I didn't really visit Wattens, I went for the Swarovski museum which I found disappointing and the prices in the shop were the same as anywhere else. Had an excellent meal in a hotel just down from hotel Alpenland ( can't remember the name)
Atmosphere was great. Absolutely charming little town with very friendly people. Recommend Ruetz Bakery for morning coffee and pastry or bread! Pronto Pasta provided a great selection of meat and cheese for us, before they even opened for lunch!
We had 3 excellent days skiing. We visited Innsbruck and Wattens and had more than enough to do. We were lucky that we had friends there because we got to see and do a lot that other tourists may not have experienced but that only highlighted the hospitality and warmth of the locals.
We only stayed one night and it was raining but the Swarovski Crystal world was open and busy. I would recommend it although it wasn't quite what I expected. There are a series of rooms some of which are breathtaking with their 'crystal experience' and there is a huge shop as well as play areas for children. It is quite expensive at 19 euros per adult and we probably wouldn't go again but we're pleased we had seen it once. We ate where we were staying at the Goldener Adler and I can recommend the food and service.
