Beautiful beachside town. Nice walkable rocks with blowhole between beaches. Penguins at night, Devils in the dark tour nearby at local wildlife park. Up close and personal with the devils and very informative guide
Very good location however the penguin tour was disappointing. Don’t stay here just for the tour. When the penguins are expected to arrive, the beach is gated off to the resort patrons for sole use by the clients of the commercial tour company. The resort’s “guide” gave NO instructions re bright lights or keeping quiet. We only stayed at this resort because of the tour.
Quiet seaside town, with plenty of accommodation options, but not a lot of eating options. Those that were open closed at 7pm, which forces you to eat dinner early, so if you don't want to do that be prepared to either cook in your room, if you can, or get something quick from the supermarket in town earlier. Can recommend the Blue Edge Bakery in town, plenty of tasty options there for lunch. Lovely beaches, with some nice walking trails, and also a short drive from the spectacular Freycinet National Park. It's a great spot to base yourself while you explore the many natural wonders nearby.
A lovely beachside community. Our family loved visiting the nightly Penguin Tour, the Blowhole, the Lobster Shack for a delicious lunch and great views including seals on the rocks, the Blue Edge Bakery for tasty pies (unfortunately Scallop pies were sold out) and the Farm Shed for wine tastings.
Bicheno is a lovely little place to stay to explore beautiful Wine Glass Bay (30 minute drive). It’s also only just over an hour’s drive to explore the Bay of Fires and beaches around Binnalong Bay. Sealife restaurant had good reviews but unfortunately was not open on our visit. We enjoyed fish & chips at the Lobster Shack which had lovely views out to the water and enjoyed coffee & morning tea at the bakery. Bicheno is only quite small and very easy to navigate.
Bicheno is a lovely spot, but if you are in for hiking, camping and exploring, a little further up the road is Coles Bay and Freycinet Nat Park. Well worth the visit. we will be going back and staying closer for some hikes and adventures.

Best value place we stayed on our Tasmanian road trip. Had everything we needed for a comfy, relaxed stay. Really appreciated the guest guide that explained how to view the penguins. We joined a tour on our first night but on the second felt confident enough to stroll down to the beach to see them ourselves.

Beautiful new apartment, spotlessly clean. Great location within easy walk to beach and town centre. Loved the bowl of chocolates - beautiful touch. Highly recommended. Will definitely stay here next time I am visiting Tasmania.
Spacious cabin. Comfortable bed. Large table with chairs. Refurbished bathroom with good water pressure and toiletries. Decent sized fridge and kitchen. Easy flat walk to hotel (good value food and drinks) and town centre.
Bicheno by the Bay is 100m from The Lobster Shack, 200m from the Bicheno Blowhole so a perfect location. The hotel type room was very neat and very comfortable and very clean. Perfect for our visit.
