The kind Ladies who own this property made me feel like I’m at home, and made sure I was properly prepared for a hike to a nearby village. I’d recommend the breakfast too.

I had the most lovely stay at Finca Flora del Rio. I was there for 3 nights and would have happily stayed longer. The space was beautiful and comfortable, with sweet artistic touches. Loved having a hammock deck, which was visited by hummingbirds. I traveled by bus/on foot and it was easy to get between Flora del Rio and the town (although important to have shoes that can get a little wet and muddy). Melissa and Pablo were wonderful hosts - thoughtful, full of helpful recommendations, they have a great care for the land, space and people and I enjoyed having chats with them. Breakfast was delicious and utilized local ingredients. Activities: Easy to visit town, the river, several roads/trails for walks with beautiful views and birds. They also have suggestions for local tours and guides which led me to a fantastic hiking/birding experience with David. Simply relaxing in the hammock or terrace was also such a treat.

🌟 QUICK TAKE If you’re looking for the perfect Colombian countryside escape—warm, generous hosts, breathtaking mountain scenery, a peaceful river just minutes away, and incredible homemade food—Flora del Rio with Pablo & Melissa is it. Stay at least a few nights to truly soak it all in. This review may sound like a paid promotion, but trust us—it isn’t. Flora del Rio is just that special, and we’d happily share more about our experience with anyone considering it. 🌿 DETAILED REVIEW What we loved: - The People – Pablo and Melissa are exceptional hosts: thoughtful, kind, and always willing to go above and beyond to make your stay special. They’re also wonderful to talk to, and genuinely care about every guest. - The Setting – Flora del Rio sits in the charming town of Pijao in the Colombian mountains. The views are stunning, and the farm is only a 5-minute walk to a serene river where you could easily spend the day. - The Farm – The farm itself is full of fruit trees, coffee plants, and lush greenery that photos can’t capture. It is inspiring to know that the location we were staying in was built with love/care for the surrounding environment! - The Food – Breakfast (included) is always fresh and varied, and we recommend having it in the common area for the full experience. For dinner, Pablo’s soup and Melissa’s pizza are must-tries—we kept ordering them night after night 💡 TIPS FOR TRAVELLERS: - Stay longer. We stayed four nights (three full days) and were so glad we did—many other guests we met regretted shorter stays. - How we spent our time: Day 1 at the river, Day 2 farm tour and relaxing with beers/books, Day 3 mountain excursion, Perfect mix of nature and downtime. - Farm Tour: Don’t miss the guided walk with Pablo & Melissa, where you’ll learn about their eco-agro techniques and Colombia’s diverse flora. - Food Tip: Our favorite combo after trial and error—vegetable soup + half-tomato/half-pesto chicken pizza. Absolute perfection.

Lorena and her family were so lovely and kind. They helped arrange Willy's (jeeps) to and from town and arranged a coffee tour with a great local finca. They were easy to communicate with. This is a good place for families because there is a separate guest house that also has connecting doors across the apartments so you can feel like you're in 1 big house. Just be aware that you are out of town; it adds to the peace of it, but you have to have a ride to/from Pijao and you are definitely rustic out in nature! You are also staying at a family home so be aware if you are sensitive to sound that other family activity is happening in the main house.
