Merino Cottage Meadowbank Lake is truly a hidden gem. Pip is a friendly and responsive host. Her warmth and thoughtfulness could be felt throughout the cottage. From the welcome goodies basket of port, biscuits, chocolates, delish breakfast items of bread, eggs, fresh milk, jam, avocados, coffee, tea to clean, warm (heater, hot water with good water pressure, comfy mattress/pillows/blankets) and cosy cottage. Though it’s winter, her home is filled with warmth. Missing our after dinner desserts over at the fireplace and morning walks along the lake and fields dotted with woolly sheeps...

It is a simple hotel in rural Tasmania with shared facilities. It was exactly what we were looking for on a trip from Devonport to Hobart a place to rest before the last part of the trip. The staff could not do enough, gave both of us a bottle of water and a packet of chips for my teenage son for nothing.

A cute heritage cottage on beautiful country grounds that included other heritage buildings (school house) and llamas! Wendy, the owner was immediately responsive to any queries and personally came to say "hello" and make sure everything was okay. This is a gem in a great area north of Hobart (1.5hrs away) and on the way to Cradle Mountain or other points of interest on west coast of Tasmania. Highly recommend.
