Boonah is a beautiful, charming country town located in the heart of the Scenic Rim Council. We stayed in Boonah mainly for its proximity to the Queensland Moto Park, but wished that we had stayed longer to explore the region better. Boonah has great pubs. We particularly liked the Commercial and the Duganden. We had very nice steaks for dinner at the Duganden and enjoyed the country pub atmosphere with a Queensland feel courtesy of its wrap-around verandah. We had breakfast at the Flavours Cafe which is housed in a lovely historic building. The bacon and eggs were local and delicious. We also popped into buy fruit and vegetables at Oppy's Fruit and Veg which had lots of fresh chemical free produce from local farms. Everything we needed was within easy walking distance, including the charming BandB Hideaway on Hume where we stayed. I would love to return and explore some of the trails and wineries in the region.
We spent just one night in Boonah as part of out Scenic Rim weekend. We visited Summerland Camels and Harrisville, Boonah for afternoon and evening, then Aratula for the Winter Harvest Festival. Comfortable and convenient location for our stay. Particularly enjoyed our breakfast at Hummingbirds whole food cafe and shop next morning
The annual Clydesdale Spectacular is what drew us to the town of Boonah and it was great! Horses, working dogs, bullock teams, campfire dinner, pipe bands and wood chop events... just a lot of fun and a credit to the organising committee. We'll be there again next year and I heartily recommend this real bush treat.
The staff were Great and a short walk to the pubs and town .Everyone was so friendly. You don't realise how close our country towns are.More people should explore before its too late. The Boonah show is on in a month.
No fish specialist shop but the pub called Simon's tavern had good food and the locals were all very friendly. Boonah was just a base of operations for us whilst walking the main range tracks at cunninghams gap.
