Went to Punta Arenas to see the Penguins! Great day trips to see the Magellan penguins and the King penguins. Also took a day trip to Torres del Paine. Cute small city on the ocean. Can be windy and cold! Not a lot to do in the city itself but a good place to stay for doing day trips. Felt very safe. Visitor centre in the main square was helpful!
Its a perfect base if you would like to explore the region especially if you want to go to tierra del fuego, torres del paine, and surrounding islas. The city itself have some interesting spots like the cemetery, costanera, and tres puentes
This is a great gateway town to get eventually to Torres del Paine. We used this town to stock up on goods before heading to Puerto Natales, where everything is more expensive. But we were also pleasantly surprised with the amount of stuff to do for a day and the friendly people.
The town is good for walking around, checking out the sea front and visiting some museums. Its a good launch pad for seeing the penguins and then traveling north towards the rest of Patagonia. Would highly recommend the Punta Arenas ship museum. Its good to have a car to see the broader area and take some hikes further south, but manageable to walk around town and get taxis as needed if you don't want to venture too far.
Amazing nature/tours a clean city with special see the view! Everybody should travel at least once. The city takes two days to visit but one should take tours to see Torres del Paine and Pinguins!
Nice vibe to Punta Arenas. Felt more 'authentic' than some of the other tourist towns we visited in Patagonia; but still had the niceties like good cafes, restaurants and bakeries. Nice options for day trips to the Penguins or down to Faro San Isidro
Everything! The hostal is cosy, beautifully designed, clean, shower is perfect, room well decorated, big bed, great sheets and pilows, great breakfast. It is like a hotel and a hostel had a beautiful baby. Comfort of a hotel with the living room of a good hostel. Pablo went above and beyond to accommodate all our needs. We left at 6 am and still we had breakfast ready and everything was at our disposal. Best place to sleep in Punta Arenas.
Very nice hotel and rooms, perfectly located in the city, with some rooms having sea view. Very welcoming and smiling staff. Lots of quality and choice for the breakfast, which is not so easy to find in Chile when you like both English+continental breakfast.

This hotel is well located, only a few blocks from the center of town. The room was spacious and hotel was quiet. Just an FYI, the front desk staff does not speak English, so if you don't know Spanish I would recommend staying somewhere else.
