Granville Ferry (Near Annapolis Royal)
Grand Oak Manor Bed and Breakfast has sea views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Granville Ferry. We stayed here for 2 nights while doing a tour of Nova Scotia, from here your only a few minutes from Annapolis Royal and Port Royal which have some very interesting historical sites. You are only about 1 hour away from East Ferry and the whale watching tours (check out Petit Passage Whale Watch). Art and Martha are very welcoming, and their home is very cosy and has a lot of history to it, check out the horseshoe mark on the dining room floor. We arrived late afternoon and Art helped arrange dinner at a local restaurant 'The Crows Nest Hillsburn' which is where we had the best chowder of our trip. Breakfast is cooked fresh by Martha and includes cake, tea and coffee are on tap 24/7 from the dining room. We had a room at the front of the house which had an air con (but we didn't need it) and a view overlooking the water. The room was clean, tidy, and very homely. The bathroom is separate from the bedroom but still private and not available to other guests (you can only do so much with a 300-year-old house). We would recommend it to others and would stay again if we are back in the area.

Bridgetown (Near Annapolis Royal)
Located in Bridgetown, CARLETON INN & COTTAGES features a garden. The inn provides both free WiFi and free private parking. Selected rooms contain a kitchen with a fridge, an oven and a microwave. Firstly, I did not ask for a quiet room. I expected one of course, and was not disappointed. I have stayed there before and I knew the place was well kept and clean; however there have been expansions and they are a great improvement. I was glad to see that the establishment is still growing. We stayed two nights, and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that our room was cleaned and tidied after our first night. The staff is exceptional. They offer some great packages. Worthwhile to check it out.
It was a beautifully appointed Inn. Kevin and Lesley were warm and welcoming and excellent cooks. The breakfasts were yummy! They were very informed about the historic significance of the area and offered many suggestions on where to visit and dine. We had a wonderful time visiting with them. Dan and Karen Shea
If you have been to Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario, I can tell you this town reminded me of that town very much. Very old, charmingly beautiful and well-preserved. A gem, with walking trails and a charming downtown. We tried to find a gluten-free restaurant for dinner, but being Sunday, our choices went down to zero. We drove a half hour to Digby to dine at the Fundy Restaurant which we knew to have an extensive gluten-free menu, and a great view of the harbour. If you are looking for a restaurant in Annapolis Royal, be sure to make reservations in advance. The historic, old hotels are also highly in demand, so you need to make reservations well in advance.
A small, lovely historic town full of gorgeous, old homes. Founded in 1604, it is the first permanent European settlement in North America north of St. Augustine, Florida. It's located on the Annapolis River, which flows in from the Bay of Fundy, so it has some impressive tides. For its size, there are quite a few attractions, including historic gardens and Fort Anne, a 17th-century fortress.
Lovely walks and historical buildings. Steeped in history. Sea front accessability great. Great bakery and several good eateries to choose from. Very walkable. More options are available and sites open starting in June.
Annapolis Royal is a real historic place. We do recommend both the Fort Anne and the Habitation on Port Royal (not far by car). They are very different: one was a military place, the other a living one. And all around you have some waterview, which is really enjoyable! Also, the gardens were nice but maybe nicer during Spring/Summer!
All the attractions are located on George Street. The street is one way with parking on both sides. From the Royal market to the Royal Garden, you will have 800 feet of shops, restaurants, art galleries and other attractions. There is a small boardwalk with incredible views of the river and the bay. We enjoyed the guided tour "Acadia's cradle" at fort Anne. It was a 4$ well spent. The market with live music was also super nice, buy your lunch there and enjoy it sitting on one of the many benches along the waterfront. We did run out of time during our visit of the Royal Garden.... 1 1/2hour allowed us to see a third of the garden. Also note that by 5o'clock everything save a few restaurants is closed. Some restaurants are open until 8:00. And the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend marks the end of the tourists season. Not much remains open after that.
Annapolis Royal
I felt like I was staying in a grand house, very well kept and homey. Room was large and bed was very comfortable. Lovely Victorian tub for an amazing soak. The Inn Keeper, Marie, was fantastic, welcoming, relaxed and made a delicious breakfast. She even offered to drive me back and forth to dinner each night. I would definitely return.
