Everything you need for a Roadside Hotel.
Everything you need for a Roadside Hotel. Outside and property was well maintained, clean and landscaped. Room was well appointed and for the most part really clean. I very much appreciate a laminate floor vs. carpet that you know is never clean. Had a a nice sized refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, ice machine. Area has grocery stores and restaurants in the area that you can walk to. (Just avoid the Mexican place across the street, unless you want some stomach upset! Trust me you'll thank me!) Again, was everything you needed and will book again for my Concours stay next year! Thank you!

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is spectacular!
The Monterey Bay Aquarium is spectacular! Give your self a good 3 to 4 hours to explore at your leisure. Our grandson (age 2) couldn't get enough of it. He also thoroughly enjoyed the "Dennis the Menace" Park. The Cannery which is next door to the Aquarium is fun place to browse and enjoy lunch at one of the nearby restaurants.
Fisherman's Wharf has turned into a tourist trap over the years so I would not recommend it.

We have many favorites in the Pacific Grove area.
We have many favorites in the Pacific Grove area. We love the ocean, beaches, sea life, tidepooling, sunsets, restaurants, the aquarium and point lobos.
Point Lobos needs to re examine the entrance process and parking. The rangers were not accomodating and a little rude as we arrived at the station. Unfortunately, we were unable to enter any of the days we visited, even with an early arrival. This has always been a highlight when we visit, we were quite disappointed.

Carmel by the sea is a lovely town full of restaurants and shopping places. The characteristic of Carmel is that at night time there are no street lights, lights comes from the restaurants and the stores open till late. It is a very charming town , must see it. The beach close by is beautiful and it was 20 minutes walking from our hotel

I would rather have stayed in Monterey but too expensive. Main street like any other town- fast foods, etc.
Great breakfast place: The Breakfast Club. Not cheapest but good food, good service. And freshly made waffles, not from frozen!

I had the best time and will definitely be back!
I had the best time and will definitely be back! As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe as I was visiting beaches, walking the streets downtown, hiking the state parks, etc. It was a clean and beautiful city with so much to do! If you have the opportunity - you MUST do a whale watching tour! I did the morning 4 hour tour through Monterey Bay Whale Watch and it was incredible! The only thing I did that felt like a bit of a waste was the aquarium - it is promoted heavily around town and I'm not sure if it's just because I've been to so many other better aquariums, but it felt overpriced and extremely small.

If I had only one word to describe Pacific Grove it would be "delightful"! It embodies everything I value - THE OCEAN, friendly folks, great bookstore, great coffee, ARTISTS GALORE in lots of shops and galleries, a beautiful yarn store, walkable to everywhere, good restaurants, comfortable and welcoming vibe. I would love to live here!

Room was clean, carpet smelled.
Room was clean, carpet smelled. We were given a room that was already occupied. I found out when I unlocked the door and opened it. Someone's things were inside. After notifying the manager, he ran to verify. Then, I was given a different room but I did not feel secure after this.

There was blood on the front door, the room was not clean.
There was blood on the front door, the room was not clean. The mirror was broken and the window was missing the screens. I brought two cars and the person at the front desk said I needed to park one of my cars at the business next door and said don’t worry about their private parking signs in the business next door parking lot. It was so gross in the bathroom, there was black hair all over the shower and bathroom floor and the bed blankets smelled so bad you can tell they have not been washed in months. I will never recommend that place to anyone. And I was over charged- I paid 400$/ night and the next day when I left their website said 78$ per night. It was embarrassing.
