Love it...we have enjoyed so many wonderful family occasions there now and we love the gardens, the water pools, the beaches, the entertainment, the pubs and the fireworks were just spectacular as was our ferry ride back to our accommodation on the city hopper...just a magic night that I will relive for a very long time to come. Thanks you Brisie!
Take your sunscreen and if you want to stay fit while visiting Brisbane, Southbank has paths for walking or jogging with the ability to provide a fairly enjoyable cycle too. Not full paced road cycling. Respect for pedestrian interaction needed.
Take your cozzies with you as they have an awesome family orientated Beach / Pool with Lifeguards everywhere. Perfect for the young and Young at Heart. Easy access to most areas for people use Wheelchairs. Don't forget your camera.:)
Just felt nervous of all the cyclists though, sharing the same path, they come up fast behind you with no warning. There were signs telling the pedestrians to be aware of cyclists - it should be the other way around. The cyclists should have to be aware of the pedestrians. It should be mandatory to have a bell on the bicycle and to use it when coming up behind walkers. Someone (an Australian told us how his wife had been badly hurt by a cyclist in another Australian city. I found people speeding past on bikes intimidating.
This very comfortable and stylish hotel is strolling distance to the South Bank parklands. Our king suite was spacious, well appointed and luxurious. The view from the pool on the top floor was stunning. The hotel staff were fantastic.
Use the "go-card" on the local transport - trains or buses to visit the Koala sanctuary / gold coast / local botanical gardens and South bank parklands in the afternoons / evenings. The "city hopper" ferry and bus are a great idea to see the city in a quick look.
