Accommodation in Bacalar

We came to Hotel Playa Laguna Front to unplug, relax, and enjoy the lagoon -- and that's exactly what we did for 5 days. The hotel is in a prime location, sitting at perhaps the most colorful, swimmer-friendly part of the lagoon. You can tell it's a prime spot because a lot of boat tours end around this area to let people swim in the lighter waters there near the cenote. It's also only a couple kms from the town center, so you can easily get into town while still having enough distance from the more touristy center. The hotel itself isn't a fancy upscale place, but that's not what we were looking for. Nonetheless the hotel is new and the facilities are clean/modern with great bathrooms. The hotel is run by a lovely team who were really accommodating...big thanks to the manager Evaristo for always being there to help with any questions. Another great thing is that the kayaks and sup-boards are free to use from 6am to 6pm. The only day you can't use them is on Wednesday when no water activities (other than swimming) are allowed across the lagoon. Wednesdays are conservation days, with inactivity allowing the lagoon to restore itself.

Great location near the main square of Bacalar. Clean and nice property with probably the best shower we have experienced in our trip up from Central America.

Excellent value for money, villa on the shore of the lagoon. Kayaks and boat hire available for rent. Breakfast is a specific la carte menu but other items from the menu cost extra. Breakfast quality was ok.

I had a great stay at this hostel. Everything was well organized, the atmosphere was friendly, and there were plenty of activities that made it easy to meet other travelers and enjoy the destination. A special thank you to Armando at the reception for always being helpful, welcoming, and professional. I would also like to thank Flor, one of the volunteers, for her positive energy and kindness that made the experience even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this hostel and would be happy to stay here again!

Anita was a fantastic host! She was friendly, accomodating and provided us so much info prior to and during our stay. The bungalow was so cute. So clean and had the best shower we’ve had in Mexico. The dock area is nice - there are kayaks for guests to use. Highly recommend - and thanks Anita!!

Very close to the city center and to the lagoon. The staff was friendly and helpful and the facilities were beautiful! We stayed for one night and can highly recommend!

This was such a relaxing getaway. The location is perfect, just a short ride away from town and set right in the lagoon for all day swimming. The staff are so welcoming, friendly and attentive! The buffet breakfast is fantastic and there are lots of delicious options. I will definitely be back!

The location is incredible, and it's a haven of peace. You get to enjoy the sunrise over the laguna every morning, and as the hotel has only 8 units, it feels very confidential. The staff is incredibly kind, evening is perfectly clean, and the bed was probably the most confortable I've ever had. It's a charming place that makes you feel in paradise, we can only recommend!

Location was perfect, Room was amazing. Ultra clean. Family owned and run. Could walk from the ADO bus station (1.5 km maybe). Just up the road from the lagoon. And close to the centre, for food, drink and nightlife. Provided water to refill bottles, free coffee all day, and basic breakfast was provided. Thumbs up. Definite hidden gem in Bacalar. Maria was great, so helpful, and a pleasure to deal with. Best stay in Mexico so far, while touring.

Amazing location, right in the centre. Very comfortable stay, clean place and lovely hosts. He let us extend an extra night on such short notice. Highly recommend this place if you’re ever in Bacalar.

Everything. Your own little house, everything you need, quiet street next to main square. Best place I have stayed in ages
