Excellent location and they provide free bikes and kayaks/paddle boards! We made use of both and saw much more of Placencia because of it. Everything was clean, AC worked well, it was great having a small kitchen. Location was great and we walked everywhere we needed to go with ease!

We had such a fantastic stay at Beachside Villas. The gardens and pool area are simply stunning and are right next to the beach. The apartment was perfect for our family and we were able to cook for ourselves every night. It was spacious, clean and very well equipped. I was genuinely very sad to leave and would recommend to anyone.

What Guests Said About Placencia:

    The village is very small.

The village is very small. It advertises white, sandy beaches, but does not mention the seaweed that is all along the coastline. I feel it is important for travelers to know that the magic is in the excursions to the little islands like Laughing Bird Caye. There are many good restaurants, but food variety is limited due to the remote location. There is an ice cream shop that is exceptional! It is fun and relaxing to stay in Placencia.

Placencia is a relatively small village but bustling with activities. Easy to travel via bike, walking, bus, taxi or water taxi if you don’t have a car. There is a nice swim beach on the leeward side. The windward side ,as expected is breezy, but collects sea weed and any trash the wind catches. Plenty to do with tours to Monkey River &The Spice Farm; as well as snorkeling, scuba and fishing trips. Hot and humid but beautiful. The local food is wonderful. We only ate at two formal-restaurants - Omars and The Shack; mostly preferred to frequent the local roadside food stands.

It's a nice quiet area, with many small shops and restaurants. The beaches are great, the coral reef is unique, and available activities and tours are outstanding. It's very safe, and the local people are quite friendly. It's a small village that is not a glamorous place, but more of a place to rest and enjoy the sea and nature.

There was much less traffic than we expected.

There was much less traffic than we expected. The lagoon is amazing. I would choose to stay in placencia over San Pedro any day. Take a kayak on the lagoon and stop at The Other Side for a drink while sitting in their pool! Took a Daytripper catamaran snorkeling trip that was one of the best snorkel trips on our whole trip. Rum punch, anyone? Eat at Cozy Corner for beach dining and listen to the waves. Secret Garden has delish fish and ceviche. Placencia was one of our favorite places in our month in Belize!

We enjoyed our stay and will be back.

We enjoyed our stay and will be back. The location was perfect to get away from the downtown area, but there was a shuttle to downtown if you wanted to enjoy some of the town of Placencia. I only wish they had a few golf carts available for rental instead of having to book with a private company. Heading north to see more of the peninsula is very easy and the roads are nicely paved. You are very close to the airport and also the Sailboat Charter bases. It is a great place to stay prior to leaving on a sailboat charter since it is right across the street from the marinas. It is a lovely property with great service and accommodations. And, the food we had was prepared nicely and tasted great. The free breakfast was also tasty and filling.

This resort is thankfully not in Placencia Village which is densely settled, with many small houses/hotels a few feet from each other. The accompanying noise and dust was not welcome, but you have to go thru there to get on a boat to get to the beautiful cayes.

Odasa is a gem. She met us on check-in and helped us to pick up something we forgot after checkout. A lovely person. The cabana room was comfortable and larger than other similar rooms of the same price in Hopkins and Placencia. There was AC and a fan so the room was comfy during the heatwave, and after going to many of these types of accommodations in Belize this may be the only cabana hotel I may book again. Given the average hotel room standard and cost of hotels/stays in Belize, this is very good value for money.

beautiful spot on the beach and so very private and quiet. we absolutely loved it. our cabana was so perfect and the service was excellent. we absolutely love that we did not have to check out any of the toys that we wanted to use and could just take them at our leisure. We also like the fact it was adults only so it was the most serene and quiet vacation we could’ve hoped for. we could walk anywhere in town and feel safe and protected and the local Belizeans were so nice during our entire state. It is an absolute jewel.

Located on the Broadwalk close to Placencia Beach the hotel is easy to find. It is also easy to get around Plecencia on foot and there are plenty 0f bars and eateries within a couple of minutes walk. The beach is also a couple of minutes walk away. The rooms were really big with king size beds which were really comfortable. The rooms included a fridge, coffee machine and aricon as well as a tv. Rooms were very clean and cleaned daily. Top floor deck area is a useful area for drying clothes.

Property is beautiful. Beach is stunning and pool area is wonderful the whole set up of common areas is very aesthetically pleasing and makes you want to stay in the hotel to relax and enjoy the view. Pizzas were top notch and the Luna cocktail is very special. A lot of staff were really kind and helpful. Free yoga classes very generous and a wonderful experience. Movie on the beach under moonlight was a lovely setting and also great to have for free.

Barbara and Evan were great hosts. Their hotel was amazing and right on the beach right next to the main sidewalk. Breakfast on the roof every day was never a disappointment as you can see in my pics. I cannot say enough good things about Barbara. She was always available for any question we had whether it was about a place to eat or where we could get some bubble wrap. She is very good with people including our small children. She was awesome!

The people who stay at the hostel are all super cool. The host, Pandora, is super knowledgable and helpful. I loved cooking and hanging out with hostelers, especially locals. The bed was super comfy. I loved all the hammocks and the availability of kayaks. The dogs were cute and friendly too. Also, sunrise is right on the beach!

This hotel is located close to the end of the village, but because the sidewalk is close by and the village is small, the walk to the center of town if less than a mile. Delia who is the local manager is wonderful and friendly. And during this visit, Michel, the owner, who is often in Belgium, was present.

We were looking for a Belizean experience and the Hotel was located in the center of the local hotels and housing. Our location was more family than touristy. We hate resorts and Alans is a simple quiet small client hotel with a personal touch. Air conditioning was good. Location and locals friendly.

We loved the location. Right on the beach, and it backed on the side walk so you are literally right on the top restaurants and stores to shop. The two young girls that checked us in Karen and Melisa were great and we understood any downfalls were owner related not manager related.

Great location. In the middle of the sidewalk area, steps from a beach, and near the pier, so basically where you want to be, near the restaurants and the tour companies. The hotel is not fancy, but it perfect for a beach vacation.
