FAQs about hotels in Darwin

Australia's Cyclonic Cocktail

Darwin displays a cocktail of cultures from ‘Aussie larrikins’ to the local Aboriginals from Larrakia Country. Throw in an influx of international visitors who now call the Top End of Australia home, and this concoction bedazzles with busy outdoor markets and an adequate supply of drinking holes (pubs).

The modern Darwin Wharf precinct, including Stokes Hill Wharf, still gleams on those endless summer days having been rebuilt after the destruction caused both during World War II bombings and Cyclone Tracey. Grab a bar stool with a view of the harbour or a seat on a terrace and sip a cool drink in Australia’s northernmost, tropical capital city.

A popular time for tourists is Darwin’s dry season that starts in May and ends in October. If you prefer it hot and humid, then the end of the wet season can be spectacular when the waterfalls in Kakadu and Litchfield national parks are at their mightiest.

Australia’s wild frontier can be reached all the way from Adelaide and Alice Springs along the picturesque Stuart Highway that ends at Daly Street in the CBD. Outside the centre are the natural surrounds in Palmerston, Humpty Doo and closer by is Mindil Beach with its famous Sunset Market.

Darwin International Airport has international flights from Singapore and Bali. You can choose from a variety of hotels, hostels and apartments on Booking.com.

Darwin was a relaxed place to visit.

Darwin was a relaxed place to visit. Plenty to see and do in Darwin and the surrounding area. Mindil Beach, Deckchair Theatre, museums, galleries, Litchfield National Park swimming holes (we have a new appreciation for pool noodles), Tiwi Island, botanical gardens and so much more. Will come again!!

We have visited Darwin on several occasions and all ways enjoyed our stays. Our last visit was approximately three years ago with family visiting sites in and around Darwin including a trip to Kakadu for 4 days. I must point out though Breakfast was included when we last stayed at the Casino.

It was an interesting place with beautiful sunsets and warm temperatures; the best parts are the trips to places like Litchfield Park. It has a good local bus service, frequent of trunk routes (like 4 and 8) but the others can vary from 1 to 1 and a 1/4 hours. Excellent restaurants and the museums are excellent as well.

We were very happy with the accommodation. Very comfortable, had everything we needed and was very clean. The hotel was ideally located in Darwin city; within walking distance of various tourist sites, food places/takeaway/ restaurants. We had a family room with 2 bedrooms, lounge area and a kitchen and laundry. Great facilities and beautiful view from the balcony out to the harbour and the park across the road. Swimming pool was great to have on site and use every day. It was also not overly expensive.

What a great location. This apartment just felt so comfortable to stay in. The Waterfront precinct in Darwin is not cheap to stay in so we found this apartment to be good value in the context. Lots of extras included for your stay which made it more homely. Thankyou for extra details put into this place. It shows that you actually get what travellers want. We loved it. Would highly rcommend this apartment to any of our friends or family.

Spacious and comfortable apartment. Host very accessible (we ran out of dishwashing liquid and quickly replaced). A family member decided to join us for a couple of days and while there wasn't a bed for them we were left extra sheets for the couch. Amazing view of Darwin Harbour and sunsets. It's in the Oaks Elan complex so restaurant on site and staff at desk helpful also. Given the price of accom in Darwin this was good value.
