Many families visiting Cairns loved staying at Pullman Reef Hotel Casino, Crystalbrook Riley, and Crystalbrook Flynn.
Used local buses and taxis to get around. Every driver was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. There were lots of great tours available. We went to Kuranda scenic railway and skyrail, city sights tour, Australian armour and artillery museum. Great pubs to eat in were Dunwoody's and Cock and Bull. Friendly locals who could not do enough to advise and help us.
We had 5 nights in Cains, and saw lots. I absolutely loved the Kuranda Tour (up with the Sky Rail, walk around Kuranda, Rain forestation with Army Duck Drive and Aboriginal Dance etc as well as lunch, coming back with the Scenic Railway). We then also did 2 Island Trips, one to Green Island the other to Fitzroy Island. Fitzroy Island was amazing for snorkelling, we saw lots of colourful fish, coral as well as green turtles. Green Island was not as good for snorkelling, possibly because of the low tide?? Definitely didn't see as much there. Walking around Green Island was very nice. I would like to do all the Fitzroy Island Hikes as well, unfortunately I had a sore foot but definitely next time :) I definitely highly recommend Cairns for any age group. Cairns itself is such a beautiful coastal town with yummy restaurants along the pier. Book tours early enough, since they get booked out very quickly!
We loved Cairns. It was very clean and tidy. Workers were out early every morning making sure everything was perfect. There is so much to do and see. Lots of restaurants and cafes. Everyone we tried was good.
id avoid cairns all together go some where else and spend your hard earned money i wish i didgo into the township for a walk and listen to cll out to each other from street to street and couples abusing each other constantlly push bike riders kicking over rubbish bins for fun give it a miss or stay in the high end of cairns. deffinatley not food takeaway is tasteless where we stayed the night markets on the esplanarde were only shops open late not worth the walk the lagoon was being worked on while we were there another dissapointment
Great place to base yourself in for excursion trips. The city centre and esplanade are a great place for food choices, the large pool, and general ambience of the town is good. The Esplanade has a variety of places you can eat at. We had no means of transport, but it's only a $30 cab trip in from the airport, and you can walk around pretty easily.
The weather was unbelievable 26 most days. Stunning tropical scenery, nice restaurants and shops. Lots to do in and around cairns, the tablelands Cooktown. We didn’t hire a car but you can get around by bus or walking
Cairns
Terrible - do not stay here with family ! It’s loud, beds are uncomfortable, sketchy people everywhere!!! Loud music till early hours of morning. Costs the same as a resort as a family room there. Save yourself money and pay less at cairns resort. They say it’s not a party place, don’t believe it. My children could not sleep. To be honest, I couldn’t. I thought the floor was okay (we checked in and let the kids on the floor, after playing for 3 mins their feet were black ! From the inside hotel room! ) ridiculous. I could have vomited
Cairns
A wonderful place for us to stay prior to our early flight home. When we stay in Cairns again in the future, I would actually choose to stay here again. The room was large, well appointed, clean and comfortable, and had everything we would have needed. We met the managers on our arrival, and they were so friendly and helpful. It was also very close to the Esplanade and waterfront, so close for easy walking in to town. We chose this especially due to its close proximity to the airport for an early flight home the following day.
We had a lovely fresh and clean room, with a wonderful ocean/marina view and a private balcony. We had breakfast at The Backyard hotel restaurant downstairs every morning and it was fantastic with a great selection of hot food items, fruits, toast/pastries and eggs cooked to your liking on request. The location couldn’t be better with fabulous restaurants downstairs facing the marina and a short 5min walk to the main action of the Esplanade. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend to friends and family.
The resort, although huge with what seemed like hundreds of guests was very quiet. The staff were quite friendly and did what they could to make the stay comfy. I enjoyed my stay here, and it will be my go to venue on my return to Cairns in the future. I didn't mind that it wasn't in the city. It felt like you were miles from anywhere (in a good way). The bed was big and comfy...felt like home! Close to airport and car hire too!
The hotel was located along the esplanade and its walking distance to restaurants, bars and the Cairn Night Market. Staff were friendly and they were an exceptional help when we needed suggestions on places to explore around Cairns and Port Douglas. Rooms were clean, spacious and we had a great view of the mountains.
Cairns
Excellent location, G level doors open on the Esplanade which is the most happening street in Cairns. All the apartments have a lovely sea view. Compact apartment with a nice balcony. Walter helped us with our check out and was helpful enough in booking a maxi cab for us on our departure.
Cairns
everything was so clean and the room was pretty mush standard between me and my partner we both have 1 year old child therefore we both love the Luxury of the location and the room we would like to take our family to stay there for holiday THANK YOU CAIRNS INN
Location was great and the pool was excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and this hotel was the only one in Cairns that was able to meet my request for room configurations (a triple room with three single beds).
This came at a better rate than similar properties in the same area of downtown Cairns, in the same block as those facing The Esplanade and close to everything. A nice pool area and good soundproofing in rooms.
Cairns
I chose the hotel mainly for the location of my Cairns/Atherton region tour, as I didn't want to go to CBD to stay. For the rate of around $95, the room is clean, with the essential facilities.
The family room is spacious and the hotel is located a short walk from Muddy’s playground and cafe. It’s also very close to the aquarium and esplanade. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Cairns
Bed was comfortable, the place itself looks like it only there was AC somewhere, but kind of hard considering the common areas are open areas. Good location, cheapest price in Cairns.
Location was perfect within easy walking distance of the city and Cairns esplanade. Room was really quiet and bed was comfortable room was overall very clean good amenities and gym
Susan, was outstanding with her approach in welcoming us to the apartment. The family loved the apartment and decided we choose Vale Vista Luxury on our next trip to Cairns
Cairns
