This hotel is located near to the ancient town within 3 minutes walking distance . The lobby is decorated with beautiful plants n Chinese cultural style . Feel peaceful when you step in to the hotel. The owner of the hotel is very friendly and helpful . Arrange pick up n drop off transport service too. The hotel doesn’t provide breakfast for their guest ( As there are many breakfast variety nearby the hotel ). When she knew we are vegetarian , she offers to cook vegetarian breakfast just for us , we feel so grateful for her kindness . Value for money with the good location and nice ambiance of the hotel and with clean n comfortable room.

I booked a bed in a 4-female dorm in July 2025. When checking in, they even upgraded my room to a double room shared with another female guest (of course they asked if I want that) and the room was amazing. It was very clean, beds were comfy and it even came with towels, Shampoo, shower gel,... Regarding the staff, they are able to speak chinese and English as far as I experienced and the are super friendly. Totally recommend staying there. The hostel has a beautiful and nice common area to play games, even play station or Computer games, but also has a nice terrasse to chill on. The location itself is also fantastic. It's a short strall away to the old ancient town which is beautiful to discover.

We loved our room as the lake view was right in front of us. Although the room size was not big but it was well-equipped. The location was excellent as it was by the side of the lake. We could enjoy the sun rise view in the morning. We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel. Food was delicious and elegant. It had bike rental nearby to tour around the lake. Scenery was beautiful and relaxing.

I liked the variety of things to do in Dali (sightseeing and...
I liked the variety of things to do in Dali (sightseeing and shopping) and its strategic location to Erhai Lake. The variety of foods also was great. Also, I liked the overall weather (when it was not raining). It was real easy to get around as well. I just enjoyed going around the city and taking in all the sights.

Dali is a working city with lots of natural beauty all around. The lake Erhai and mountains were easily accessible and well worth visiting. The Three Pagodas complex is another place to visit and experience. Food options are extensive in Dali, from vegan to yak hot pot!

Dali is so touristy, loud, tacky and packed. Utterly horrible. We walked for 30 minutes at night to find somewhere to eat and then gave up and went to bed with no dinner. It was beautiful in the morning when we left. The restaurants and shops were shut and it was peaceful with fabulous view of the mountains. The shops are touristy and sell the usual stuff.

Stayed in Dali Ancient Town at the Hidden Hotel. Excellent spot in a very lively and authentic Ancient Town that comes alive every night. Plenty of choices for food, drink and entertainment. Never a dull moment, but it is China and everyone was well behaved ! High Speed Train to Kunming and Lijiang is fast and first class. Great time was had and the Three Pagodas were pretty cool. As usual in China, taxis were cheap and plentiful.

Dali Ancient City is a big city, can take 45 minutes to walk across. It is also extremely busy and very noisy (August). Traffic is horrendous, On arrival the taxi could have got withing 5 minutes walk of our hotel, but stationary traffic meant we opted to walk 40 minutes. Pedestrianised streets still have electric scooters charging through the crowds. There are many nearby attractions, but information for planning trips is scarce, and in any case you have to wait ages for a taxi then sit in traffic. If you want a relaxing Ancient City experience, go to nearby Weishan!

There are so many experience waitng for explore in Dali. But the traffic management is so poor inside and outside the old town. Inside the old town, the tourists have to walk away from the electric motorbike and the tricycle all time. Moreover some private car can enter the old town easily. Outside the old town there was an accident by two car crashing but it can make more than a kilo traffic jam. But I haven't seen any policeman. So if you want to explore Dali please carefully concern the transportation.
