Toowoomba is very easy to drive around in. Planned in a straight forward grid pattern.... just means there are lots of intersections and traffic lights. The city has so many beautiful public gardens. Lovely old churches. Good shopping at Grand Central, and up along Margaret Street is an abundance of eateries and restaurants. We ate at "Sofras", a turkish restaurant, and it was delicious. Only small, so you need to book ahead.
A first time visit for 3 family members, and they were VERY impressed with the parks, shopping centers, restaurants, cafes and the cleanliness of the city. Getting to, and parking in the CBD was not an issue and getting around the city with the wide streets was easy to navigate. People were friendly and accommodating (with a 4 year old) wherever we visited. We had beautiful weather to enjoy long walks throughout the parks and stop for a cold drink or coffee. It would have been easy to stay entertained if there was a rainy day !!
I stayed just up the road from beautiful Queens Park - a great place to read a book or enjoy a picnic. Lots of interesting places to eat & the food/service was excellent. Took a nice walk through East Toowoomba, Mt Lofty out to the escarpment. Lovely tree lined streets, fantastic parks and all so green - recommend the twilight horse racing !
Very pleasant city - not too big, lots of trees and parks. Architecture was an interesting mix of old and new. The people were friendly and helpful. Lots of choice with places to eat Encore's was high exceptional. Shopping looked good too
Our trip was because of medical reasons. Our overnight stay at your motel was perfect..very comfortable and budget friendly. Close to shops and places to eat. Cob and Co museum nearby well worth a visit. Will stay with you again in the future. My only problem was leaving my USB charger in the room. So I am going to ring the office for you to possibly keep it until it can be collected.
Toowoomba is know for its carnival of flowers and its probably the best time to visit it. September each year Toowoomba comes alive, the parks are sensational and the private homes work all year for this 10 day event. This year 2022 because of covid they made the carnival for all of September. 30 days. However they did not explain that the private gardens were still only available to visit during the original 10 days. So we missed out on all the private home's gardens. Disappointing. It is very difficult to find a car park at each commercial park and at times impossible. Queens park twilight was fantastic as this was the first time I've seen it completely under lights. The food was great at all the places we visited however very expensive but very good. I will still go back again but this time during the private home shows in the 10 days allotted as the private gardens are the cream of the carnival as you get to chat with the owners.
Toowoomba
Great motel. It is important to remember this is a motel and not a five star hotel. Really clean, comfy beds and no rocks that are disguised as pillows in sight. Mugs provided for tea/coffee and it was so good to find a toaster, microwave, crockery and cutlery. I would thoroughly recommend it and would definitely stay again if I find myself in Toowoomba.
