Enjoyed visiting the Daintree rainforest, artilery museum, and scuba diving at Franklin Island. Tried to take a tour of outer reef but was told winds very high with tail of cyclone and it was booked the day we wanted anyway. Weather was great due to coming after the rains which probably cooled down the temps a bit. Wide variety of things to do in Cairns. Would have liked to spend about 1-2 days longer and see the botanic gardens and Mossman Gorge. Liked the fireworks on Nee year’s Eve too🎆!
The reef far from land has living coral, it was colorful and worth to have a look. The train to the Kurander mountain was a littile disapointed, not recommend for those who already rided puffin billy in Melbourne. Sky diving and hummer riding is very excited!
Great place for those who enjoy the water, the sun, and beaches but I am not really that person. We enjoyed the Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyway trip above the rainforest. Pizza at a local (takeway) shop was a bit odd and certainly not up to the standards back home but maybe there was a better option in Cairns that we missed. There was probably a good bit more to see and do that we missed but we were happy to leave the humidity behind us.
Cairns was a lot smaller than I had thought it was going to be, but actually I enjoyed it a lot more that it wasn’t a big city! Even though it doesn’t have a beach the public lagoon was lovely and the town Centre was a perfect size. We went snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef which is a must when visiting Cairns and also did a couple of free days out, one at the botanic gardens which are beautiful and another day took the bus to Palm Cove, a lot closer than Mission Beach and so pretty!
Very nice. Loved the tablelands national parks, rainforest, waterfall exploration and swims. Barrier reef snorkeling was great but sad to see much of reef died off. However signs of regeneration and some colors returning
If you love nature and laid back/ sociable people, you'll love Cairns. It may get hot and humid, but freshwater and saltwater is close by. It has the most stunning swimming holes, rainforest hills, tropical islands and coconut palm fringed beaches. The night live is great, and I highly recommend visiting the Flecker Botanic Gardens in Edge Hill for viewing exotic plants. It's a feast for the eyes. Rusty's markets in Cairns city is good for the foodies who love tropical fruits. There is also a Indigenous arts festival I think in July of each year which is well worth a visit. The region is multicultural and comopolitian, you get a diverse array of cultures and different types of people. Visit in the dry season, it's not so humid then, and bring a pair if thongs, full bream hat, sarong and water bottle. You'll need them.

Everything, but mostly the staff & location. Valter at reception was genuinely accommodating and always good for a laugh everytime we came into reception. The location is perfectly central with amazing panoramic views of the esplanade if you book an ocean spa room. The room itself was imaculant, comfortable, spacious and romantic. This hotel had everything we wanted & needed during our five night stay. Next time we decide to defrost our Tasmanian bones in the warm cairns sun we know exactly where we will book!!

The staff were amazing! Everyone was incredibly helpful (and honest!) when it came to booking tours and things to do around Cairns. They were also always up for a chat and made you feel very welcome and like family. They had organized events some nights so you could go out and enjoy the nightlife, but the hostel itself was not a party hostel so you could easily sleep. I had a great time here and wish I had been able to stay longer!

Location is great - not right in the craziness of town but close enough to walk. Even if you don’t want to walk they provide a free shuttle bus to the city centre! Incredibly clean facilities, I think I saw them clean bathrooms twice a day as well as daily clean in the rooms. Staff was super helpful whenever I had questions about my stay or future travels!! I’ll be back for sure next time I’m in cairns :)

Very close to the Esplanade and in a well-lit tourist area. The siamese cat in the lobby was adorable and Glenda was so helpful in recommending activities and even helped me print a last-minute pass for an activity. She upgraded my room for free before I arrived and gave me a map of the city. The place is very clean and bright. When I’m back in Cairns this is going to be my go-to accommodation.

The front desk agent the night we checked in was very welcoming! We hadn't intended on staying in Cairns this night but we're flooded out from out intended location. We booked the room online and was at the hotel 10 minutes later, the agent was expecting us and made the an otherwise stressful night a lot better for us by being really welcoming!
