Went to Punta Arenas to see the Penguins! Great day trips to see the Magellan penguins and the King penguins. Also took a day trip to Torres del Paine. Cute small city on the ocean. Can be windy and cold! Not a lot to do in the city itself but a good place to stay for doing day trips. Felt very safe. Visitor centre in the main square was helpful!
Its a perfect base if you would like to explore the region especially if you want to go to tierra del fuego, torres del paine, and surrounding islas. The city itself have some interesting spots like the cemetery, costanera, and tres puentes
This is a great gateway town to get eventually to Torres del Paine. We used this town to stock up on goods before heading to Puerto Natales, where everything is more expensive. But we were also pleasantly surprised with the amount of stuff to do for a day and the friendly people.
The town is good for walking around, checking out the sea front and visiting some museums. Its a good launch pad for seeing the penguins and then traveling north towards the rest of Patagonia. Would highly recommend the Punta Arenas ship museum. Its good to have a car to see the broader area and take some hikes further south, but manageable to walk around town and get taxis as needed if you don't want to venture too far.
Amazing nature/tours a clean city with special see the view! Everybody should travel at least once. The city takes two days to visit but one should take tours to see Torres del Paine and Pinguins!
Nice vibe to Punta Arenas. Felt more 'authentic' than some of the other tourist towns we visited in Patagonia; but still had the niceties like good cafes, restaurants and bakeries. Nice options for day trips to the Penguins or down to Faro San Isidro
Punta Arenas
Everything about this hostal exceeded my expectations, especially for the price! The location was great. Just a 20-minute walk from the bus terminal. Breakfast included bread, eggs, cheese, ham, coffee, tea. I always left feeling full and satisfied. Also, my private room included a private bathroom. It was spacious, clean, and attractive! I slept comfortably every night. Wifi was reliable, and the staff was incredibly attentive. I'm visiting from the U.S., and I've been in Chile for a month now. This hostal has been the greatest!
Overall a very nice and stylish hotel located in the heart of Punta Arenas. The rooms are clean and well maintained as the property is an impressive piece of architecture dating back to 1895. Location is perfect with easy access and walking distance to the mostly every area of the city including the waterfront to see the Estrecho de Magallanes. The staff were very courteous and attentive. Good breakfast with a fair selection of food. Our suite was decorated with style and was very comfortable.
The people at the front desk were super helpful. They even gave us a 15% discount because of a shorter stay due to flight issues with the current situation in Chile. The food at the restaurant is superb and the bed very comfortable and clean. (I would recommend that they get a new supplier for their bathroom accessories. The plastic body lotion container cracked and burst all over the counter and floor, when I squeezed it.) Wish we could’ve stayed longer!
The mail main feature of this hotel was swimming pool. It helps us to relax after some flight and the walking day. The room was big. There are some facilities that u need. Through hotel proposes free transfer from and to airport. The hotel corresponds the category of traveling and business people.
The hotel was located centrally. The hotel staff was helpful and friendly: The front desk staff happily accommodated my request for a different room. The restaurant was comfortable with good service. Breakfast was great--there was a wide variety of hot and cold food choices.

Hostal Boutique Patagonia is a sweet little hotel - clean and friendly, and walking distance from where you want to be. The rooms are clean, and the shower has enough pressure. The staff is helpful (loaned me a kettle and a hairdryer, as they have none in the room).

This hotel is well located, only a few blocks from the center of town. The room was spacious and hotel was quiet. Just an FYI, the front desk staff does not speak English, so if you don't know Spanish I would recommend staying somewhere else.
