Sheraton is remarkable, but this stay was truly extraordinary thanks to Jack, who upgraded our room for a breathtaking experience with my husband. It was a delightful surprise, and his attention to detail was evident when he provided us with a fruit platter. Jack took the time to address the issues I had with my Bon Voy card, showcasing his dedication and care. He embodies the essence of exceptional service at Sheraton in Guangzhou and throughout China. I was surprised to find the hotel located in an oasis right at the heart of Guangzhou. The green, nature friendly vibe was definitely a plus plus, and the views are spectacular - you could see the Canton Tower very vividly from the riverside. Not all the staffs speak fluent English but they were supportive during our stay. The architecture was Ling-nan influenced with some modern twists, really loved the details. Food was impressive too.

Upon arrival, we had thought we lost our bag in the taxi, and we contacted the staff. Galen, a young staff, persistently tried to help us out. He even agreed to help us call a taxi driver to see if the bag was in the taxi. He was very empathetic, and he was very candid about where he thinks the bag was. So, without giving up, we contacted a taxi driver, and we were able to actually retrieve the bag in the trunk, despite what the taxi driver had said initially. Because of Galen, it made the rest of us stay a lot more memorable. He even went out of his way to be personable as well, and this is the kind of experience we look for in a high-end hotel. A personalized help. And because of this experience, we look forward to coming back and staying at this hotel in the future.

Historically known as Canton and China’s third largest city, Guangzhou is the birthplace of the most popular types of Chinese cuisine such as iconic wonton soup and dim-sum. It has an impressive skyline, some of the oldest temples in the country and busy markets with everything from tea to hi-tech electronics.

The busy city center mesmerises with its futuristic architecture and beautifully lit skyscrapers but just a short trip away is the quiet haven of Nansha Wetland, a bird sanctuary. After a visit here that rejuvenates with new energy, you can then admire the traditional Cantonese architecture of Xiguan Residence, once occupied by the ruling class.

One of the city’s most popular attractions, the Liurong Temple is an absolute must-see, dating back to the 6th century and featuring a 17-story high pagoda. Make sure you don’t miss the traditional buildings near Yide Road as they are slowly being removed from the map due to the city’s rapid growth.

From a 1000-year-old lake garden, to plenty of theme parks, relaxing rolling hills and mountains, Guangzhou seems to have it all! Add impressive street markets and shopping centers and you are in for a fascinating ride.

    The choice of restaurants was good and the food quality was excellent. We went for business primarily. It’s not a city I would choose for tourism. Extremely disappointed with the Canton Tower experience. Most certainly wouldn’t waste your money on this.

    Guangzhou is a busy city.

    Guangzhou is a busy city. Very crowdy and bustles with activity. The subway is always busy and worse at peak hours. Chinese are generally friendly but their reaction to a black person makes me laugh. Especially the elderly and children

    A Fantastic City - Perfect City with Link Metro subway system the moment one step out from BaiYun International Airport. Plenty of delicious food worth for Money. One can really feel the Charm of Beautiful GuangZhou City walking around Pedestrian Street especially individual personal Safety. Feel Proud, Happily & Safely walking around the City-without Fear of being disturb or rob. Try the Night Ferry Cruise enjoy the beautiful lighting along the Pearl River. Worth For Money.

    Guangzhou is a bustling city and easy for a foreigner to explore. The metro is English friendly and extremely cheap. For shopping go to Beijing Road or walker's street close to Sharmian Island where the White Swan Hotel is. Consider a walk around the island and go back in history to visualize the European settlements and embassies that once controlled the area, it's also had signs in all areas saying, No Dogs, No Chinese. It's worth a look at the old churches and architecture. To escape the heat, take a morning trip to Baiyun mountain, lovely walks, views of the city. For many years I have been a fan of the Zoo, Once nothing but cages and small confined areas now much friendly. Also, pandas on view. If you are into history, there are a few gold mines their and for a lazy night, take a river cruise up the pearl and look at the night lights.

    Guangzhou was an excellent experience.

    Guangzhou was an excellent experience. Remarkably, my son took the metro by himself, the police located him within 15 minutes, several stations away. The variety of food was impressive, although finding addresses in English posed a challenge. However, by the end of the trip I was managing better and will be more prepared next time. With a metro conveniently connected to the airport, it is easy to stay anywhere, as transportation is not a significant concern. Additionally, most metro station staff were helpful to first-time visitors.
