It’s nice small city having beautiful sea coast on one side n other side green hills. Have good one day sea n land excursions trips to Rain forest n reefs. 4 to 5 days would be adequate to spend in cairns and around.

Loved Cairns at this time of year - July. Lots to do and see. Only complaint is that the restaurant food was mediocre across all places I tried, especially fish and seafood. Fruit and vege market is fabulous. Great shopping centre. Cairns is worth a visit. The trip by train and cable car was a fabulous day out. Lunch at Ellis Beach was really good. We love Cairns and Port Douglas and have been going for 30 years. The lagoon pool is being renovated at the moment which may affect some travellers. Dining is excellent with many options, our new favourite is Waterbar and grill on the Marina Pier, great setting and wonderful food. Loved Cairns. There are so many places to see and so much to do...Port Douglas, Cape Tribulation, snorkelling on the reef, going to the Atherton Tablelands, the butterfly, bird and koala parks at Kunandra, the Skyrail, walking along the boardwalk, the aquarium is amazing. Loved Dundees restaurant.
