Comfortable accommodations with free Wi-Fi is offered at Rey Don Felipe. It is located in Punta Arenas, the world´s most southern city, and 2 blocks from the main square. Very comfortable. And extremely accomodating for early morning excursion departures; they offer breakfast to go that was a ridiculous amount of food (know that one breakfast to go can serve two hungry adults!), and it was ready for us at 5am. The welcome drink is a nice touch, as well! Room was clean, quite large and very comfortable.

Located 656 feet from Pachecho bus station and 4 blocks from the main square, Hostal Ventisqueros offers accommodations with free WiFi and free parking in Punta Arenas. I really can't speak highly enough of Hostal Ventisqueros. The staff were incredible and very accommodating. We missed our flight from Santiago to Punta Arenas and ended up arriving much later (2:30 AM). The property arranged for a pick up at the airport for us and checked us in around 3:00 AM. The breakfast was amazing and was prepared in advance of a really early tour we had. They even held our luggage for us and allowed us to hangout in the common area until our bus departure later in the afternoon. Also, showers were amazing in our rooms.

Went to Punta Arenas to see the Penguins! Great day trips to see the Magellan penguins and the King penguins. Also took a day trip to Torres del Paine. Cute small city on the ocean. Can be windy and cold! Not a lot to do in the city itself but a good place to stay for doing day trips. Felt very safe. Visitor centre in the main square was helpful!
Punta Arenas works well as an entry point to the region. The airport is efficient and there are many taxi/shuttle operators providing a helpful transit service to your hotel or another town. After walking through Punta Arenas I was satisfied that I was spending only a night before leaving for Puerto Natales.
This is a great gateway town to get eventually to Torres del Paine. We used this town to stock up on goods before heading to Puerto Natales, where everything is more expensive. But we were also pleasantly surprised with the amount of stuff to do for a day and the friendly people.
The town is good for walking around, checking out the sea front and visiting some museums. Its a good launch pad for seeing the penguins and then traveling north towards the rest of Patagonia. Would highly recommend the Punta Arenas ship museum. Its good to have a car to see the broader area and take some hikes further south, but manageable to walk around town and get taxis as needed if you don't want to venture too far.
Amazing nature/tours a clean city with special see the view! Everybody should travel at least once. The city takes two days to visit but one should take tours to see Torres del Paine and Pinguins!
Nice vibe to Punta Arenas. Felt more 'authentic' than some of the other tourist towns we visited in Patagonia; but still had the niceties like good cafes, restaurants and bakeries. Nice options for day trips to the Penguins or down to Faro San Isidro
