At this time of the year the weather was amazing, people were so friendly and helpful but in saying that weren't Aussies either. Is a walkable city so park on the outskirts and walk in is best thing to do. Lots of entertainment venues, cafes, restaurants, caters well for the international tourists, if you're looking for purely Aussie experience it is hard to find due the international target market
Lots of short drives and day of half day activities.
Will be planning a trip back soon

Kuranda Scenic Rail and Skyrail is brilliant and worth doing. We also hired a car and drove to Trinity Beach, Palm Cove and Port Douglas, easy drive and well worth visiting.
Other things to do: Moore Reef and Fitzroy Island day tour, we went with Sunlover Reef Cruises, well organised and great fun, the pontoon on Moore Reef was brilliant!
Another one we did was with Cairns Adventure Tours - Mossman gorge, Daintree and Cape Tribulation - Our tour guide, Matthew was awesome.
the property was great! Check in was quick and simple and the staff were friendly. We had a superior room and it was lovely, nice little view of the Cairns Esplanade and water. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We only stayed as an added overnight stay before our flight as our flights were changed and we are glad we booked with pacific hotel cairns for the quick stop over. We had our 4 month old baby and the staff were wonderful and had a portacot ready for us in our room.
Location was practically unmatched, amazing rooftop bar and the room was simple, but stylish and comfortable. The hotel was walking distance to pretty much anything worth seeing in Cairns City: the lagoon, Ferris Wheel, local restaurants, the esplanade, the aquarium, the art gallery, and much more.
Apartments were clean and very close to amenities and pools and spa to keep kids entertained.close to Cairns Central Plaza and carins statio .just 10 mins fro. Esplanade.would recommend it strongly
The location is with in short walking distance from the Cairns Railway Station. The hotel is just across the road from the Cairns Central Shopping Centre and a few blocks walk to The Esplanade.
Very very convenient in terms of location. Hotel right on the esplanade so easy access to the main drag of cairns. Very respectful staff and clean room with some nice views.
