extras that were provided in the house. We would come back to Barrydale just to stay here!

Barrydale is a small town with a lot of potential. Wonderful artistic shops and drop in eateries. Amazing 2nd hand bookshop - new books also available - I couldn't leave!! Close to Warmwaterberg - a must for a visit, not far from Swellendam and Witsand - beautiful beach. Lovely walks in the hills around the village.

It is lovely, safe and quiet.
It is lovely, safe and quiet. Most of the restaurants close at 5pm, so don't expect to eat out at a nice restaurant. Fortunately the guest house we were staying at was spacious and comfortable, and so we made a plan to buy our own food and eat in. But seriously, going out to eat should be an option.

One of the highlights was the sense of peace and tranquillity we felt in this authentic ‘dorp’. The solitude of the town provided a serene backdrop, making our stay truly magical.
Exploring the town and its surroundings was a delightful adventure. Quaint local shops, friendly faces, and the simplicity of life in the Karoo made our stay truly authentic. My list of mandatory places to visit would be Diesel and Crème for their out-of-this-world milkshakes, The House of Books (a paradise for any bibliophile), The Karoo Art Hotel for coffee or a gin and the gorgeous décor and coffee shop ‘Die Langhuis’
This gem on the border of the Karoo has the potential to become an even more coveted destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat in this unique South African landscape.
In summary, our time in this small town was a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of big city life.

Accommodation was quirky and cool.
Accommodation was quirky and cool. I will definitely be back at Karoo Moon Cottage soon!
Had a great dinner with the mother and son run Mez and Karoo Kitchen. The service was outstanding and the changing menu well presented.
The trip over Tradouw Pass was a highlight, with all the waterfalls, after the recent rain.
This is a gorgeous hotel with some of the loveliest hosts. Everything seems effortless, from the excellent breakfasts to the decadent evening meals. The near restaurant, Mez, is an alternative for an evening meal.
The bar is a good place to meet similarly interesting people.
The artwork on display is eclectic and decorates the hotel beautifully.
Lovely garden. Great pool. Nothing not to like.
The facility was clean and comfortable. Lovely garden and lawn in the back flowing down to the river. Lots of shade and protection from wind.
Nice restaurants all around as well as a hotel just down the street.
Dinner at the MUD restaurant was top class.
Owner gave complete instructions about the facility and also restaurants around town.
I would happily got back to the Willows
Great location that affords both privacy but also easy access to main street and the roads in and out of Barrydale

Beautifully decorated home and garden. Our host, Uwe, was so friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations and information about Barrydale. We loved the homemade bread offered for breakfast. This is truly a classy place in Rural South Africa.
Highly recommend this lodge. Location super, great rooms - spotless, elegant, comfortable, generous size. The Lodge has a lovely art collection. Breakfast was great - muesli, fruit etc as well as full English breakfast. Fell in love with Barrydale.
A very comfortable place, which was perfectly clean and nicely decorated. We immediately felt at home. After a good night sleep we had the breakfast at the owners coffee place in a great setting. Recommended when you pass through Barrydale.
Great place to get away from the hussle and bustle. Beautifully nestled amongs the mountains and trees of the Bronze Grove Farm. Big farm to hike amd roam around on and its just down the road from Barrydale.

Location good, staff friendly - my room was great, other guests with me had a very below average room "honey moon suite" Dark and damp. Concept of the hotel is very good and the setting is great.
the owner is just amazing, what a lovely lady, stunning house, great location, she even booked us in at a great restaurant so that was a great service.
