Grew up in Nova Scotia and Halifax was always a fun place to visit at any age. History galore and fun for the whole family. A million places to eat and Brewpubs for everyone. The waterfront is awesome and even Theodore Tugboat is there for the kids.
Sydney is a very small town, not much to see. We used it as a base to see Louisbourg, and Cape Breton. Since Cape Breton is so large we had to drive for hours to get to/from the places we wanted to see. Although this was a very nice hotel, I would recommend breaking up your stay to the east versus west side of Cape Breton to reduce the long drives. The staff at our hotel were very nice and friendly as was everyone we met in the region. Nova Scotia is a beautiful and very safe place.
Gate way to fabulous museums, etc. Alexander Graham Bell Museum nearby in Badeck, as is Fortress Louisburg. Spent 3hours. It surpasses Williamsburg as a historical attraction. Nova Scotia is fabulous place to visit.
Beautiful town and friendly people. Fortress Louisbourg was very interesting. All of the "inhabitants" were knowledgeable and eager to share that knowledge. Make it a point to stay at Cranberry Cove. This was a wonderful B&B with an amazing innkeeper. This inn was the best we visited in all of Nova Scotia.
We toured the Citadel and Boardwalk, which made for a very relaxing and enjoyable day. We also visited Peggy’s Cove and Mahone Bay. Both places are spectacular and are truly worth a visit. I love Nova Scotia!
One of many small villages/towns that make up this part of Nova Scotia. People are friendly & helpful. Lots of good seafood in this area of Nova Scotia
Great location to see many historic sites in the area. Had our best meal in Nova Scotia at the restaurant within walking distance of the Heritage House , the Black Spoon. The Fortress was great.
Went to Yarmouth, as Cat Ferry came in there. We drove around Nova Scotia, saw many things! Favorite place was Peggys Cove lighthouse area! Really liked seeing the minus tide. People are very friendly!
Absolutely beautiful! Watch the slippery rocks. Great for photography but super crowded with tourist and big tourist buses. Difficult to find nice hotels/ bed and breakfasts in this area of Nova Scotia.
Port Royal is worth paying to get in and see the barracks. The kitchens and blacksmith shop, everything is as it would have been. You can touch stuff too, although with care. Fort Anne was pretty to see, the museum was heady. Everything is pretty spread out in Nova Scotia so expect to drive. All in all Annapolis Royal was a nice town to stay in. We were able to see a few forts go whale watching and see a national park so it worked for us.
We stayed here just as Hurricane Fiona hit Nova Scotia so we had driven from Cape Breton. The staff were incredible given the upheaval as a result of the wind & rain. They provided a breakfast the morning after the storm ( despite power being out) , and then later in the day sandwiches & soup when everything was closed . The staff at the Prince Hotel were cheerful and made the effort to come in and help despite many having their own homes without power. I could not recommend this hotel highly enough given our experience.
Great location in a lovely part of Nova Scotia. The hotel is a bit rustic, but very comfortable with a beautiful view. Great base for seeing the island and an easy walk into town. The restaurant was closed, but fortunately, we were prepared with food and the fridge and coffee maker in the room were invaluable. (The hotel had contacted us about the restaurant closure, but I hadn't read the email!)
Super comfortable bed, soft but not too soft, slept like a baby. The view of the ocean is beautiful! Sat in the window and watched the waves, very relaxing. Very clean, large room. Vince was helpful in trying to give me ideas on what to do as all of the trails were closed because of the fires in Nova Scotia. Really enjoyed the openness of the room.
The overall atmosphere of this property is very special - the food was very good, the building itself is beautiful, although the rooms and bathrooms (it was originally a railway hotel) are small. The area is very picturesque, in Nova Scotia's Annapolis Basin on the Bay of Funds.
Port Hood
The landlady is awesome. She helped with reservations and had great tips what to do. She even called our next hotel to confirm our reservation. A NICE AND WELL KEPT GEM UNDER THE B&B's The breakfast was the best we had in the last couple of days here in Nova Scotia.
The staff was excellent. We only stayed one night and had dinner in the on-site hotel restaurant, we sat at the bar and Ahmad the bartender was friendly and engaging and very talented with his creation of drinks it was a wonderful start to our vacation in Nova Scotia.
Yarmouth
I stayed for three nights and must say my stay was excellent. Everyone at the hotel go out of their way to ensure you are comfortable. Just beyond. Very helpful in recommending places to eat and to visit. I recommend LakeLawn a must stay on visiting Nova Scotia.
less costly than other hotels in the area. the breakfast area was comfortable and pleasantly decorated with a Nova Scotia feel. basic breakfast and presentation was well thought out. perhaps having instant oatmeal packets would be nice.
The hotel is very convenient to the CAT Ferry. The rooms are comfortable and I could even see the water from my side-facing room. Would have liked to have had breakfast there in the morning, but it was a bad day... in all of Nova Scotia.
Baddeck
The room was spacious, clean, and nicely decorated. The bathroom was large. The garden on the grounds was beautiful. The hotel is close to town. We stayed at five different places in Nova Scotia and this was our favorite.
It was conveniently located next to the highway so if you’re heading out and just need a quick stop before exploring Nova Scotia, it serves its purpose. The staff were friendly and helpful.
good location. Great customer service. Staff were very welcoming, extremely helpful . We spent a week touring Nova Scotia staying in 5 different hotels, this was by far the best.
Larrys River
Restaurant was the best we have had in Nova Scotia. For the breakfast we would wish us Müsli or fruits, but we know, we are in Canada and not in Europe.
Property was ok. The staff did their best under difficult conditions as the storm in Nova Scotia flooded their hotel. Not their fault of course
The hotel was very clean, I stay in 4 Hotels in Nova Scotia and this was the most clean hotel, the bed super comfy. The sfaff are very nice.
The Westin Nova Scotian was in a great location. The room was spacious and the hotel was well maintained.
Very conveniently located, minutes from Nova Scotia/Newfou ferry terminal. Friendly staff.
Great food/restaurant, swimming pool, very nice location by the river.
Friendly staff. Chalet clean and comfy. Beautiful view. Highly recommend!
