The breakfast is ok: I'd give it 6/10. The bread choices are white or wheat - so personally speaking, the breakfasts have only what is essential. The muffins are stale - every single morning, I eat a hard muffin that has the consistency of having been left on in the open about 10 days - the muffins are tasty but have strangely hard crust throughout. I mean - try one, they are hard throughout and it is always that way with your muffins. I have never experienced breakfast at another Best Western like that. Muffins generally have a soft texture like bread. What is most important in a hotel to clients? 1) A comfortable bed, and 2) breakfast and 3) food for later. As a role model for your establishment, the Glengarry in Truro is the best planned Best Western that I have come across, in terms of breakfast. Their breakfast is a 10/10 - there is nothing further they could do - it would please all of their guests. The difference between Chocolate Lake and the Glengarry is that there, they care more about their guest experiences: There is multi-grain bread for people like me who have wheat allergies. There is a little dish filled with chocolate chips and nuts for the yogurt - which is not expensive and makes the experience of breakfast different from home. Glengarry goes way outside - and has someone with a station - and an employee with a small frying pan and a burner and he makes fresh omelettes! Amazing! He has little containers with onions, green pepper, mixed veg, cheese, bacon and he mixes it all up and viola - a perfect omelette. That's why their facility is a 10/10 and Chocolate Lake overall is in my view a 7/10. The breakfast is just ok, so I don't eat in the restaurant because you charge the prices of a 9/10 hotel but I am expecting the same type of food quality as the breakfast choices, so I don't do the restaurant.

I mainly stuck to downtown but I'd say Halifax is a great spot to visit. The city's downtown area is SUPER easy for newcomers to figure out and navigate, I had pretty much the entire 20-minute stretch surrounding the hostel I was staying at memorized after like a half hour of walking around, to the point I didn't even need to dig out Google Maps when I walked down to the Scotiabank Centre for the The Used concert. For food, I didn't go to any restaurants. I just stocked up on pre-made meals from the Superstore on Barrington St and snacks from the Park Lane Mall Dollarama, so I don't have any recommendations for food spots, unfortunately. But there were a lot of spots that I saw that looked very interesting that I want to try next time I'm in Halifax. My favourite places in Halifax were this little retro video game and trading card shop downtown called The Deck Box, and obviously the venue where I finally got to see my favourite band of all time, The Used, perform live, the Scotiabank Centre.

We are only an hour from Halifax but enjoy our stays in the city. Halifax has so much to offer. Terrific restaurants, beautiful waterfront and lots of entertainment and cultural experiences. We often come to take in concerts, plays at Neptune theatre or one of the awesome Candlelight Concerts.

Halifax drivers are the worst.

Halifax drivers are the worst. I am more comfortable driving in Toronto or Montreal than this east coast town. Hotel prices are atrocious. The airport is a long way out of town. The only way to do this place is on a cruise ship. The attitude here seems to be - this is the last place you can go because the Atlantic Ocean is your only other option!

We loved the fact that Halifax was central for touring in our rental car. We especially loved Peggy‘s Cove and Lunenburg. In the city itself, we enjoyed the citadel, the Maritime Museum and the wharf area.

So much to see and do in downtown Halifax.

So much to see and do in downtown Halifax. The mixture of restored historical buildings alongside modern new ones is well done. Lots of good food at moderate prices ruined with 25% more in taxes. Be aware that the airport is rather distant from the city.

The harbour is great and there are some interesting eighbourhoods. I was disappointed at the lack of day tours—I did get to sunset at Peggy’s Cove, but no walking tour, harbour tour, wine tour or Mahone Bay/ Lunenburg tour was available. Clearly Halifax is more interested in cruise ship traffic. Maritimes Bus service was very efficient.

Suite was exceptionally clean and fresh, king bed was very comfortable even for my husband who has a bad back and bed linens were so nice - crisp and cool just the way I like them. Plus the hosts were amazing! We needed to check in a little early to make our dinner reservations in downtown Halifax. They bent over backwards so we could check in a little early and freshen up before heading to the restaurant. It was a great experience.

Wonderful location walkable to downtown Halifax. The breakfast was hearty, fresh and well managed by the staff given the large number of people eating breakfast. Although under construction, the elevators were speedy. Appreciated the washer/dryer facilities for guests. The housekeeping staff was helpful - appreciated the options for services during our stay.

We had a wonderful stay. The hotel was very comfortable and the staff efficent and kind. Our main reason for visiting Halifax was to spend time on the waterfront and the 4 Point Sheraton was the perfect location. You can easily return to drop of purchases or take a break, put up your feet and enjoy the air conditioning.
