Limerick revels in one of Ireland’s most iconic views – the River Shannon curving past King John’s Castle, a 12th-century fortress that could have come straight from a Grimm fairytale. Frank McCourt wrote ‘Angela’s Ashes’ about his childhood here, and his former school is a museum about him, set amid elegant Georgian architecture in the Newtown Pery district. Equally attractive is the custom house, now housing the Hunt Museum's eclectic collection of art and artefacts.
The 12th-century St Mary’s Anglican Cathedral is the city’s oldest building used daily, while St John’s Catholic Cathedral has Ireland’s tallest spire. The coexistence of the two is symbolic of the 17th-century accord between Jacobites and Williamites, supposedly signed on the Treaty Stone.
The Milk Market is a bustling hub of local produce sellers, and the shops of pedestrian Cruises Street are surrounded by restaurants and bars offering great nightlife, including some where you can jig to traditional Irish folk tunes.
The city is also sports mad. Munster Rugby play in Thomond Park, while the Gaelic Grounds ring with the sounds of hurling and Gaelic football supporters. Golf courses, a racecourse and greyhound stadium complete the picture.
Booking.com’s Limerick accommodation includes luxury hotels with spas and swimming pools, and cheap apartments near Shannon Airport.

Limerick is a really friendly city.
Limerick is a really friendly city. There are loads of lovely places to eat at reasonable prices. Nice shops. Pretty castle. Loads of parking places. Milk market at the weekends is a nice place to go for a couple of hours. Lovely churches too. The story cafe is a super place for breakfast or lunch.

Surprising to discover the extensive number of fine residential roads into city centre with beautiful old properties. Lovely quayside for strolling and a great choice of cafes and restaurants. Very satisfied with all our choices.
Didn't see everything Limerick has to offer so would be willing to return again.

Limerick isn’t what I expected… it’s much nicer. The people are friendly and welcoming in most areas. Some areas are a little scary and wouldn’t like to be on my own but overall the city itself has a great buzz. Great restaurant options and copious amounts of coffee shops. Cool and trendy with traditional areas too.

We booked a king room.
We booked a king room. Unexpectedly, our room was actually a suite. We were presently surprised, and it was large enough to entertain our other couple who traveled with us. The one downside: we were on the front of the hotel, overlooking the street, and it was very noisy at night. The A/C didnt work in the hotel and we were on the 7th floor, so we slept with the windows opened. We were offered another fan, but declined, as the daytime temperature was comfortable with opened windows.

Limerick is a lovely city to visit with nice river walks by the Shannon. There are lots of places to visit in County Limerick, Adare, Lough Gur and Grange Stone Circle all a short drive from the city.
The location was excellent. Fairly near to both Limerick's main transport hubs. Arthur's Quay, and the train station. As soon as you get out of the Hotel, the view of the River Shannon accompanied by Ireland's typical greenery, welcomes you.
The Hotel's pub is an outstanding experience in itself....and the food served there is possibly the best food that I've had in my 6 days at Ireland. You don't have to ask the staff for anything.......because what you expected is already there.
This was a perfect choice for a first few days in Ireland. The overall experience was comfortable and convenient which is important when dealing with jet lag and unfamiliarity with your surroundings. The breakfast was absolutely worth the price and I highly recommended pre-paying for it when you book this hotel! It's centrally located in Limerick right on the Shannon river, and just about a 1/2 a block from Dolan's pub which has great music on the weekends.
We have been traveling around Ireland and were drawn to the sleek design of the Bedford. It definitely isn’t the cheapest place in Limerick, but for us it was worth it for the comfort. The gym is very tight, but there is a lot of equipment. Also, the sauna that is listed is actually a steamroom, though that is nice as well. The breakfast was great value and we would recommend the Bedford to anyone passing through Limerick! We would come back.
Check in was not smooth. The women working the desk was snarky and asked me if I really had a reservation. I booked through booking .Com and had a confirmation #. It took her 15 minutes to find my Reservation uner my 1st name? So strange didn't happen at the 4 other hotels I booked in Ireland. Sorry this is what I didn't like and the bar manager seems to have a problem with older clientele.
My wife and I wanted to get out of Limerick for the start of our adventure in southwest Ireland, and Rathkeale House proved a perfect choice. Our room was excellent, the staff was delightful, and both dinner and breakfast in the inn were great. We enjoyed a morning jog on the Limerick Greenway which starts a few minutes walk from the hotel. Definitely recommend a stay.
Exceptional welcome and treatment from an extremely efficient and reliable staff. The breakfast was superb once again. This cannot be beaten by any five star hotel I have used in Ireland. The location of The George makes it the one of the most sought after in Limerick city. Thanks for a truly memorable visit.
The hotel is about 15 - 20 minutes walk from the city centre so the location is very good. The hotel was very busy on both evenings but the service was excellent. The manager was very helpful and all staff were courteous and polite.
If we are ever in Limerick again I would certainly stay at the Woodfield.
Easy to drive to and find in our rental car. The history and architecture added to the background feel of Ireland. Helpful notes about the residents and how the Castle came to be. Gorgeous landscaping and decor. Complimentary upgrade to a suite, with a dessert platter on welcome for our wedding anniversary.
Check in was extremely easy. Underground parking was easy to find. Room was good size. Wifi was good. I didn't eat at the hotel as I was visiting family and ate with them but I used the gym and pool and both were good.
Location of hotel was good too. a quick 5-10 minute drive into Limerick city.
This is one of the rare properties that has not followed the rip of Ireland brigade and vastly hiked their prices like all other accommodation inLimerick city center.Very reasonably priced ; pity it’s only available during summer months .
Thank you Courtback .
First of all Sharon ...the nicest welcome and helpful with all things about our tour .we dont have the wirds to thank her. The hotel is located in the middle of the city center close to all point of interest by walking. Very comfortable bed..big and clean.
Very well situated in Limerick city centre. The room was large and confortable. The pub is amazing (especially the cocktails). The hotel doesn't have a car park, but there is one cheap and very close to it.
The hotel was near the busstop and right into the city centre. The staff was very helpful. I could leave my bags in the hotel after checkout and enjoy Limerick a bit longer!
Initial front desk staff weren't the friendliest however the night shift was great. Parking right next door cost about 9 Euros for the night. Easy walking to Limerick city
Staff were great.Room was clean.Very secure hotel..secure parking. Everybody was so welcoming and smiles were at every corner.Well done Maldron Limerick.
