I have been coming to the Cairns Colonial Club Resort for 26 years and every time i am truly in paradise. i am reminded of truly rare flora and the pools omg I love the hidden spa in the cave. Unfortunately the wet bar is never open when i am there but nonetheless a truly magical place. My slice of heaven.
The fact that you could walk around the city centre, the wonderful marina area with a lot of amazing restaurants. Loved the fact that it was family orientated. The boat tours for the Reef, huge selection so something for everyone. We did the Dinner at night tour of the harbour which was gorgeous.
Cairns (pronounced, Cans), has everything to offer. Spectacular scenery Tropical rain forest habitat and wildlife Great Barrier Reef with innumerable excursions to meet every budget. Water sports Shopping Restaurants, bars and food halls.
Cairns is a lovely place for walking the esplanade and relaxing. It’s a quick trip from the airport. Lots of close by trips my cars to waterfalls. The esplanade is well looked after. Easy to get a Uber around town.
I travel to Cairns for work so access to the airport and exit to the west and south of Cairns is important. New roadworks to the south will be well received when completed. The accommodation I need for business trips is basic and there are plenty of options at good value. Food options are great and there are a range of choices to stay close to the restaurant strip. There are some attractive accommodation spots I am planning to return to for holidays.
We were lucky to get bright, sunny weather for most of our time in Cairns. Good bus services. Stunning to be able to snorkel right over the Great Barrier Reef and take the Skyrail cable car over the rainforest canopy to Kuranda. And our Discovery Tours trip with guide Steve to Daintree Rainforest, Mossman Gorge, etc was brilliant. We also liked the Lagoon in the city - a safe and easily accessible swimming area for all the community and tourists alike. Lovely “red arrow “ (that is, the easiest of the well-signposted walks) in the conservation area behind the Tanks/arts and botanical gardens Visitor Centre. There are four graded walks and the place doesn’t seem to be publicised - even the helpful Visitor Centre staff didn’t mention it. We only found it when looking for the small garden that they told us about. Places to eat were plentiful. Wara Sushi in Cairns Central shopping mall was a lovely surprise - good, fresh ingredients and at a good price. Other places were fine too. Coffee places not as good as Melbourne (not a surprise) but Goose in Sheridan Street do a lovely flat white and their plain croissant was better than most that I come across in Paris, France generally, London or Spain (all places where I’ve had the best croissants in my childhood and younger years).
The studio style room was a large modern hotel room/apartrmmet that was comfortable, clean and had a lovely view of the esplanade and water. The staff were attentive and ordered my taxi to the airport for me( day prior uber and taxi delays) so they assisted me. I had to check out at 10.00am and they safely stored my luggage for me and allowed me the luxury of a shower prior to my flight at 8pm that night. Location is approximatley 1.5 blocks away from the main restaurants along the esplanade - but it proves for a quiet stay.
Firstly loved entering the lobby area every single time due to the scent! Loved the spacious hotel room, high ceiling and balcony overlooking the gardens. I felt like we were the only ones in the hotel but it was obviously heavily booked. Our family loved the Backyard restaurant for dinner and were sad we couldn't get in a second night due to being fully booked.
Cairns
Loved the location - in front of the esplanade. A good walk down to the city centre but convenient for travelling out of Cairns. Spacious balconies, spacious apartments and great having two baths. Pool was lovely; heaps of parking. Laundry facilities and dishwasher which were useful.
The hotel is very nice. The restaurant and bar down stairs were perfect. No direct access to the esplanade was a but annoying but you get that when development is going on. I would recommend this hotel anyone visiting Cairns and I would happily stay here again.
Cairns
we rent a car in Cairns, although the hotel is a little bit far to the sea, while it is still with working distance since Cairns is not a bit city. The 2 bedroom apartment is spacious for a 2 adult+2 kids family. Can cook breakfast in the room.
Cairns
Location was great, just 2 doors down from the Cairns RSL club which had great meals. Apartment was a great size for our stay of 9 nights. Apartment was clean & if you needed anything replenished you just had to ask.
This came at a better rate than similar properties in the same area of downtown Cairns, in the same block as those facing The Esplanade and close to everything. A nice pool area and good soundproofing in rooms.
Cairns
Simple breakfast included in the hotel rate. Pretty central location, 15min walk to Esplanade, Night Market, Rusty's Weekend Market and the Cairns Central Shopping Mall.
Very large room with separate lounge and kitchen. Great views over Cairns City. The bed was very comfortable. Good included buffet breakfast.
Pacific Hotel Cairns was in a great location. A short stroll to the esplanade, to bus routes, shops and to the marina for reef trips.
Little older hotel, but staff were fantastic! Hotel in great location close to Esplanade and downtown Cairns. Good value for money 😊
The facilities were of an excellent standard, in keeping with a luxury hotel in this price bracket. Fresh, clean and friendly.
Mantra Esplanade was a beautiful hotel great location and very friendly and helpful staff. The suero ark was beautiful.
The hotel was very clean in a good location close to the city restaurants and esplanade
Nice apartment in lovely garden setting. Walking distance to Cairns centre.
Location is great, one of the cheapest places to stay in Cairns too.
